  • With the standard setting, Calculated field does not support Picture format (QR Code/Barcode) view.
Even with the standard barcode generating function in sharepoint (view our other video: • Auto Barcode generatin... ), we cannot modify the barcodes' value or format.
This video solves the above issues. The solution uses Power Automate/Microsoft Flow to help auto generate customized QR Code/Barcode for Sharepoint List Calculated field with .

Imagine how much of Microsoft's resources are wasted on doing this ridiculous workaround to get QR codes when they could just build a function into Power Automate to generate QR codes with one step.

Excellent! Thank you! BTW, I'm trying to find a way that the barcode shows an item value, written below it.

At the 2:00 minute mark what is the actual input you are putting into the formula box. I can’t seem to get it to work, maybe I am missing something. Can you please respond with the input you entered.

I had difficulty at the concatenate step; I kept receiving a syntax error. Discovered a single ' needs to be at beginning and end of link string. The issue was I kept receiving a " at end of 1st string. To get a single ' at the end of 1st string (rather than "), I needed to backspace over the second ' of ". Sorry if that's confusing, I'm an engineer not Mark Twain. Backspace second ' of " to get a single '

You may just move the cursor in between the ", just use the arrow symbol

Great video and an excellent solution. Really appreciated. I have encountered an issue with the flow breaking when changing the QR field in sharepoint from "Hyperlink" to "Picture". In Power Automate the "Update Item" list shows the sharepoint item for my "QR" changes from "QR" to "item/QR" and reports that "The item is no longer part of the schema and should be removed". How would I stop this from happening? Any assistance is much appreciated, and again, great solution.

You may try changing the QR field in Sharepoint back to Hyperlink for any adjustment in Power Automate. Once you finish with the automate flow, change the QR field in Sharepoint back to "Picture" again. Hope this helps!

this is the an old method though. now there is encodian api to generate the QR code in automate. Also the steps is very difficult to follow. From what i can digest it seems this QR code only stores the Inventory ID and nothing else?

But encodian has a price, this method is free
