My oh my you're good.
Jensen brings so much emotion and depth to this character. He's one of the best actors I have ever seen. He plays this funny guy who has seen so many ugly things but still manages to get up in the morning and save people from more ugliness. Dean has the biggest heart. He would do anything to save the people close to him; he'd even die. He would sacrifice anything, even himself, to save his brother. The love he has for Sammy is just amazing. No matter what happens you can always count on Dean Winchester.

Jensen has such a paternal air to him that carries into Dean. You really believe that he will take care of everyone around him. Both good actors but Jensen just brings so much emotion...

I cried when he did too, and that I felt pity for him because even the lord of hunger affects everyone but Dean is apparently so dead inside that it doesn't affect him at all. His illusion psychiatrist was formed to help him cope with his feelings but it never truly did much. Sam is so much more honest than him, but Dean just keeps trying to stabilize his feelings so that he doesn't break down. He's sooo impacting of a character that even Sam's illusion of Dean was impacting to me when he said "What's my plan? My plan is to fight! My plan is to try! My plan is to give a damn!"(season 9x01)
I tell ya, Jensen was great in all 12 seasons so far but his performance as Dean with the Mark of Cain is his best work. he shouldve won an Emmy or Golden Globe for Season 9 or 10.
Definitely agree with that! He has so many good scenes with the mark of cain. Season 9 and 10 were my favourite because of him!
I totally agree, his performance especially amazes me when Dean kills Cain, I have no idea how but he managed to completely exude the air of a broken man, like even his eyes seemed to have less of a spark in them, it didn't look like an actor pretending, it looked like he was genuinely terrified and done. Idk Jensen is just incredible
Eleanor Winter Seasons 9 and 10 are my favourite too, I'm so glad that the writers created that story arc for Dean, especially since most were centred around Sam beforehand.
You made great choices here and I agree with them all, but number one for me will always be at the end of season 2 when Sam is dead on the bed and Dean is asking/screaming "what am I supposed to do?"
That whole monologue just destroyed me.
mine from 4 season episode 10, when Dean talks about his being in hell not 4 month, so on...Jensen also told in Comic-Con that was the hardest scene in 4 season, after shooting he couldn't calm down for some time. As he said it seemed to him for a moment like he really was in hell.. and all the feelings..

Eleanor Winter Don't forget what I feel is the best Dean scene in the whole show, Season 2 where Dean gets sent to the alternate reality by the Djinn. When he finally realized this wasn't the perfect life he wanted and he is talking to John's grave, it is such a powerful monologue. Hell, even the last scene of that episode where Dean is telling Sam about it is also great.
calliestephen That has always been my ALL TIME FAVORITE scene ever out of all SPN episodes!!!! When I met Jensen @ Nashcon2016 I told him that and how he should have won some kind of award for that performance!!!! I have someone making me a huge print made with a pic from that scene where he has a tear rolling down his cheek and everything he said to Sammy is wrote next to it all the way down the print. I'm taking it so he can sign it for me at Nashcon next yr then I can frame it and hang it up! I can't wait to get it😁 You're the first person who's ever liked the same scene as me! It's just pure perfection, he's such an awesome actor to begin with anyways, I swear!!!❤🖤
That one is my second favorite scene, my first (which I have watched a gazillion times because of their relationship) is when Sammy is stabbed and Dean is running to him screaming no and goes to catch him.... S2 E21 (right before the monologue over Sam’s body). I cry every single time I watch it.
"Don't get mad at me. Don't you do that. I had to" the way he said that breaks my heart 😢
The whole doctor thing in "Sam, Interrupted" really gets me, because *finally* there is someone other than Sam who wants Dean to not have the weight of the world on his shoulders

My favorite Dean moment was always when he sold his soul for Sam. I love how selfless he is. Jensen is an incredible actor, he manages to put so much emotion and power into his character and the scene he's acting out. Jared is a great actor to, but because of Jensen Dean has much more emotional depth. It's what always drew me to him.

I was reading the comments first and that line made me feel so sorrow because everytime I watch that scene, Jensen make me feel Dean’s Pain.
That bad boys episode really hit me. It really captured how he always puts his family over his own happiness
We constantly see Dean and Sam sacrifice so much for each other, that it's so heartbreaking to see them sacrifice their happiness for someone else. When Dean left Lisa and Ben so they'd be safe and happy... out of all the heartbreaking scenes in this video and on the show... that's the one scene I have to look away from because it's SO upsetting!
I love how the flashbacks are directed that way so we can't see John. You might think that they were too lazy to cast someone, but I'm pretty sure it's a way to show that John was never there for them, so to make us understand how Sam and Dean felt, we can't see John. Cool
Everyone is talking about Jared's and Jensen's amazing acting in the comments. But can we also give props to the kid, who plays young Dean? He's got his and mannerisms and expressions down to a t!

Dean's heart-breaking confession in Season 2 Episode 4 "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things" and his last words to Sam in Season 3 Episode 16 "No Rest For The Wicked" deserve honorable mentions.
As well as his moment of clarity in Season 2 Episode 3 "Bloodlust" which ended with a beautiful shot of Dean sporting a halo (which was, according to the crew, unintentional but kept)
You know, I feel like people forget that through all of this they are really feeling the pain that Sam and Dean feel. When they start filming, they ARE Sam and Dean, not Jared and Jensen. And that just makes these scenes a lot more emotional.

I'm surprised the Dean vs. Demon Dean scene from Dream A Little Dream Of Me wasn't in this. It was such a powerful scene and we finally saw Dean break from all the pressure that was placed on him in his own head, a place where Sam & nobody else could see him break, and mention how it's not fair how he's going to hell and just violently blurt out everything that had been bottled inside. I think that scene goes well with the #1 scene from this from Everybody Loves A Clown where he smashes the Impala because that was pretty much the same thing minus the words we heard in Dream A Little Dream Of Me (also Dean hadn't made the deal to bring Sam back yet at that time).
Another one of my favorites is from My Bloody Valentine after Famine tells Dean that he's dead inside and Sam is detoxing in Bobby's panic room when Dean is outside praying for help in complete utter desperation. And of course there's the Swan Song scene where Lucifer is beating the hell out of (or should I say into) Dean and Dean keeps telling Sam that he won't leave him, hoping he could get past Lucifer's control and to Sam. My favorite episode, Croatoan, has a nice Dean scene too---where he locks himself with Sam expecting to die together with him and gives his speech about him being tired and not wanting to go on anymore.

Terrific clips of heartbreaking Dean scenes! I love, love, LOVE when Dean calls Sam "Sammy"! Jared & Jensen play so well off each other in any kind of scene...in every single scene, and when they cry...wow, just WOW! It took me a month and two days, but I have watched all 12 seasons, thanks to Netflix, and now I'm rewatching it again. Nope, I am not hooked on this show at all. LOL
