I saw Chelsea Wolfe in June 2022 - always loved this song of her's - but a the time had no idea when she did this song as her encore - that it was a tribute to Mark Lanegan
Just saw her live here in Seattle. It was her second to last song. All I could think about was what this cover and Marks legacy

I think this song is about a longing for someone who is gone, to hold them in a simpler time and place, free of complications... and coming to peace with that longing, because it will never be fulfilled. Life is too complex. That simple place of closeness, that clear, plain and uncomplicated love exists only in your soul.

I love this song so much, I remember playing this with two other people on a radio station in Cape Town SA. Gallows Hill I think we called ourselves. Was a while back. Good memories.......Ha I see the name has been taken over, all good. We actually have a place here in Cape Town called Gallows Hill, hence the name at the time. Take a wild guess what used to happen there back in the day. RIP Lanegan
