Every time Shannon starts with this kind of argument, all you have to do is site Jordan's 88-89 season. 32/8/8, almost 3 steals per game, lead the league in minutes, shot 54% from the floors (as a 2 guard!!!) and 85% from the line. Lebron has never had a season like this in his entire career.
so basically James Harden from the Houston era and did not win. Do you realize 85% from the line is ONLY ONE MORE FT MADE more per game than Bron? On 100, it makes a difference but if both were shooting about 7 or 8 per game....it's one FT made. would you really think you'd see Bron as a great FT shooter is nobody mentioned % and just said one more a game? that's how insignificant it is. MJ would not average 40 per game like old fans think. when the hand check rules were removed , players didn't start to score way more. this is a fact. they just talk like they did. there were players who were better than MJ from long range even in his era yet ...MJ 's career 3% is very very close to what Giannis had last 2 years. an uber competitive guy like MJ tried to shoot 3s at a higher rate but he was a 32% guy. he would have to take more shots than Harden because his 3 isn't as good and get just as many, if not more , free throws. that type of player is easy to shut down today. there's a reason we don't play the triangle anymore because it's been rendered useless but it worked vs the lame rules from the 90s.

I don’t wanna hear Shannon Sharpe talk anything basketball related… Especially when it comes to Lebron James…. It’s like Skip talking Tom Brady or Jordan…
Name one thing he said today that was wrong? This was directed at Skip Bayless who gives Lebron no credit. So Skip won’t give Lebron credit for getting to the finals in 07 and dominating for a decade and have superior competition in the finals, but gives MJ all the credit even tho he also didn’t win his first 6 years in the league and was focused on scoring and didn’t want to change anything until Phil got there so they can share the ball and be an actual team.
It's a conceiving stat, Lebron shoots the most from 0-3ft from the rim and makes ~65%.. excluding his shots from 0-3ft he shoots ~37%.. so Lebron isn't a great shooter and that's why his FG% is higher than MJ's, as anywhere on the court (excluding 0-3ft) MJ shoots ~50%
Damn right, either way you mix it no matter how much he shoots he hits half. The closer the shots the higher the percentage of course, but along w that comes the extra fouls & free throws so either way it’s advantage him.
Shannon’s argument is so weak. He is saying his team asked him to fo so much more than Mike’s team did. Lol. Lebron has basically 1 more rebound than Mike and 2 assists. Lol! Mike was as complete as Lebron ever was. He just did the harder thing, scoring and winning titles, better than Lebron. The argument is really the opposite. If Mike spent less time figuring out how to beat double teams, do you think he could have gotten 1 more rebound! They dont double team Lebron to stop him from rebounding. Do you think if Mike passed the ball a million times to Pippen or Grant he would gave gotten 2 more assists? It is not that every player needs to play like MJ but when you are talking about great players, generally they can do all facets of the game, it is that they are using what they can do to win. Does anybody think that MJ should have passed to Pippen in the game against Utah? What about the Cleveland game should he have passed to Brad Sellers? However, MJ told and got Steve Kerr (a 90% free throw shooter) a free throw line jump shot because the Knicks had to triple team him, because mike could and would beat double teams. Look at the 55 point game against the Knicks. The Bulls won on a layup!!!! By The center. Look at the 1st championship, the Lakers had to commit bodies to MJ, John Paxson, a dead eye jump shooter (not a scorer), wide open jump shot after wide open jump shot. For Shannon to act like Lebron is more complete than MJ is historically wrong and easily disproved. Add to the offense that MJ was a defensive player of the year and a few times led the league in steals (I believe he also had a year where he got 1.8! Blocks per game). Finally there was a year where MJ averaged 35+ while getting 8 rebs and 8 assts and was over 2 steals and a block. If Mj truly just scored, shannon should be arguing mJ could have averaged 43, regardless of the rule changes or the bad boy pistons.
Let me clarify a few things. The year MJ averaged 8 rebs and 8 assts, he avg 32.5 not 35. He did however almost average 3 steals (2.9). He also shot 53.8 pct from the field. Pick among several options for MJ to avg 1 more rebound: shoot a little less, play a little less defense, be concerned with getting 1 more rebound or 2 more assists.
First, lebron had kevin love. Kevin Love actually led the league in rebounding. Second. Kobe outscored shaq in almost all their playoff games so shannon point is

I'm not saying every player, e.g. Steph Curry "the revolutionizer" himself has plenty of other skills that he can utilize other than 3pt shooting, which is what makes him an even more dangerous 3pt shooter, but also scoring threat. He can move well off ball, he's fast and agile, he has a good drive game, a good floater with a high release point which is necessary in the paint with giants whilst Curry only stands at 6'3..etc. Ofc whilst he did shoot better with more attempts, there's also the correlation that he got worse with age, which is true, after the line became longer he got worse again, but in his prime during the first three peat he was dangerous there and improved the deeper he went into the playoffs, he is one of the only players to shoot 40% + in 3 separate Finals series and sure he only shoot about 4 attempts during that time, but it shows what he's capable of. Jordan wasn't a terrible 3 point shooter and you didn't prove me wrong because you just said I was wrong without backing up your answer with any statistics. He had 3 above average seasons by those metrics without the shortened line, 2 with the shortened line, because that was basically a long middie to him, which he made at an above average rate. Not to mention his 3pt% in the playoffs where he is straight up average for the era and he is above average for his Finals appearances with 37% even by today's standards. Everyone is acting like the players lebron played with weren’t all stars before they joined lebron. They would have had better individual careers had they not joined lebron. Period
And is Shannon somehow implying that Lebron would have more rings if he had shot the ball more and would not have lost 6 times in the finals? If Lebron could have won more by shooting more, then he is a coward for not doing so and a coward can't be the GOAT.

Lots of ifs, even more Nots. The fact is he didn’t concentrate on any of this and fell short in all of them.

Facts
Lebron shot less but has more points
Shannon’s research guy needs a promotion 1:00 - 1:17 that’s some very good stats
@@TheMissiIe that’s just not true at all Lebrons midrange shooting from 8-12ft gotta be around 50%
@@TheMissiIe ok… doesn’t take away it’s a great stat that required tons of research
Second. Kobe outscored shaq in almost all their playoff games so shannon point is
Right? Lebron had no help though.
So you comparing kevin love to shaq 😭😭 stop it. Kevin love ain't no scrub tho
So why does shaq have 3 finals mvps

Lebron is too great for people to fabricate. Lebron chose to do everything. His team could have benefited from him scoring more instead of focusing on filling up the ata sheet. KD averages the same amount of rebs. Maybe if Lebron actually let himself play within an actual system instead of p/r basketball he could focus more on scoring. He just didn’t want to do it. That’s the difference between him, Kobe, KD and any other scorer.
that’s one stat u taking though, on they 03-10 cavs teams, no one could create their own shot, he had to still run the offense and gets guys in their positions, bosh averaged around 6 boards playing with lebron, he was the best defender and most likely had to take the best player on the other team if they are getting hot, the only time he actually had a decent group of defenders was on the heat, he’s always had to run the offense, even this year, u see how no one else could score on the lakers and he averaged 30, and none of those guys were like rodman or shaq when it come to rebounding, there has never been a situation where he had to just score, u could probably argue the heat(maybe)

@@FrankWhite248 that's because of the era and how he's allowed to shoot more 3s, in fact Jordan shot a better 3pt percentage when he shot more threes and has stated that he doesn't work on the threes part of his because it detracts from his whole game, which I agree with considering how some players today ignore other skills just for three point shooting.
The thing that goes against Michael Jordan is that his 0.1-0.5 3pt attempt seasons get counted against him and count towards his percentage. If you only count the percentages from the years he attempted at least one three, he shot 35% for his career.
@@FrankWhite248 bro do you know what the average 3pt shooting percentage was back then and now ? 33% on less average attempts back then and 35% on more average attempts now.
