    Thank you for highlighting this restaurant in Bali and also Indonesian food, but I can see why some people would say that the title is misleading. The restaurant owner has made it clear in the video that each region in Indonesia has its own unique cuisine, including Bali. The dishes in the restaurant come from all over Indonesia, so the title “Bali’s authentic flavors” is kind of misleading as foreigners who are not familiar with Indonesia might think that this is what Balinese food is all about. It’s like highlighting French cuisine and calling the episode “Europe’s authentic flavors”. It’s not wrong, just misleading.

    • @williamburcher3460
      @williamburcher3460 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Totally agree, although it'd be more like showcasing (Western) European cuisine and then calling the episode 'France's authentic flavors', or showing Italian cuisine and then calling it 'Sicily's authentic flavors'...

    • @ak101lover
      @ak101lover ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep agree but I believe this is a deep rooted misconception that is currently been happening especially in Western countries. Once I went to a stationery store in Brisbane and saw they sold this plug adapter and written in its packaging is: Europe, US, and Bali. Bali.. not Indonesia. Granted, this is for marketing purpose and people know Bali better than they knew Indonesia. Heck, even I went to the bank and once the rep tried to sell me this travel card for, you guess it, Bali.

    The title is misleading. I wouldn't consider the foods here are all Balinese food, Indonesian food in general, yes. Balinese food has very distinct flavors as every others Indonesian's foods. Balinese food is known for using mixtures of many spices and aromatics called 'basa genep' and 'basa gede' to seasoned and give taste to the food. We also have some food that only requires very little ingredients, such as 'suna cekuh' , 'sere tabia' although it's not as complex as the spices in 'basa genep' and 'basa gede' the flavors are still in my opinion authentic Balinese. Also since Bali is predominantly Hindus, here also known for using pork as a source of protein options.

    Bali authentic flavour would be ayam betutu, sate lilit and babi guling of course. I've been to warung local and they don't serve those dishes. However, they do serve a mix of Indonesian dishes. Regarding them hiring locals, it's 20 times cheaper to have a local chef compared to hiring a foreign chef (plus lots of paperwork to get a kitas for the foreign chef), so please stop this nonsense of contributing to the 'community'.
