Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! Let us know what below what your favorite house was at Hampden's Miracle on 34th Street. We hope you enjoyed our holiday videos this season. We can't wait to show you what's in store for 2023!
No way, Hon! Youse 'n Balmer celebratin' da Hol-day! Right down der at de Inner Harbor. An' y'all even made it up to Hampden. Yer prackly a native! Ah can't believe, Hon, 'at yer in mah backyard! And youse even foun' out about the pickle orn'ment! Way to go! Just to advise that one does not pronounce the "P" in Hampden. Nonetheless, glad to see a TH-cam video about my hometown. Thank you...Hon. Yes, "Hon" is still a thing, though nowadays one does not hear our local term-of-endearment as often as when I was younger. Nice to see the shout-out to Natty Boh. I love the "Hon" House (always do), though the entire street is truly a Christmas Miracle. Thanks, again, for showcasing the nice parts of the city. Happy New Year to you and yours.
It was important for Andrea to make this response: Christmas is magical in Baltimore so I insisted we showcase some of the sites. I tried very hard to work on his pronunciation, but as someone not from Baltimore, he couldn’t quite get it. 😆 I promise I’ll continue to work on it with him since we are just scratching the surface of everything Baltimore has to offer! While I’ve lived her for a number of years, I am not an expert so what is a must do for visiting the city?
@@JLewTravels I didn’t mean to correct Jon’s pronunciation, only to advise how a local would pronounce Hampden, which is more of a lazy Baltimorese, where one or two consonants in a word are not pronounced - like how Baltimore becomes “Balmer.” You visited the three spots I would advise any visitor to our fair city to visit for the Holidays. The only other spots I can think of are: the Constellation as it has recently returned to its permanent mooring at the Inner Harbor after some much needed refurbishment, although not necessarily a Holiday event. Lexington Market has just recently reopened and should be worth a visit, though like the Constellation, more of a historical site. The Washington Monument in Mount Vernon has an annual lighting ceremony around December 1st. The Zoo used to offer a Festival of Lights, and I believe the B&O Railroad Museum (always worth a visit any time of year) offers a Holiday event or two. Thank you, both, for highlighting my home town, which has fallen on some hard times; however, history and culture are still part of its makeup and offer fun and adventure to the intrepid traveler. Happy New Year!
