Loved your playthrough! One thing I'd recommend is looking up the ending on youtube with the "full joker dialogue" - its such a shame that they tell you to press counter leading to most players (and me plenty of times) to press it without knowing it's gonna skip some great dialogue. It's only a couple of lines but I feel like they are really good. Origins is also on top of City for me just due to the story and atmosphere so I was really happy to see someone else see it!
The jankyness of the combat seems unfortunate, but the ragdolling of the KO-ed enemies is amazing! 32:45 À tes souhaits! 36:55 The engine didn't like how many bodies were on screen. 😂 43:00 When will you finally get your wish fulfilled and see how Batman gets his spine broken? :_whimsySad: That AOE of Bane and the tracking while he's charging is insane! Harleen is not Harley Quinn yet, so she had nothing to do with Joker taking the city down to it's knees. She is not insane yet. Arkham needs to be reopened I guess. But one thing to have in mind is that you don't have to be expecting to see realism in a superhero fantasy world like Batman you know? It's understandable to get a little "okay that's not how it works" but do his detective work most of the time. It's just entertainment. DC has a LOT of unrealistic stuff in their universe about how chemistry and science fiction too. The way Batman knock people out it's also unrealistic to make them survive because you can die for trauma to the head by bleeding from inside but we know Batman doesn't kill lol. The only disappoint I feel is the bugs to this game though.
Agreed, the glitches do hold this one back from being all it could be despite having a better plot than City. I once had a glitch during the Firefly segment that trapped my save file in an endless void, forcing me to restart the whole game. A fine title to play, whether it's Christmas or not. The Joker would laugh at your discomfort about 'Come on, baby!'. We've all seen in other media that his one true love *isn't* Harley Quinn.
I was looking at the credits to see if I recognized some names, and two of my former managers were QA in that game! Regarding the bugs, the PC version you played looked worse than the console version I played (although it was a while ago). Which reminds me: if you ever play Dragon Age Origins - as you intend to - and choose to play on PC, you need to go on Nexus Mods and download the community patches. No cosplay is a small price to pay for the rights of postal workers, some of the most important people in any society. I’ll pretend your cosplay is of an off-duty postal worker on strike! Love these play throughs. This game really did some stuff right. It’s most obvious strength is the boss fights. I also loved the detective sections. The story is my favorite. Glad you enjoyed it! Can’t wait for Arkham Knight. Edit: The explosive gel need an upgrade to take out a guy when placed on the floor. Not with a PLASTER WALL, though. Not the wood walls. Those don’t take them out which is why you’ve been confused by that mechanic. The plaster walls take them out with no upgrade. The wooden walls are too weak.
It's the little technical glitches in gameplay and graphics, not to mention the some times bad subtitles (spelling mistakes, extra spaces, subs that come sooner than the line) that hold this game back. Still, it's a good time and great that you liked it so much Whimsy! =) on the Knight we go!
i LOVE that you said Arkham Asylum is your fave ! it's mine as well ! People keep saying its "dated" but the atmosphere...storyline...hell, even the Killer Croc lair & scarecrow dreams was all amazing ! That game is the best to me lol Origins is really good as a prequel
Joker definitely has sexual desire towards Bats, that's nothing new. But I think people who believe Bruce reciprocates those feelings are reaching too far.
For me it would have to be 1. Batman Arkham origins 2. Batman Arkham Asylum....i love the story and the boss fights more in origins than asylum...since you played on PC there's more bugs and glitches in there than the console version...
Yeah I would also put this game before City if it came out first. If it was city that took gameplay elements from Origins and not the other way around then it would have been my favorite. It definitely has the best Boss fights in the series. I didn't know about the Heart stuff so thank you for that. Also bombs don't get diffused by punching them through the screen and pulling out the wires but hey, its a game in the end lol. About the second fight with Bane, I think the only thing that you missed is that in the second phase (after the cutscene in the middle of the fight) the game basically gives you unlimited activated Shock Gloves. That means that you can just punch Bane without the need to stun him. It would have made your life a lot easier. The bugs are unfortunately heavy on PC since launch, I always thought the game didn't deserve the hate it got because I played it on PS3 free of glitches. You may get better performance and visuals on PC, but it is more susceptible to glitches on release especially with weaker hardware and the developers optimizations. The game without glitches is definitely up there. The Riddler IMO is not worth it, there are no riddles and the data packs are not even that clever, just go to location and pick up. I would save that effort so that you don't feel burnt out in Arkham Knight as it is necessary to 100% to get the Ending of the game. There is a cool easter egg in the end in Origins for completing his stuff you can check it out on youtube.
@@ZiadJimmy There's some cool audiofiles that are unlocked by collecting all the datapacks, though. But I agree, Riddler (or "Enigma") is definetly the weakest in this game.
This is also my second favourite Arkham game. Asylum is incredible, so is city but it wasn’t as focused. Knight tries too much, and some of it really rubbed me the wrong way.
Did you play the return to Arkham version of city? That’s the version she played on this channel. The reason I’m asking is because to me that version is extremely inferior to the original game which is still available on pc which is the best way to play Arkham city outside of the Xbox 360 and ps3. The return to Arkham version changed the entire game engine and lots of the character models and messed up the original art style and it brought performance issues that weren’t in the original game and everything about the return to Arkham version is just worse overall to that of the original game which on pc looks and plays much much better and it’s really not even comparable between them. I know that there are many people that think the same so if you didn’t play the original game don’t think you’ve gotten an accurate experience with Arkham city because the two versions are much more different than people realize and most people nowadays end up playing the return to Arkham version and never realize how much different it is to the original game.
@josiahbicelis304 nah haven’t played the return games. Played them first three on 360 and knight on ps4. I didn’t know this though, that’s surprising. It’s not like I don’t like City, I just found Asylum incredible, and I just preferred Origins overall to City. Knight is a big drop off though unfortunately.
@@iBaillie Good, I played City on the Xbox 360 first then I played the pc version of both asylum and city which are both the original versions of the games and the best way to experience both of them. I end up replaying them both annually on pc at least a few times a year. I really like Arkham knight but you can tell that without Paul Dini the writing and direction was not the same but I think it’s still absolutely worth playing. I always thought of Asylum and city as being a direct continuation of Batman the animated series just in the form of a video game mostly because most of the people involved in those two especially Paul Dini who was the main writer for both Asylum and City were also extremely involved in Batman the animated series and lots of the side missions were directly continuing the plot of certain episodes in the show picking up where the show left off and most of the characters are written with the plot points of Batman the animated series already established in their character as well as the comics of course and when Arkham knight came around it lost that aspect of its design and became more of its own separate thing. I love origins too but Because of what I said earlier about Batman the animated series being the foundation for Asylum and City I don’t see it as a prequel but rather a separate game of its own that is heavily inspired by Asylum and City.
There's very little payoff for the Enigma quest, all you get is his full character bio once you 100% him and then go and talk to Alfred. That said the audio tapes you get for collecting the data packs are pretty cool.
I do like the story of Arkham Origins, but I honestly preferred if the story focused on Black Mask as the main villain and the assassins he hired. No Joker. Maybe some hints of Joker in the main game, like a side mission or something, and then have him be the focus as a DLC. As much I like this version of Bane, I would scrapped him out of the game and have Deathstroke be the enemy to Batman to fight more than once throughout. First encounter: Deathstroke wins the fight, but Batman had to make a retreat. Second encounter: Batman gets the upper hand over Deathstroke, but there were some interferences from the police. Then we get to the last encounter between Batman and Deathstroke.
If I remember correctly this game was made in a rush due to WB not wanting a huge year gap between Arkham City and Knight...while Rocksteady worked on knight, Montreal worked on origins. So that might be a reason why the game doesn't run as smooth but the console version has WAY LESS glitches and bugs
So I'll try to explain why many people (including me) like this episode less than the others. For me, it's not the story or the gameplay as such, nor is it because it was made by another studio. Taken on its own, it's actually a pretty good game, but it's when you put it in perspective with the other installments that things start to go wrong. The game creates a lot of inconsistencies with the series : already from a story point of view, there are some very important things that happen between the Joker and Batman in this episode : Batman saves him from falling off a building, he smashes his face in the chapel at the end, almost losing his sanity, and of course nobody mentions this in Asylum or City. Personally, I'd have preferred the game's villain to really be Black Mask. I really like the game's introduction and the way it sets up the story with the 10 assassins; it would have been a perfect opportunity to show us a young Batman who has to prove himself, and I find that the game makes very little use of this idea. I mean, Shiva and Dead Shot are just side quests that aren't very exciting. There are some nice boss fights but a lot of the mechanics are just rehashes of Arkham City, (deathstrok and Copperhead are a mix with Ra's Al Ghul boss, the Mad Hatter level looks like a Scarecrow level) and so I find that the Joker arrives too early in the plot, and while I love the fact that they included the Joker's origin story inspired by "The Killing Joke", I think his omnipresence feels too much like fan service. But the thing that bothered me the most is that Batman is supposed to be in his early years, less experienced, more impulsive indeed, but less in control. So much so that in the story, Alfred worries, telling him it's too much for him and that he won't be able to handle it. But I'm sorry, Batman is more effective and competent than ever in this game, more than in Asylum and City !!! His suit seems more technologically advanced, he has more advanced gadgets, and at no point do we see him struggle or be in trouble (except maybe when he's poisoned by Copperhead, and even then it's just because Thierry opened the Arkham City Animation folder and thought, "Hey, it would be nice to reuse this animation of Batman coughing, it's pretty cool!"). So I really don't understand why Alfred is worried (well, I get it from a plot perspective, but the game and gameplay don't reflect this concern because unfortunately, the studio preferred to keep the same gameplay with more features rather than reinventing it, and honestly I understand why they made that choice, they had probably no much time to release the game before a certain deadline). This leads me to the gameplay, beside the bugs and the combat wich feels less organic... Where did the gloves (wich are simply a fury mod like in God of War) and all those gadgets go in Asylum and City?!!! Did Alfred accidentally drop them into the Batcave's chasm ? Because they would have been really useful, I think, in the "sequels" no ?!!! The fast travel points are, for me, an admission of failure. The map is half recycled from City, and that damn bridge is a nightmare to cross (even though it leads to one of the best moments in the game with Firefly). Well, I've already talked too much, so I'll stop here. There you go, it's because of all these details that I like this one less, but still, I had a great time with it. I really enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, I love the designs of the Joker and Bane, who is definitely much more interesting in this game than in Asylum or City. But I hope you'll understand this feeling, which I don’t think I'm the only one to have had when discovering this game. And I hope we can remain polite and courteous in the comments section. I can't wait to see you start Arkham Knight, Whimsy!
His suit isnt more advanced look at it. Its put together armor parts its also potentially heavier something that he wouldve fixed with the slimmer suits that are also armored Not sure why people see heavily armored suit and think its more advanced than his slimmer more athletic ones which are also just as armored. You think the bulletproof suits that are slimmer would be more advanced because they are His suit in Knight is essentially a mixture of the two features being even more armored but also so he can endure more force and still have the same athletic advantage
The map is half recycled because WB only had so much time and they were reusing assets from City Many games are made like this Majoras Mask reuses a lot from Ocarina and New Vegas reuses a ton from Fallout 3.
Wow all I remember is Barbra Gordon in the Gotham police department and bat man hiding from the cops funny how he gets no respect for vigilance that’s frowned upon but all in all it was a crazy journey and I never understood estimates the Bats great video
Even tho I do love the story/ game like what everything u said but there’s something about it(other than just the gameplay)that I put in third place in my ranking of the games. I love twice now we have joker sing during the credits. I love the detail that joker only sees the monster bat and not Batman. I’m so excited for the dlc and Arkham knight especially Arkham Knight 😊
Love your Arkham saga walkthrough so far. I wonder if you'll play Arkham Origins Blackgate. It's the companion game set 3 months after Arkham Origins, only catch is that its 2.5D but it still translates the Arkham gameplay to 2.5D. It also expands upon what was set up in this game. Once again loving these videos tuning in as soon as possible.
👏👏👏 Congrats on finishing the main story. Hope U will do the dlc story later. And do the challenges for yourself ,especially the intiation campaign ,which actually tells you the story of a time period of bruce wayne's training to be the bat under a mentor ,and him meeting shive for the 1st time even before She was an assassin hunting him in this one.
I'm so anxious for you to play Arkham Knight, it's a breathtaking experience I wish I could play for the first time again and sadly I never will. Seeing your first experience is another chance Ill get to relive mine emotionally and thoughtfully. Please enjoy the ending to this wonderful saga and I'll be very interested to see your thoughts and theories on what you believe is the true ending to the game!
If you want a really good story that explores the dynamic of Batman and Joker check out the "White Knight" comic series written by Sean Murphy. It is It's own universe so there are things canonically that will be different from the Batman stuff you'd know. But so worth it.
On rewatch, I think it's kind of genius!! Because as a first time player, we are used by the quick time events by now (especially deathstroke's fight), so of course as soon as we see the 'counter' icon, we click it, not knowing it would stop his dialogue. Once it stops it though, you're like wait a minute... and then the rest you learn to let it play. The genius resides in the actual dialogue of the Joker saying 'if you let me finish my sentences you might learn a thing' (or something along those lines?), which is just... so good haha!!
Another superb video, Whimsy. Since you are progressing through the Arkham games, once you have completed Arkham Knight and assuming that you do not play Suicide Squad, do you have plans to play the Insomniac Spider-Man games at some undetermined time in the future?

Cosplay during Arkham Knight wouldn't be that bad tbh, since the games setting takes place during Halloween 🎃👻
There's technically two story DLCs for this game. One is hiding in the challenge maps as a campaign for the Initiate Bruce Wayne skin.

I can't wait to see you start Arkham Knight, Whimsy!
Smashing his face isnt losing his sanity he smashes peoples faces in every game
His suit isnt more advanced look at it. Its put together armor parts its also potentially heavier something that he wouldve fixed with the slimmer suits that are also armored
Not sure why people see heavily armored suit and think its more advanced than his slimmer more athletic ones which are also just as armored.
You think the bulletproof suits that are slimmer would be more advanced because they are
His suit in Knight is essentially a mixture of the two features being even more armored but also so he can endure more force and still have the same athletic advantage
The glue grenade degrades in the dlc thats why he no longer uses it
The line launcher almost completely replaces the gadget deathstroke had anyways
The map is half recycled because WB only had so much time and they were reusing assets from City
Many games are made like this Majoras Mask reuses a lot from Ocarina and New Vegas reuses a ton from Fallout 3.
Also complaining about the bridge but also complaining about the FT points which help you avoid the bridge is not a good critique
Wow all I remember is Barbra Gordon in the Gotham police department and bat man hiding from the cops funny how he gets no respect for vigilance that’s frowned upon but all in all it was a crazy journey and I never understood estimates the Bats great video
Omg Whimsy Psyche Cosplay
Your usual clothes are awesome, cosplay or not i know it will be another banger video as usual!! Don't worry Whimsy! Can't wait for Arkham Knight
Would love to see you do a playthrough of the Telltale Batman games
I feel that. I'm also waiting on a package to arrive and it's been 2 weeks... *sigh*
The shocking to the heart can work under any circumstances, Why? Because HE IS BATMAN 😎😂🫶🏽
1:04:25 Shame that you missed his monologue
Tbf no one lets him finish his monologue the first time
On rewatch, I think it's kind of genius!! Because as a first time player, we are used by the quick time events by now (especially deathstroke's fight), so of course as soon as we see the 'counter' icon, we click it, not knowing it would stop his dialogue.
Once it stops it though, you're like wait a minute... and then the rest you learn to let it play. The genius resides in the actual dialogue of the Joker saying 'if you let me finish my sentences you might learn a thing' (or something along those lines?), which is just... so good haha!!
there's a set of challenge maps, i think it's called initiation
i suggest you play that first
then go for the cold cold heart
@1:09:48 Cue for DLC!
Another superb video, Whimsy. Since you are progressing through the Arkham games, once you have completed Arkham Knight and assuming that you do not play Suicide Squad, do you have plans to play the Insomniac Spider-Man games at some undetermined time in the future?
She played the first Spider-Man a bit and didn't like it.
Wait until you play "Arkham Knight".....it will be glorious cresendo.
PEAK GAME, BEST IN THE SERIES
1:31:30 I gotta stay till the end cause I wanna heard that Byeeeee! 😅
Thanks for the medical lesson 😊
