Gabriel, I think you forgot one important reason and that's being single and without kids :) For me the passport is main difference, I started traveling by watching your videos and liked your simple style of making videos. but I face so many difficulties in getting visas to different countries. even for Thailand visa, we have to gather a bunch of documents and then send to the embassy and wait for weeks to receive the visa. and since I'm married and have 3 kids, this is the second most difficult part of my travel journey. but still I'm trying hard to overcome it and have visited 29 countries in last 3 years. I'm agree to the rest of your points. and I'm also making videos sometimes in English and most of the times in Urdu/Hindi. Happy Traveling. I hope, we'll meet someday and make a travel vlog together. peace out!
Hi Gabe, I am an Indian, watching your videos inspired me and I just travelled London, Edinburgh, Dublin..... Well we had stayed in hostel ate packed food and saved few buck and had that money was spent on traveling. Thank you buddy thanks so much.... My last trip is Dedicated to you :)
I think the laptop and smartphone were the most important things in elevating international travel. I remember the only way to travel was to go through a brick and mortar travel agency. They would print out airline tickets and hotel vouchers. And the only way to keep in touch with family while on a trip was using a calling card in a pay phone booth. And that was not very long ago...maybe a little over 10 years. We've come a long way!
I budget traveled Europe for 6 months before internet and I did just fine. Never reserved, just used guide books and pay phones. ANd word of mouth from other travelers. Oh yeah, Eurorail Pass made making connections irrelevant too.
I didn´t have a laptop when I first when travelling, only an old Nokia cellphone which switched itself off mid English channel. (I left the UK on a bike and rode across Europe) I had a tent for accommodation, other accommodation was just found as and when needed by simply asking local people or other travellers. Not being in touch was great. It meant I was where I was. I called home once a week from a payphone, and sent postcards from countries as I was leaving them. I spent 5 & 1/2 months travelling around Europe like that, managed to get a ride crewing in a sailboat for a month around the Greek Islands, and I still think the lack of planning made it the best trip I´ve done.
i preferred backpacking before the internet as it was more of an adventure. Was in 92 so no cellphone just guide book and phone numbers .But its true its a lot easier now , but dont feel as much of an adventurer
@@acidthunder1 100% agree with you. And that's why I run into so many ignorant travelers now, because all they need is a cellphone, no common sense of adventure and they can travel around the world 🙁 And they're everywhere now!

Very true Gabe, English is really a universal language. It's also handy to have a powerful passport, not needing a Visa for most countries.. In 2017, we cruised from AUS to Greece (33 days) but needed to get Visas for Sri Lanka and India. Sri Lanka was easy enough as I did it online in 20 mins and was Free. The Indian one however, took 2 weeks and I had to mail our passports into their office in Melbourne to affix a Visa page in our passports. It was a multiple entry visa and was valid for 6 mths. Even tho we were on a cruise ship we needed it to even be able to sail in Indian waters. Cost was around $105 Australian dollars. The entire time I was thinking I hope they don't lose our passports in the mail.
Appreciate all the info you share! Will be backpacking in Europe this summer and these videos have been very helpful. Thanks and continued safe travels
Just found your channel, learning a lot. I am American, plan to do more traveling. Questions: Do you keep an apartment or house "back home" when you're abroad?...what do you do with all your "stuff" when you're traveling? Have you ever experienced any trouble or security issues while traveling?...do you carry anything to protect yourself? Do you build an itinerary or do just follow your whims? Is there a really good translating app I can put on my Android tablet that works with speech recognition? Do you tell everybody you meet you're an American?...or do you sometimes stay low-key? Have you ever gotten sick on foreign food?... or do you find most restaurants most places are safe? Why do your youtube videos get more repeat views/longevity that other travel vlogers? What camera do you use? Do you have worldwide 4G?...or do you just use hotel and free wi-fi when you can find it? Any weird bathroom experiences?...that might make an interesting video! Thanks, keep up the inspiring work!
Hi there, thanks for watching. I'm afraid I don't have time to answer all your questions, but the good news is I've answered a lot of them in various other videos. very true. first time i left the country besides canada, i got jumped on busy street by 6 people for my wallet which had 25 dollars in it. Nearly died. If i was as tall as him they pick another guy
I dont think its about size. Its all about how one carry oneself in a strange place. If you have that fearful, doubtful and lost look in your eyes, people will spot you and take advantage of you. Just be confident and show some street smarts and you will be ok. Of course if you are not willing to be brave, then you should stay at home. Gabe may be tall, but he is a very skinny fella. He carries himself very confidently and in a street smart way.
Physical stature dominance among humans is an instinct held over from pre-historic times when the decision to take stuff by force was influenced mainly by the size and thus apparent strength of the targeted individual. hi, i'm from Pakistan, I watch your videos and they're sometimes funny yet nice and informative. i'd like to invite you to visit Pakistan (a dirt cheap place in terms of US $ power) and you'll observe the diverse and hospitable culture of us. Thanks
This is not how currencies work. In your case if you have TH-cam pay you in say Bulgarian Lev, they won't pay you the same Lev as they would in Dollars. So for instance if the exchange ratio was 2:1 USD:Lev, then for each dollar you would have received TH-cam will pay you 2 Lev. The reason that it's cheaper to buy a substitute item in BG versus the US, is that the costs to produce the item in BG are lower. I think you'll find that if you try and buy US items in BG they are the same cost in US dollars, or more than if you were in the US.

Hi Gabriel i am from Romaniaand i recomend going to the city Brasov in Romania not far from Bucharest. You can get the train for 2 hours . Have a great time in Romania, i hope you will enjoy my country. Im a big fan i have seen almost all your videos on youtube. They help me relax in stressfull times. Thank you very much for the great videos!!! One day i wish to travel like you do.
You can travel the US VERY cheaply by van/RV camping/living. You can buy a cheap van and boondock every nite for free and cook with a campstove or whatever. Hundreds of vids on this. This goes for almost anywhere in the Americas but far easier in US and Canada. I should know bc I've been doing it for the past 2 years.
American passport holders still need to apply for visa to visit Turkey. It's just a matter of 20 minutes online and aprox 25 euro. Turkey is so affordable outside Istanbul. Mamaris is 1 hour 15min away by ferry. From there, you can go Islands hoping
Whoa, thanks for that tip! It looks like something changed since the last time I was there. We used to be able to get the visa at the border. You might have really saved my butt for the next time I go there. Thanks.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Prior to 2019, I also didn't choose the visa upon arrival option for Turkey, I always wanted my visa to be approve before my travel (e.g. Cambodia/Vietnam). I did a lot of research last year for Turkey so that I can travel the entire west coast by bus & Gulet( yacht). There are many Gulet company which offer different routes along the Turkish Rivera and also by charter to Greek island of Rhodes & Kos. The all inclusive Gulet package are aprox 100Euro/day~breakfast/lunch/tea/dinner + sightseeing. Low season is May/June/Sept so it'll be cheaper. If you just want to take the ferry to Greece, it can be either from Bordrum, Marmaris or Fethiye. and go thru custom. I love the combination of travel between Turkey & Greece this way, I get to see more places and the Turkish buses are so affordable and excellent service with a few free drinks+ snacks.
@@worldcitizeng6507 Sounds good! I might end up going back to Turkey sometime this fall. So the visa on arrival is no longer available? I was there in October of 2019 and got the visa at the airport.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos I am not sure, but I remember news about the change. It should only takes 10 mins to apply online and print it. Google Turkey embassy website to confirm updates. When you visit Turkey again, don't forget to treat yourself to a Turkish bath and make an episode about it, your fans will love it :) It was difficult to video it on the ladies side, lol
Fab as always, Gabe. I was wondering if you would do a video speaking to camera fielding commonly asked questions from your subscribers and others who follow you? I'm not suggesting live but maybe if people submitted questions then you could choose which ones were the ones you would like to reply to?
Hi Anne, I'm not sure what you mean about camera fielding. Do you mean questions about cameras and filming? I just posted a video about the camera that I use, if that addresses your question. But if you mean questions in general, I do plan to make one answering some questions soon. Also I made one like that about a year ago: th-cam.com/video/_pD74Kc2bTs/w-d-xo.html
Gabriel very good info .I live in Canada but our currency not so good as you know, but I have every year one trip to Europe. I think there are a lot of history and great museums this what I like.. Thanks again.
Question? I am retired, and travel overseas every summer, but for the last 15 years or so, only to the UK, and for the last five years to Spain. Always to hike and explore in the country. For the last few years I have been traveling on one way tickets so that I can return to the US when I want. I understand that some countries require you to posses a return ticket back to your home country before they will let you in. How do you handle this? Or do you always travel round trip? I enjoy your videos immensely.
hey Tom, yes there are indeed some countries that expect you to have an onward flight, such as the Philippines, Indonesia and Colombia. However it's loosely enforced. When I visited those countries I made sure I had another flight because of what I'd read. I was never asked about it by the customs officials, but I was asked for proof of a flight by the airlines. So you do want to do some research about the countries you're going to and be prepared in that regard. You can always just buy a cheap flight to somewhere nearby if you aren't sure of your plans and then if you don't take it then it's no big loss.
I have a Canadian passport, and I speak fluent Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. I can speak a little bit Italian, Japanese, and Korean (only up to the point of reading signs, greeting, shopping, but not asking directions). I have no problem in money. But my problem is physical condition. Too bad, when you are old, you have money (enough to travel), but not physical.
There is an Indian YT travel Vlogger called "mountain trekker".... he traveled a huge part of Russia with just 230 US dollars and parts of Europe like Hungary Czech Austria for just 150 USD (excluding flight tickets)... just by couch surfing and hitch hiking... so yes, if you really have the desire to travel from your heart, not even your average financial condition or currency power can stop you :D He complained about the power of the Indian passport in the video though HAHA xD
Say, just a cool twist to your videos. Why don’t you do a season where you travel a continent? You start in Phillipines and end in Europe as an example. So, in this case, it’s an Asian trek. Any continent would do. On the first video you show where you start, track costs, adventures, meals, etc. And show your progress towards whatever finish line you created. Anyway, just a thought.
Hi Kent....that's basically what I just did over the past six months. I started in Singapore in October, traveled through Asia and the Middle East into eastern Europe and will probably end in northern Europe.
Yea,I think a lot of Travel vloggers are trying to pick up traffic via other vloggers by commenting and then people clicking on their screen names...or etc ...
Yes, that's the way they talk to each other in Greece while Bulgarians go on holiday in the summers or Greeks go to Bulgaria for skiing🎿 in the winter.
Your fortunate Gabe as your lifestyle is made simple becuz you have no wife or children to tow around otherwise it would be more expensive. I love that your living your best life n sharing it with the rest of the🌎 Stay safe until next time✌
It's really a damn shame that Gabe had to show Americans a map ..... these were good places without bullshit artists and riff-raff ..... -and they have wonderful cut-rate ho's , Jennie. Why do we need Americans there ?..... I tell them; USA spent many decades planning to Bomb them... sheesh, Gabe.
Yes, I had to do that in Bangkok, Thailand a few years ago. And my passport is almost full now but unfortunately they changed the rules and you can't have new pages added anymore. So I will need to get a new passport even though it's only three years old.
Hi Gabriel, You mentioned that being able to make money online has been a huge factor in ease of travel for you. (I write and edit for a few companies remotely, and have often simply taken my work with me on travels.) I really enjoyed the spirituality videos your other channel, "Gabriel Kundalini". Do you find you are able to bring in significant ad revenue through those videos, or is most of your income from the travel videos on this channel? (If you don't mind me asking--I'm just terribly curious about online business in general and how other folks have managed to make a living online!) All the best, and happy travels
It sure does help when you're from a country with a strong currency to kickstart your life as a traveler but anyone can make money off the internet. Key here is the language. No matter where you're from, if you learn to really master the English language and you learn a skill (whether that's programming or making TH-cam videos, it doesn't matter) then the world is at your feet. A strong passport is nice to have but it always comes down to money. When you have money you can get a visa easily. I know people from Thailand and Indonesia who travel at least as much as I do as a European. Sure they need to get visas for countries that I don't need but they just consider that a formality. It's mostly about being able to show you can afford to stay and if you can because you have a successful TH-cam channel for example then you can basically go wherever you want. You just have to acquire the right mindset and not be stuck in whatever situation you are. In the end its not at all about where you're form. Free your mind, monetize the internet and the planet is yours. :)
I enjoy watching all your videos. No matter how long or short. I was wondering what kind of camera you use. Go-Pro? Are there different models? It's very sharp.
Good to hear. Yes, a GoPro 6. The camera that I use is always listed in the description below every video. Some videos are filmed with different cameras. As you'll see if you're subscribed then my latest video is about the GoPro 6.
Hahah ..seriously Gabriel, with angel name.I am from Bulgaria and currently in Thailand /to escape winter/ and love your videos, watching you from here and you are there :-D ..oh, well travelers...did you like Varna, you should visit Bg in summer is much more beautiful, or mountains while you are there now? By the way, you have no idea how many greeks speak bulgarian it always surprises me, however yes young people all around Bulgaria speak english. The food you ate absolutely not traditional, you should vizit the so called "Mehana" type of restaurants for authentic bg cuisine. At this time of year is nice to see Veliko Tarnovo city or Bansko. And sea is nice in summer, amazing place is Sozopol.Next time definitely write me, we have a place on the black sea be my guest 😀
Well, Gabes I am so jealous, in terms of Visa complications for me holding an Indian passport. It adds an additional cost every time applying for Visa. For e.g. I m planning for Europe +UK so visa cost additional is for Schengen (70€) UK visa (140€) :( that too tourist Visa is for such a short period only. 1-2 months only. So every time have to go thru the same.
Hi Gabriel very good clip on your travels, however i would like to say that the clip when you are standing next to a sort of pond and it does not smell good, correct me if iam wrong but was that not some sort of sewage plant?
I don't think so, I think it was a pond that had a lot of rotting plant material in it from the trees that were all around it. But I could be wrong. I wasn't looking too closely since I was busy talking.

You have to visit Brașov if you are coming in Romania
I'll definitely check it out, someone else recommended it as well.
Also, check out Sighisoara. GREAT medieval citadel city. The birthplace of Vlad Tapes, Dracula.
I LOVE WATCHING YOUR TRAVEL CLIPS. THANK YOU .
Thanks!
Very true.
Great tips and motivation, love your channel!
Awesome, glad to hear it.
Did you know that 6% of English vocabulary is of Greek origin?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_language#/media/File:Origins_of_English_PieChart.svg
Cool, I didn't know that.
Thanks for the maps! Love the maps!
Great video...keep on doing what ya doing!
Seeing as how a good number of people who watch your videos are American, could you make a part two that applies more to people from the U.S.?
Love your videos Gabriel!
@@worldcitizeng6507 Alright, sounds easy enough, I'll search around online to confirm what I need to do.
Loving the channel Gabe. Are you coming through the UK on your way west? Happy to buy you a beer and have a chat about your travels.
Thanks, great to hear. Not sure if I'll visit the UK this trip, but it's within the realm of possibility.
Tnx dude, these info type videos are the ones I really enjoy👍
Cool.
Most of the time it's cheaper to buy three single tickets, then one two-way return ticket. It also gives you more options for finding cheap flights
I have a Canadian passport, and I speak fluent Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. I can speak a little bit Italian, Japanese, and Korean (only up to the point of reading signs, greeting, shopping, but not asking directions). I have no problem in money. But my problem is physical condition. Too bad, when you are old, you have money (enough to travel), but not physical.
step 1 get a strong passort
final step travel freely :)
Awesome ! Thanks for sharing.from Calgary
Great video. Keep em coming.
There is an Indian YT travel Vlogger called "mountain trekker".... he traveled a huge part of Russia with just 230 US dollars and parts of Europe like Hungary Czech Austria for just 150 USD (excluding flight tickets)... just by couch surfing and hitch hiking... so yes, if you really have the desire to travel from your heart, not even your average financial condition or currency power can stop you :D
He complained about the power of the Indian passport in the video though HAHA xD
Yes, exactly, anyone can travel if they really want to.
Always, very informative 👍👍
the video is uploaded 4 min ago, its 21 min
how the hell did u watch it
Yea,I think a lot of Travel vloggers are trying to pick up traffic via other vloggers by commenting and then people clicking on their screen names...or etc ...
jkeasy M Not sure when you were notified, or perhaps you didn't watch it right away... 🤙🤙
Leo F. isnt this guy great
Bulgarian passport is number 14 in the ranklist. Bulgarians can travel Visa free to 155 countries
On comparison The US passport has 160 countries that are visa free, Russian 110, Indian passport is only 58.
Another good video buddy good job. Bulgaria overall looks nice id like to go.
Thank you for sharing, nice walkthrough 💚💚
Great video....as usual Gabe❤
Cool, but have you ever seen a Bulgarian and a Greek conversing in English?
yes. and Chinese and Slovakian, Japanese and Italian, German and Spanish all in the last week alone
Yes, that's the way they talk to each other in Greece while Bulgarians go on holiday in the summers or Greeks go to Bulgaria for skiing🎿 in the winter.
It’s very informative. Very factual & True.
Just like seeing actual stuff , and not like music videos, carpetbagger has a drone btw, get one Sir Gabe...
Your fortunate Gabe as your lifestyle is made simple becuz you have no wife or children to tow around otherwise it would be more expensive. I love that your living your best life n sharing it with the rest of the🌎
Stay safe until next time✌
Very true.
Keep on travelling man! :)
If you plan to visit other places than only Bucharest in Romania, I think you would like Cascada Tamina - in the area of Predeal - Brasov
Ahhhh and Cascada Bigar in Caras-Severin is beautiful as well
Maybe I’ll ask to meet up with you at some point on one of your journeys Gabe.
The food looked tasty.
Hey now.
Jennie W What country are you in Jen?
It's really a damn shame that Gabe had to show Americans a map ..... these were good places without
bullshit artists and riff-raff ..... -and they have wonderful cut-rate ho's , Jennie.
Why do we need Americans there ?..... I tell them; USA spent many decades planning to Bomb them...
sheesh, Gabe.
diamonddog257 Its a Damn shame that you come,to a friendly TH-cam Video Spewing hate.. Who cares what you say.. we are coming deal with it idiot
Have you ever had to add extra pages to your passport? -Due to all the stamps and visas?
Yes, I had to do that in Bangkok, Thailand a few years ago. And my passport is almost full now but unfortunately they changed the rules and you can't have new pages added anymore. So I will need to get a new passport even though it's only three years old.
Hi Gabriel,
You mentioned that being able to make money online has been a huge factor in ease of travel for you. (If you don't mind me asking--I'm just terribly curious about online business in general and how other folks have managed to make a living online!)
All the best, and happy travels
Well said.
Love low season it’s a travel lover season!
4 Things That Make Travel Easier
1. Money
2. More money
3. Even more money
4. and finally just shit load of money.
100%
Honestly, it's cheaper to travel in a lot of countries (eg SE Asian countries) it's way cheaper than living in a Western country.
I like the plates in the restaurant
Gabriel, when you went to Singapore, did you have to show proof of onward travel to either the airline when boarding or to customs in Singapore?
Wow... super... Awsmn... would.. regularly watch... ur vedio... As Travelling is my fashion
Thanks for the tips, have fun in Thailand, sounds pretty nice right now!
Thanks for a great video
Hi Gabriel very good clip on your travels, however i would like to say that the clip when you are standing next to a sort of pond and it does not smell good, correct me if iam wrong but was that not some sort of sewage plant?
I don't think so, I think it was a pond that had a lot of rotting plant material in it from the trees that were all around it. But I could be wrong. I wasn't looking too closely since I was busy talking.
Inspirational as always.
Hello Gab, what kind of camera do you film with ? Did you ever go to Budapest ?
This is filmed with a GoPro 6. Yes I went to Budapest last year:
th-cam.com/users/gabejedmosearch?query=Budapest
nice one .
When will you come again in India want to meet you ..
Great, travel is more organised but maybe it takes away the adventure, the spontaneity etc.?
