    Congratulations!
I love that you said, “if you feel like something is wrong, tell them”. It is SO IMPORTANT for you and your birthing partner to be your biggest advocate! I haven’t had a baby yet, but I have had three surgeries and multiple oral surgeries and you MUST speak up! I’m super nervous about giving birth, and am hoping for a planned c-section (due to severe back problems) so I have been watching lots of birth stories and you’re the first one who has said anything about speaking up if something isn’t right. Again, congratulations on the new addition! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

thanks so much for watching and I agree with you it is so important! Sorry to hear you've had so many surgeries! but in regards to birth, don't be afraid, its a beautiful thing! I was afraid of it until I went through it and now I know there is nothing to be afraid off :)

Thanks for sharing your experience with us..I am sure this would definitely help lot of new mums in NZ..
I am little bit nervous because I don’t have my mum or anyone (other than my husband )to support me..my DD is on March 12..I hope everything will be fine..

I am positive everything will be fine. Make sure you ask the nurses and Midwifes at the hospital for help if you feel like you need it. You also can go to a birthing Centre after being in the hospital and you can stay there for 3 days. The benefit of that is there are lots of Midwifes that can help and teach you stuff. Make sure you ask your current Midwife about birthing centres if you want to know more about it :)

Congratulations! Thank you so much for sharing your journey, it's so interesting and very informative. I will be a first time mum in January and it's hard to find info for Kiwi mum's, so this is much appreciated!!

If my partner couldn't stay with me during the night, will the nurses help me with the baby or will the nurses take the baby for few hours while I can get some sleep?

    • @StephanieNegri

I would definitely assume so but very hard to say without having experienced it. You will find that your baby will be sleeping for majority of the time though and they have a safe place to sleep so you can get some rest. My partner left for around 5 hours the second night to go look after our cat and I was able to get some sleep when the baby was sleeping ☺️

I am a first time mum and don’t know NZ hospitals or medical systems at all. What hospital did you go to and also is this the case in most hospitals ? I really want a hospital birth but some of these experiences sound concerning. 🥴 I’m based in Auckland 🌸

      Firstly congratulations! Super exciting 🥰
I was at north shore hospital. I personally had an awesome obstetritian which kind of made me not look at all the negatives of the hospital. I think New Zealand hospitals are over packed and under staffed but if it ever came to a point where you or the baby really needed help, they will drop everything to help. I see where you are coming from and I have really mixed emotions about the hospital however if I had to do it again, I would choose a hospital birth (and just pray it’s a quite night) haha. Hope this helps 🥰
