    This just makes me so glad I don’t use tiktok. I know I miss out on some things that everyone else my age is doing and sometimes I get fomo and almost download it, but then I see stuff like this and I’m reminded why I’m never going to let myself get it. I don’t know how other people are emotionally recovering from seeing themselves with that filter on because I know that would wreck my self esteem lol. It’s just not worth it to me to let myself be in that space when it seems like it’s engineered to make everyone as insecure as possible

      its somehow the opposite for me. I look different with the filter- attractive sure but not the kind of attractive i want to look like- the filters are fun but they change how i look so much i don't even feel like the person i see is myself, so I'm not envious of it.

    Some make-up tips - like nose contouring- only looks good in photos... Under the right lighting. I remember I used to contour my nose and it always looked way bigger because the makeup drew attention to the nose. It looks great in SOME photos, but in general my nose looks better when I leave it alone or brush bronzer over ridge.

    • @M-Jje8nj
      @M-Jje8nj ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Depends on many factors? Like, lol, there are many types of contours, and I say if you don’t have much experience and wanna go for a “natural” look use powdered contour instead of a stick (Too Cool For School’s Art Class Modern is my favourite cause I’m white and have a cool toned skin, if you’re dark skinned you might wanna do some research). Nose contouring also requires skill, so I say instead of quitting contouring, just practice more and try to find products that will help you to enhance your look

    • @herbivore15
      @herbivore15 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Pro tip for everyone: Take good AND bad pictures of yourself. As you get older it's really easy to look back at a younger you and stress about aging. As a menstruating woman in her 30s I can go through body dismorphia when looking at past photos of myself but that is quickly remedied when I find a 3 year old unflattering picture where i can also see that the new negative thing I'm distressing about isn't new.

    • @normalabbie
      @normalabbie ปีที่แล้ว +35

      @@MasterInHD that's not always the case. As someone with super high cheekbones, I hated them throughout my teens and 20s, because I looked way older than my peers, but now, in my 30s, I've grown nicely into my features, and my strong facial structure actually makes me appear more youthful now, and more attractive than my awkward younger years....

    • @رزيئة
      @رزيئة ปีที่แล้ว

      @Master the human body stops growing at 25-30 for most people. No one looks good in their 20s because they're still going through puberty. And from my anecdotal observations most people in their 20s are hideous and look like teens or even children, they only start looking good in their late 20s and 30s. Sorry I'm not a pedo so I don't find 20 year olds attractive, I prefer actual adults who look their age.

      Soft light looks good on soft faces, harsh light looks good on harsh faces. There was a video I saw about this, can't remember who made it though. I have a soft face, pictures where the light is directly hitting my face all at once, meaning not much shadows, I look great. But pictures where the light only hits half my face, I look pretty bad. Harsher faces have stronger bone structure, which helps keep the skin more taught and therefore the harsher faces appear good under harsher lighting, lighting that creates a lot of contrast essentially. But harsher lighting on softer faces exposes their lack of harshness, so all the lines are visible because the skin is less taught.

    This is why I never use filters on my photos that change my physical appearance to this extreme for my OWN self-esteem xD The most I'll do is increase light/contrast/saturation.

      Yikes. Plus it always looks obviously contoured on black women, and oh no, not the bronzer! I just hope this trend dies lol. I've found the best way to do makeup on my nose is to put a highlighter on the tip, just a dot. And very little of a darker shade on the nose area between my eyes. It's barely noticeable but gives me a 'slope' and emphasizes my favorite part, which is the base.

    Fillers aren't the only way to improve the appearance of your lips. A bullhorn lip lift can make your upper lift appear bigger in a natural way without the use of fillers. It also decreases the philtrum, or the distance between the lower lip and chin, creating a fresher younger appearance. Also, if one has downturned shaped lips, they could get a corner lip lift to lift the corners of their mouth.

    I'll have to disagree on your description of how a nose contour should be done with makeup. But then I think you went for the easiest and quickest description.
    The straight, continuous lines only work on a specific type of nose to achieve a believable, slimmer nose. Do this on mine and a helicopter would probably land on it.

    • @millalaure
      @millalaure ปีที่แล้ว

      I think an important part is where and how you draw this lines. Sure, If you create thicc stripes next to the nose bridge, it won't work. If their thin and close to each other ON it, I've seen it work for any ethniticy. If you got other parts except for the width you wanna change (e.g. nose bump) you may take that into considération and adjust it, otherwise I think it's mostly training:)

      @@millalaure I'm a certified MUA and I still politely disagree with what you're saying. The thickness of the lines do matter but what works is more of a targeted job, not two mindless lines side to side. Unrelated, but maybe this could be an interesting video topic. Hear me out: I've recently noticed some people almost NEVER notice eye colour. Yesterday my best friend of 10 years couldn't answer when asked my eye colour, it's brown and she thought it was light blue. My eye are very big (I mean Anya Taylor Joy kind of big eyes) and my most prominent facial feature, I don't wear glasses and we always look at each other while speaking. As I said, we've been friends for 10 years. The fact that she couldn't answer was baffling to me. I always notice eye colour when I meet new people. Maybe I can't tell the exact shade of blue of strangers, but I 90% know whether the eyes are light, dark or in-between even for people I've only met once. Eye colour also changed the attraction I have for someone: I wouldn't like someone only for their eye colours, but I've found that people with light blue eyes make me feel much more intrigued (my partner has hazel eyes and I would never change him but I recognize that people with different eye colour have a certain plus effect). So I've started asking around to friends and family: some people don't notice eye colour, like my friend, and don't seem to care about eye colour in a partner. Some people always do, like me, and tend to generally prefer a certain eye colour, even though it's not the most important factor in attraction (but even if it's a minor factor, it's still a factor). Other are in-between, they told me thet only sometimes notice eye colours and care little unless it's a very peculiar colour. So I was thinking how it os possible to have a relation with a person for years and still not knowing how their eyes look like, while you perfectly know how the rest of the face looks like. my friend has no trouble sketching faces accurately, she notices colours (she's an artist and she comments on the colours of paintings, hair, clothes, anything), just not eye colours. Like, I get some don't notice this in acquaintances, but family, life-long friends, partners? Crazy. Maybe these people have some sort of deficit and can't pick up eye colours. I've tried to find some studies about it, but couldn't find much. Maybe it could be a nice inspiration for a video, also because for some people eye colours are linked go attraction, and for others it's not the case.

      I think QOVES touched on this in a video(not exactly sure which one) and he said that it wasn’t so much eye color, but the shape of the eyes, eyelids, width, and size of it that were the most memorable. If you have unique eyes in these respects people are more likely to remember the color as well. I’m an artist so i notice eye colors but mostly when the eyes are really striking. I lived in Asia for several years so coming to America and seeing all these different eye colors was really shocking. Whenever i talked to people with blue eyes I’d just get freaked out and couldn’t keep eye contact with them at all lol. If you live in a place with many different eye colors i think you notice them a lot less.

    The other thing I don't like about the TikTok filters is that I already have big almond eyes, a small nose, very full lips, and am overall pretty androgenous looking (not really by choice that's just my face, think Prince but a few inches taller), so the filters just make me look suuuuper odd and unnatural. I feel like that's something they didn't account for. I hate looking at myself through an odd/distorted lens.

  • @BugsHaveProtein
    @BugsHaveProtein 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    irl it’s totally okay to not be conventionally beautiful unless you’re in a career that requires it. Looking presentable and having a good personality is what most people need, so accepting that they aren’t “beautiful” and moving on is likely the best way to go. There are people that look like these filters out there. Just set your standards of “beauty” to that and notice that very few people ever come close. Very few people are algorithmically beautiful, and all of them will not be at that pinnacle for long. There are diminishing returns to happiness in beauty.

    We’re going to get to point where the new gen will define their attraction by how good they look simply in photos and filters.
    I’ll leave this thought to everyone who has eyes to see , but we’re already living in a delusion world where words no longer mean shit , nor does factual evidence.
    The woman with the baby was deff not right for doing that,
    Do that enough to a child and the child will only choose to perceive themselves through those lenses regardless of “fact”
    Because what are facts of everyone makes up their own truth? And we are all forced to play along .
    With all the change in society and forcing acceptance of literally eveything regardless of fact, we’re bound to destroy what beauty is . And the whole golden ratio thing.
    In my opinion beauty does matter, but our way of life and habits have drastically changed our facial structures and our genetics.
    And although there are thing to fix it in the long term for future generations people would much rather chomp on a pastry .
    I love these videos but sadly I think one day they will just be dismissed.

    Seeing a one-off demo of this would be an amazing feat of technological innovation.
    Seeing this used in plastic surgery clinics to mock up (achievable) results for patients would be a real tool.
    Seeing this released in the wild, so to speak, for everyone on TikTok to experiment on themselves with is just inviting a tragic mental health crisis to get that much worse.
    To anyone feeling bad about themselves as a result: I would imagine there are few, if any faces in the history of our species who would be spared from the critical gaze of this filter. You could probably be Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie at their aesthetic peak, and the AI would still find a way to make you look "better" by thickening your eyebrows, defining your cheekbones, and brightening your skin even more.

    That baby with the filter😧 I mean moms please leave your babies alone. I've noticed one thing that while yes the people with the filter looked attractive but I get sick of looking at the same set of features : the thick brows, full lips, those dramatic cheekbones. Looks good for a while but then it no longer stands out to me. I'm pretty sure soon we'd have this trend where people who haven't got any cosmetic surgery or no filters in general will become the new beauty standard and I'm hoping for it. Also its just me then but I find people's faces with their own quirks attractive like we all have our charm and when we all try to duplicate one person's charm we end up losing our own unique beauty. Forgive me if this makes little sense English is not my first language and I'm still learning it. I keep seeing the same type of look with these filters and to me once is enough but seeing it over and again is like eating your favorite food a thousand times in a row. it gets boring and you lose interest in it. Glad I dont use tik tok and insta.
