With this video you will learn how to build a Power App for Scanning Barcodes. Additionally you will learn how to setup gallery filtering on barcode scanned values. This video focuses on the mechanics of barcode scanning, not so much the visual appeal of the app.

I would like to see a video where you can already have a list of inventory set up and be able to move your inventory to diffrent folder by scanning the item.
Thanks for the request. We will put it in the lineup.
This is great however how should i do the reverse, scanning the qr code/bar code to retrieve information about the inventory (data are all in a onedrive excel sheet)
Scan the QR code into a filter or search function to lookup that value in your data source.
Perfect thank you so much
Hi - the download link doesnt work. Can you provide the app code?
The code has changed sense then. I will update the videos.
bro , some time we need to get scanning one barcode and this barcode having not only one information ,,, some time 3 some time 4 and so on ,,, but question is how we after scanning this code we distributed the information that comes from the code to deferent field properly because it only on barcode containing multiple information , like the name , phone number , age , other ,,, this is my question?
Hi, this app is brilliant and allows me to add stock to a list and confirm amounts. I was wondering how I'd go about using this app to remove items from stock, with the Sharepoint List being updated. Also, when scanning barcodes for items, which are then added to the Sharepoint List, it there anyway to total the items if they have the same barcode, instead of having one entry for each scanned entity?
Depending on the way you want to setup your inventory, will dictate how you achieve the above. You can have a list of barcode (inventory items) and a corresponding stock level. Each time you add a item of the same type it increases or decreases the inventory level. I would do this with a filter for the barcode value, then increment the number on each add and conversely, reduce the item on each subtraction. This method would reduce the size of your SharePoint list and make your app very faster. If you have any more technical questions don’t hesitate to reach out on our website. Is it possible to have the IT asset default to the last used. For example if I'm scanning all my computers I want to select computer, scan in all the computers. Then select Headset, and scan all the headsets.
This would save a lot of time manually selecting the correct IT asset each time.
Thanks for the video it's great
Yes you could set the default as a variable. Each time time you scan the variable would be set with the last value.
If I have items with expiration date and lit number how can I match the info from the SharePoint list and keep track on dates?
Use a formula for date comparison.
Formula at 9:03 throws out an error ("There is an error in this formula. Try revisingthe formulaand ruung it again"). how can I fix it?
Hi, i want to make a simple inventory app.
The app consists in that i will have to scan a barcode from a medical device and put that code into an excel specific column and add a state for that code on a right column but in the same row, for example "entered". Then if i read the same code with my phone, the app will detect it and only enable a state change but it will not add the serial number again on the list, so there will be no duplicated serial numbers on the column.
Is that even possible in AppSheet?
Thanks!
I am not sure about app sheet. This is for power apps
When I change the barcode section from default.parent to the name of the barcode scanner I get an error message. Any ideas?
Thanks
I would have to see the app in order to give you further guidance. You can send me an email jeff@solvedsystems.com
@@SolvedSystems I get the same error, @rossmarvin6078 did you get it right?
So would it be better to put this data into Dataverse rather than a SP list to expand or can the SP List be integrated to Dataverse at a later ltime.
It really depends on your orgs goals and licensing. If your org started using data verse later, you could just build a power automate connection to copy from the SharePoint list to the dataverse db.
Are you able to provide the app code? The link is no longer valid.
Could this be linked to an SQL server too?
Yes it can be linked to any data source. Please reach out if you need dev help. Jeff@solvedsystems.com
cool! how to get the download link for the solution?
Hi,
I’ve pulled the code down because power apps has changed so much.
Can the app be used by multiple users? If yes, can the data from the different users be saved onto 1 sharepoint? Can it scan data without wifi or network and sync when network becomes available?
Yes all of those things can be accomplished.
I see there's similar comments regarding when changing barcode section from default.parent to the name of the barcode scanner..any updates on the issue? Ran into it also...
You can put barcodescanner.value in the default field of the form field you are trying to fill in with the barcode value. I make the barcode scanner element clear and put a camera icon under it so it looks like the barcode scanner is the camera button.
@SolvedSystems still not working, showing an error when putting name of barcode thats in the FooterContainer1 to the DataCardValue4 > default. Issue expected text value. This property on this control expects Text Values. The rule produces Control values which are incompatible. Location DataCardValue4 .Default
Change rule to produce a (0) value.
Thanks for helpings btw!

Can you connect this to an excel sheet instead of a sharepoint list? And if so would the process still be the same? Very helpful; thank you!
Yes the process should be the same!
Thank you very much , very me helpful
