- Okay, here's one for all you Avon worshippers out there. Yes, you know who you are! And even if you don't go weak at the knees at the mere mention of his name, I'm sure you can enjoy the pretty pictures :))
Kudos, as always, to the entire Blake's team and a massive thank you to the fabulous Mr Paul Darrow without whom etc etc etc...
Who ever put this together was a genius.
RIP Paul Darrow- It might have been called Blake's 7, but the real star was Avon. Hewas also in Doctor Who and voicing a Star Wars animation- how cool can one man get?
I've just started watching and I'm still on Series One, but so far I think Avon is the best character. I doubt I'll change my mind!

Avon suffered from the sphinx like smile. He could never be Federation, even Blake knew that, Avon was too much the individual. Avon was always too curious about what was it was to be a man or to be human. He could never be Federation, try as hard as he might? He had the motivation of honor, now that didn't suit the Federation at all.

The late Paul Darrow a brilliant actor. On stage and on tv. What a character to play in Avon. A pretty good fit to the music here too but he must have some regrets ,he just dosent admit to them in Blakes seven. A brilliant portrayal. Cally must have known but that will remain unknown unless its covered in any fan fic about Avon ;-)
oh god those eyes. A face like a fallen angel. And those moves, he is so feline, almost female, even. Sure wish I could be chained in his dungeon....

And he does move like a cat, I m not the only one who sees it. He s so lithe. Have you watched how he runs? Like he s pushing the air back with that one hand. Ohhh how sexy is that?
And yet, do you know, they say he is famously clumsy. This might account for how graceful he is, paradoxically, because he wouldn't see it himself. I find myself comparing him to Rhys-Meyers because he is sculpted and haughty too, but he is a pale copy, really and I am sure that comes from him being very aware of his looks. In B7 days, men didnt focus on being beautiful and now they are vain and not in a good way.
And, Avon really really has that androgynous thing going on. That thing that is slightly female but never feminine. You cannot put your finger on it (but you know you would like to).
Lol!!! I m sorry , but I just don t see the andogynous thing. Although I do know Paul is a bit clumsy. He broke some of the props way back in the days.
how can you not!! Its that whole way of standing and moving. He stands like a girl. Hands on hips, or one hand arranged on some nearby chairback...he and Servalan are mirror images. Plus, now did you notice this, right, he is always caressing phallic objects. I swear he doesn't know he's doing it. It can't be contrived, they didnt do enough takes for that.

Timely weighing in here 8 years on. That would be Disdainful Avon vis-a-vis Cavalier Danger Man. Like them both. Secret Agent has the cultural palette of a Goldfinger-era Bond, whereas Avon has the deadpan humor of an Octopussy-era Bond. IMMHO. Not holding my breath for a reply, but this was a great proposed discuss. C'mon people...
