    Hi
    I just wanted to know about the socket for load side: is it a spur/fused spur? or it's just a socket for motor? and what is the termination look like? I can not see the full picture for termination may be its not close enough? I do not know. Even though I had all the videos but there was not any termination for the load end?
    thanks

      Hello, thank you for your comment. Is it the Motor circuit or the Ring Final circuit that you are referring to?

    Are all the terminals between the isolator and the top of the contactor already done? And is the sy cable already pre made up of is that something you have to run yourself.

    • @XSTrainingLtd
      @XSTrainingLtd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nathan, thank you for your comment. The control cables are prewired within the DOL, yes. The only part you will need to do, is the supply to the Isolator using singles and then install and gland off the SY cable. Please watch the video in relation to the control cables though, as you will need to know these connections when you come to the fault finding.

  • @alanstewart1073

    The cable coming out of the remote switch is left out for your assessment.....am I right in saying it needs to be terminated into terminal 96

    Do you have to sleeve the L2and L3 with brown at all? Also the grey sleeve with blue?

    • @XSTrainingLtd
      @XSTrainingLtd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, thank you for your comment. L1, L2 and L3 need identifying as Brown, Black and Grey.
      Black and Grey sleeving will be used if your centre has it available. Some centres don’t and this is why the video shows an alternative way.

    Is the plastic cable tie OK, or should they now be metal ties to comply with regs?

    • @jamiegibbs5348
      @jamiegibbs5348 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The majority of AM2 centres still use the PVC clips as there would be no risk of the cable dropping in the event of a fire. A longer cable installed horizontally would definitely need metal ties. If the centres have upgraded there specifications and have metal ties, yes use them.

    Why are they asking for SY cable to be used to supply a motor ?

      Hi, this is on the specification of the AM2 practical assessment you will have to take.

    Does anyone know how you would do an insulation resistance test on this? I failed this on my AM2

    • @XSTrainingLtd
      @XSTrainingLtd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dave, you need to test IR from the board and then again from the load side to ensure you test the supply and load side. Test between L1 - L2, L1 - L3, L2 - L3, L1 - N, L2 - N, L3 - N, L1 - CPC, L2 - CPC, L3 - CPC and N - CPC from both ends.

    • @maxdunning5612

      did you test both sides of the DOL ? use the plugs on the simulated motor box to test IR to the DOL, same when you do r1+r2. hope this helps

    Is there any reason why all line cores of SY cable have been sleeved with brown, if I see correctly, rather than with brown, black and grey (for 3 phase)?

    • @jamiegibbs5348
      @jamiegibbs5348 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SY is manufactured with black insulated cores, which are numbered. Some centres ask for the cores to be sleeved brown first. Then number 2 identified with Black sleeving and number 3 with grey. If you look closely they are identified in this way. If the centre have Brown, Black and grey sleeving available, please use this. Thank you

      I’m curious because when I done my am2 we used 5 core SY but someone on our firm who just done the Am2 said it was 4 core SY, 3 for phases 1 for neutral so now you run a separate cpc?

    Do we have to terminate and 2nd fix the sy cable? Or would that be pre wired already?

      The DB is safely isolated. The connection points are not accessible and as a risk assessment has been carried out at the start and therefore I have deemed to be working in a safe manor.
