Brilliant video, Chris is absolutely superb at sorting you out with glasses, made me some a couple of years ago as i suffer with v syndrome and couldnt see a thing past 4ft everything was blurred, Chris was trialing a new lens and they were game changers. Crystal clear over the whole table. Likewise he was going to supply free but i paid for them and would happily pay double as nothing else worked. Top man.
I didn't have a lot of confidence as I had tried so many types of glasses and other methods but Chris turned it around for me. I've had Sjogrens Syndrome for a number of years and my eyes just got dryer and dryer and with the bright lights and glare I thought I was done last season but with a few adjustments I'm back and confidence is growing again. Chris listened to all the issues and we spoke over the phone more than once so he's certainly a game changer if you are having problems with your vision or glare.
So ive got round this now by putting a little celotape strip just across the bottom of both lenses, so it fills that gap and props your glasses up, works perfect no more messing about, just trim the celotape and double it over in the middle 👍
Brilliant video thank you very much for sharing, I also where glasses and have recently started playing snooker with my son and find it hard to wear my glasses when playing this is something I will definitely look into getting sorted 👍
Thanks mate not many do videos for us who wear glasses. I've been playing a few years but struggle to see the line of the shot correctly due to what I hope is illusions and distortions looking through the top of my glasses. Also, you have to bend your neck further back to be able to see through the glasses as opposed to over the top which causes more tension everywhere. Think it's time to invest! 👍🏼
Hi Ben Agreed. I tried bending my neck further up to look through the centre of the glasses more but we're not really designed to do that. I actually do stretches so I cam get lower on the shot by twisting more and that takes a little of the tension off. With that and the angle of the glasses that Chris produced I'm pretty comfortable now.
This is a great video. I too unfortunately have to wear glasses. When I took snooker semi-seriously had a highest break of 48 and would average a high of 25-35in a match. Not great by any stretch 😅 but I was happy with the return on the time I put in. I have since taken snooker back up, this time wearing glasses. Although much less seriously than before, my safety play is decentish, definetly the best part of my game, can break off well for my level and pretty decent positional play. Main problem is potting balls. Because of my glasses I am looking over the rim of the glasses constantly when down on the shot, and consequently my body movement is massively in flux throughout the shot. Anything more than 25, I struggle massively to make in a frame. My question to all of you is: if I have no eye problems when it comes to wearing daily contact lenses, should I switch to them? Or just get a different set of glasses? I am -6 in RE and -4.75 in LE so when I'm down on the shot each eye produces a slightly different image. It's so frustrating to miss a pot and find perfect position 7/10 times, and on 3/10 to pot the O.B too timidly so I miss out on position. Hi Jonathan Thanks for your kind words on the video. I've worn contacts, small glasses with the rims in the way of my vision and now the glasses I got from Chris at Snookerspex. The contacts were better than nothing but you lose a bit of focus / clarity of vision with them. The specialist snooker glasses don't give me this problem, the vision is crystal clear and has transformed what I can see. The size of the lenses are larger than the standard glasses I used to wear for snooker so I'm only looking through the lenses as the rims are now above my eye line. As regards the rims, Chris has made the glasses rimless so even if they were in my vision (which they're not) I wouldn't see them anyway. For me, there's no comparison to contact lenses as all the issues are removed by wearing glasses tailored for snooker. Chris was recommended to me by a team mate and I'm so glad I had a chat over my issues with vision and snooker, now all I have to do is pot more balls!
Very interesting! I typically wear glasses just for driving, and make do without them for snooker as my myopia is quite weak and I have a negligible astigmatism (only -0.75 on the right and -0.25 on the left). Perhaps one of these contraptions could help make my vision just a bit clearer. Any idea where to find a spoony?
Hiya I've not seen a spoony for a while. The larger glasses sorted me out. Got them from a guy called Chris at snookerspex.com, some are less than £100! Definitely worth a look.
Hey thanks for this. Those glasses also look relatively inconspicuous as opposed the the larger snooker glasses. Could I ask which ones they are from the website?
I have the same problem too...my style of aiming is bend down low cheek touching cue..then I have double vision...contact lens too dry..will double vision when my eye aim up...
Got mine this week, absolutely brilliant!! So happy i can actually see the balls clearly and when down on the shot.

I've heard of a few players doing that. As long as you have larger glasses so a larger focus area in the lens without curvature then should be good.
