      @@unisbiggestlover Despite how things look for Bulgaria, most of the population loss is due to people leaving the country, the fertility rate has actually been on the rise for the past ~15 years, similar with Romania, up to 1.6 and 1.65 respectively, with 1.61 being the Average for Europe. Projections are still an upgoing for both countries, I believe it is a similar story for many of the other European countries as well. So anything could change in just a few years. You just never know. This is happening while many of the countries with higher Fertility rate are actually trending downwards, to a fertility decrease. I believe this chart takes in account Emigration and Immigration as set in stone figures, which is just plain wrong :D. I doubt most of these countries will go up or down in population as much as the predictions here say.

    I get that these are projections based on current trends. But, nearly eighty years of growth or decline makes a lot of assumptions. The scarcity of resources, specifically clean drinking water, climate change, etc. will severely limit certain areas from the kind of growth being shown here. Many places will be under water from melting polar ice caps. Other places will be too hot or dry to maintain large populations. Wars for finite resouces will kill and displace millions. Other places will become new frontiers for settlement as they become more hospitable for mass population growth.

      @@dimushka383 You have an argument, and I will try to explain it in more detail and with more background.
      The fact that the majority of the population lives on the coasts occurs worldwide because as a society we need a source of drinking water, however, although most of us are on the coasts, the food to sustain the urban centers comes from the rural areas, I myself live in the interior of my country in a city with more than 300,000 people but that its main focus is to export agricultural products and the neighboring cities also do this.
      In conclusion I believe that Nigeria can reach this exorbitant amount of people because it would be necessary, a giant rural area to sustain so many people, I know that it is possible to import from other countries but having one's own production is still fundamental for sustenance and population growth. China does not have this population at random, it has much cultivable area and several rivers crossing your country, in the case of Russia the same has most of its territory with a very harsh climate and very difficult to planting, is Russia that have the coldest cities in the world, Canada and Australia also have problems that hinder its population expansion.

    These are based on projections. Just remember that most of those African countries will never be able to sustain those popularions and mant of the countries that can will be in bad shape becuase of it. The United States slow and steady population growth is the best way to go. Europeans plummeting population will cause them economic stagnation like they haven't seen since the dark ages also. Same with Japan and China. India's population will slow down but considering how high the population will be it is a good thing as long as it doesn't start going down. The one thing these projections fail to predict is a worldwide population that becomes stagnant and falls which could happen.

    It is an idealized model that the population of developing countries cannot grow indefinitely. In fact, if the rate of development of society if not keeping up with the growth of population will lead to falling into the Malthusian trap, at that time nature or war, will put up the Maxim machine gun and fire wildly, the population will plummet by 30% or even more than half in a short period of time, as it has been historically.

    • @Ooslewaves
      @Ooslewaves 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Some of these countries are majority desert, but most of the population live in more fertile coastal lands or savannahs which make up a small part of the country.
      I thibk that population growth is really a paradox itself. The poorer and more starved a country is, the more it grows in population. The people see having children as one of their only options for the financial success of their own families.
      However it is also entirely possible there is a lack of finite resources to sustain this growth.

      Many countries experienced population boom during the latter part of 20th century due to high fertility rate. But those countries experienced a decrease of fertility rate in the first 2 decades of 21th century. Many experts predict this trends will continue in the next few decades for some countries like China and Japan. Low fertility rate means few children are being born unlike before. For those people, who are born in 20th century including me. Unfortunately, we can't live forever. We will die within the next few decades. It's the time when the population will decrease because deaths outnumbered the birth rates.

      Developing nations tend to have many kids because they need the labor to survive, as they don’t have much money. They also have a lot of kids because the culture is to have a lot of kids expecting them to die early in childhood. Add this high birth rate to newer medical practices from developed countries leads to most kids surviving, the population growth skyrockets. In developed countries children have started becoming a hindrance to the parents so a lot of people don’t have kids or just one kid.
