Just installed a set of these on my GS. Gotta say, between this video and the lack of written instructions provided… I’m amazed I got them fitted. There were multiple washers provided which are not shown in this video, nor are abundantly clear where they go. Further to this, the front upper bolts are barely long enough to thread into the provided nylock nuts - they don’t fit if you include the provided washers. Another issue was the torque specs. The BMW crash bar fitting instructions advise 19Nm on the upper and lower forward bolts which mount into the engine - the 38Nm recommended here is too much. Another issue I had on the RH side - the forward upper bolt wouldn’t align through the bars and engine tab, despite all other bolts being sufficiently loose to allow alignment, it took a significant amount of heaving to get the bolt in. Another concern is that the uppermost rear bar fouls agains the plastic trim - i expect this will wear aware the plastic over time due to vibrations.
Thanks for sharing your feedback and your opinion. Just wondering why you’re amazed that you managed to fit it? Written instructions are a thing of the past. They lack details. The video offers 10x more. Just have to carefully watch it. FYI, this video was shot a few years ago. Some hardware may have changed since then. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have concerns about the fitment etc. please email or call us for advice. That way you can avoid running into issues.
Nice install vid. I'm going to buy a GS and your crashbars look like a much better alternative than the others I've seen.
Thank you!
