Thank you very much for the beautiful knife, this is my first ganzo and I'm already in love with it! The sharpening job is amazing and the packaging job was spot on lol
Hi Jake. I finally got one today (03/18/2023) in black G10. I like it. I love the ergonomics especially in the saber grip. I love the blade design. A very good tip with lots of belly and a good amount of flat. Thank you for your reviews. They're very helpful.
I just ordered another half dozen Ganzo knives from Power Cutlery prior to Christmas. This particular knife is not one of them. But after your review it's one that is now on my list for the New Year. Haven't received that order yet, I imagine at this time of year it will take a while. They are still pretty much out of stock on most items. Hope you and the family had a good Christmas. Have a Happy New Year. Looking forward to many more unboxings and reviews.
Yeah, PowerCutlery is a small store and he has been having a very hard time getting stock ever since Covid began, which is why he is sold out of so much.
OK, JUST when i wouldn't buy any more knives this year(!).... I couldn't resist the green one. And your recommendation. Ordered it from Power Cutlery (Whte Mtn didn't have green). BTW my best deal this week is the Buck Knives Matrixx 3.3 Folder for $12.49 (Cdn!) at Canadian Tire. I like it a lot. And Cabelas had some of their DBS line on sale for $20Cdn. Just 440 but in Micarta or Carbon. May you have a wonderful 2021, Jake.
indeed, and other materials like solid CF 9not just the laminated stuff) and wood, I really would like to see them bring wooden handles back - like they did 4+ years ago.
I agree, Power Cutlery is great - and they have lots of Ganzos in stock right now. I’m hoping they get some Sanrenmus. I’m glad Ganzo is keeping up the quality and putting out original designs. Now they need a chunky little knife like the Pilar or Squid! Happy New Year, Jake!
When CCE was young I was a factory reviewer for them and I had direct contact with them and could give them design ideas etc. But then they started sending their knives to any reviewer who would take them and a lot of the TH-cam reviewers who had very small channels were actually haters of anything from China but they got knives from Ganzo (because they didn't properly check out the reviewers) and they did terrible and nasty "reviews". the top guy at Ganzo got wind of it and totally canceled all relationships with all reviewers. It seems they were not even allowed to reply to my emails after that. It's too bad that he over-reacted against reviewers, but I can understand why he did it. That said, I hope they notice as well because Ganzo is one of my favourite Chinese brands.
I wish Ganzo would start doing micarta and I wish they would bring back wooden handles for knives too like they had when they did the G700 series. A few years ago when they switched to F700 series (and newer) they haven't done any wooden handled knives since.
@@CanadianCuttingEdge Thanks, I hope so as well. While I wait, I also bought myself FH41-BK in Poland. I wonder if it will knock my socks off :) I hope my wife won't kill me xD Maybe for you those are cheap knifes, but for my wife 30USD is nearly whole day of working. Thankfuly i earn a bit more. Thanks a lot for those videos, they helped a lot.
"And on this exciting episode of CCE knife review, everybody's favorite segment, 'Jake Goes Down A Rabbit Hole."' I like that knife a lot. If Ganzo can find a way to make the flipper tab removable, it would be perfect for me.
rabbit hole? me?? If the flipper tab was removeable (and some knives so have removeable flipper tabs - I have reviewed have them, but I forget which knife that was, wait a second, that was a rabbit trail, right?) If they were removeable they would likely still not be allowed to be imported into Canada - some stupid thing about pushing on something that isn't part of the blade in order to open it. but then, if they were logically consistent they wouldn't allow thumbstuds either.... go figure, those folks at the border are impossible to figure out.
Hey, can you see if that pocket clip will mount to the other FH knives? And if so, can you get Ganzo to sell it separately? I absolutely loathe the deep carry clips on the other models in this series...
In a way they fit. the screw hole spacing is the same. so you can put the pocket lip from the FH921 into other FH knives But (I add this for other readers) it won't work the other way around because the milled out G10 space is of different size. So the deep carry clips from other FH knives will not fit on the GH921.
I think this is a winner. The grey is my favorite. Finish looks good and I think they tumbled liners etc. to debur. I especially like that. Just curious did the knife work better after you cleaned out the grease? Happy New Year Jake !
Can we buy and change the clip to be deep pocket carry? The positioning of it is already there, just need the 'folded' type to achieve true deep carry. Or can we take from other type of ganzo (you know any compatible deep carry?) and leave that one without a clip?
The spacing and screw thread types for Ganzo's other deep clips are the same, at least on other designs starting with FB. The challenge is that the G10 flat milled section where the clip meets the handle is not the same. So if you can adapt the G10 then you are good to go with a deep Ganzo clip.
yes they are, I quite like them. but they were so very smart to make them work very well with them removed too - these can reach a much bigger group of knife lovers that way.
I don't like the way the pivot area swoops down so radically. I like the (FH 71 Wharncliffe) and (FH91 Good belly) better. Looks like another great knife thou !!
flipper knives are not illegal in Canada - BUT importing flippers into Canada is not allowed, for individuals - but knife stores in Canada can get them and they have a lot of flipper knives on the shelves.
Hey.. love your channel! Hope you're well and so is mom! I'm a fellow Canadian living in Ontario. I have a couple questions I'd love to ask your opinion on. Any chance I could email you?
I have five different Ganzo knives at the moment, but I am not planning on buying any more Ganzo knives for two reasons. First, they jumped in price at least 10-15$ on sites where I can get them here (some basic models cost as much as some Twosun cheaper options). Second is quality. I know they are (or at least were) decent for the price, but every single one of my Ganzos has at least a bit of up/down play. I have both piston lock 440c and the D2 liner lock models. I test this by holding the tip of the blade and rocking... every single one has it. Was most disappointed with the FH41 having this lock rock. Also all models have kind of bad hardware and they never improved on it even a bit. This bothers me a bit since none of my CH, Harnds, or Sanrenmu knives have this issue when tested in the same way. And most of them are in about the same price range as my Ganzos, some even way cheaper. For example I am still amazed how good the little Harnds Wind is, it never leaves my pocket. None of my Ganzo knives come even close to it.
Up and down play on Ganzo knives - that is odd. I have had over 70 of them and I have not noticed that issue. Well the axis lock versions do have a very tiny bit of rock in a few of them, but that is mostly due to how axis locks are designed. I agree, that lock rock is not acceptable. I like their current hardware quite a lot over the blue anodized hardware that they did a few years ago. Their current hardware is clearly mass produced screws that they buy from some other company, just like most knives have that come out of china. Sanrenmu has long been my favourite low cost brand. I am so happy that recently they have been focusing more on full sized folders. they used to primarily make the small stuff (which I do like as well). You have found good brands like Sanrenmu and Harnds that have much better hardware that is made specifically for knives. You could also consider checking out CIVIVI, they also have high end hardware and fairly good prices as well. (my most recent review of a CH knife has left me wondering how many more I want to review: th-cam.com/video/4AGDzrFg-bA/w-d-xo.html ) As for the Harnds Wind, I send mine to a friend who just could not use flipper knives. and after having the Wind for a short while he has figured out how to activate flipper tabs wonderfully. but that means if I want one in my small collection I will have to buy another one. Thank you for adding your comment! Happy New Year
@@CanadianCuttingEdgeHappy New Year to you too! I see that you reviewed one of the older CH models. I believe the newer ones are much better quality. I have the CH 3530 and the Toucans. Both came very good out of the box. Liners nicely chamfered, good centering, smooth action and pretty clean on first dissasembly. I was looking to buy the exact model from your review, but I think I will pass. I guess most of the problems come from the lack of QA. For example I was recently dissapointed with TwoSun. I ordered the TS49 as my first Ti framelock. I got it with a rusty blade, the detailed milling on the scales was looking like it was worn away and barely showing, besides that there was some micro pitting next to the steel insert screw on the lockbar. It looked like they sent me a used knife. Action is still on point, but in the visual department it's pretty bad. On the other hand, i did not get a single sanrenmu that had any "major" flaws, and they seem to have the best QA out of the cheaper, budget Chinese knives. I have one of their newer piston lock models on the way. I will see how that comes out of the box. Ganzos are generally good, but the up/down play on the FH41 bothers me the most. I get it that the axis lock type has some wobble, but the liner lock should not have it. My next purchase will certainly be something from harnds, as the Wind is still my favorite and most carried. The Wolverine looks like a good candidate for my next purchase. Unfortunately there is no way for me to get any Civivi knives here in Bosnia. And if there is, they would be marked up in price to a ridiculous level. But I would really like to add some of them to my collection. Thank you for the detailed reply and for the quality reviews you deliver for us.
That might be a good suggestion. But one of the things that I always consider is the availability of the knife that I will review. I can only find the PF711 at one store on AliExpress and they have limited stock. Which means that by the time I get it they will likely not have any for sale. I don't like to review something that people can't easily buy. But other than that the PT711 is a very good suggestion indeed. Good brand and good materials and very good price.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I have several people regularly asking me to put my dog in more of my videos, and very few saying the other way around, I think you have been out voted. That said, I only put my dog in a small minority of videos.
