  • With writer-director Goran Stolevski's achingly romantic, Of An Age opening in US theaters today, Friday, February 17th, 2023, the film's lead actors Elias Anton and Thom Green speak exclusively with The Queer Review's editor James Kleinmann about taking on their roles and how they approached playing their characters at different ages.
Hailed in our ★★★★★ review as “an instant queer classic”, Of An Age is set in suburban Melbourne during the summer of 1999 over an unforgettable 24 hours for Serbian immigrant Kol (Elias Anton). On the cusp of turning 18, his plan to take part in the Australian Dance finals are in put jeopardy when his best friend and dance partner Ebony (Hattie Hook) wakes up on an unknown beach miles away from the venue on the morning of the event. On a frantic mission to retrieve her and get her to the hall on time, Kol gets into the car of her older brother Adam (Thom Green), who is set to leave for Argentina the next day, and an unexpected and intense connection between the young men quickly forms. A decade on, the characters are reunited.

lovely interview and great questions. can't believe Elias has no dance background. He was amazing. And ironically Thom Green DOES have a dance background. It was funny how Thom's character didn't want to dance at the wedding. Great actors!!

wow. the chemistry, the powerful performances, the nostalgia it invokes… i agree with you in that this could definitely be an instant queer classic. i just watched this film a few days ago & i was moved. & that feeling stayed with me for a while the same way Call Me By Your Name, Free Fall & Weekend affected me. beautiful acting by these two 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾they really captured the magic & how wonderfully intoxicating first love, attraction & longing feels.

Great interview! Thom seems like a really nice and kind person. His responding to the interviewer and attention to Elias throughout was similar to how Adam was attentive/responsive to Kol. Elias here is what I would imagine Kol when he’s 20-21, laid back and not too jaded yet 😅.

Thom green is beautiful, but the moles he has on jus face protrude, and they are not attractive and they take away from his good looks.

Says the person with no picture. How does your face look? Anyways --- I love when filmmakers cast actors with unique features. And it's those unique features coupled with amazing acting ability that make people like Thom Green memorable AND attractive. He is a star!
