I had just come across the DLS framework last night , it had different layers than what you just mentioned in this episode. Those were: discipline, values, control, and vision. It looks like you added other things now..how would we fit them in the original framework? Thanks
can you give a number of examples of information retention? i don't retain a thing. i saw a play yesterday and barely remember it. i think i have adhd though so we have poor short term memory but still, what's going on in the long term? it's not a new memory issue, i've been like this for 43 years.
Wouldn’t that come under discipline? Eat well. Move. Sleep properly, don’t miss doctor’s appointments etc. You decide which aspects of your life/health you need to be disciplined in.
How ironic that one advertiser that interrupts this presentation is promoting a method to jump to expert level quickly. Same people who advertise the Silva method. The juxtaposition couldn’t be funnier!
"I invented..." no. You took a basic rubric and made a self-help hierarchy. It's Maslow filtered through Carnegie. You could make the argument that any of these things could be placed elsewhere in the hierarchy. And you can't get through it without adding the 20 things you dismissed or just straight up didn't think of. I am begging you to stick to computer science because this wouldn't pass muster in a salesman's conference.
yeah i like a lot of stuff in histoire deep work/critics of digital age workplace but further he gets to it the sloppier it gets, and when you have some background in social science or psychology it show a lot
@@matthewcaldwell8100 I at least read all of his books not watched 1 minute of video (you commented right after video upload) and lashed out in comments
This is extremely good and helpful but also very intimidating. I have made great strides in recent years!
I appreciate the depth of your explanation!
Love your videos.
Excelente contenido.

That's a re-upload of an older video, right?

Could be ADD. Check it out.
Health is missing. Without stable health, it is hard to advance. This is physical health, mental health, and financial health.
Yeah, Cal's not great understanding that all "healthy" brains don't work exactly the same and that all "unhealthy" brains don't work exactly the same.
@@Douglas_Gillette he does talk about health around the 8 min mark
@@Amb.CHHolland adhd brain help would be useful but it's probably not within his scope tbf
Just lose weight and take cold showers everyday you'll do fine.

Time to write a new book - Deep Work 2.0 ? ;)
oh snap, when did the stack change? Looks like level 3: calm was replaced by 2 other levels...now its being changed again-i'm so behind!
He's making this up.
Everything is made up.
Repeat episode?
Yes, I think this is from November or December of 2023.
Working on self to act like ultralearner and saw this video.
Too much movies can really mess up with your head. I see it from how people who watch a lot of movies struggle in real life social interactions.
Not if the movies are of quality, not porno, and have some substance, otherwise, yes, it could be unhealthy.
Funny that Cal knows who Tim Gunn is.
You should buy the iPad keyboard

Perhaps you could make your visuals ahead of time so you would appear like an eminently capable person.

Upset because he invented things and you only can rumble nonsense in comments ?
@@MohamedAssanhaji You don’t strike me as someone well read enough to know what is new to begin with and what’s repackaged slop.
What's Carnegie?

I don't consent to the way you test out your theses. My brain is off limits because, again, I do not consent
No thank you
