@@stephanielight4161 But there isn't a issue. A Supreme Court Justice can have a opinion, any opinion, that he or she wants. This doesn't make them impartial. They have to judge cases based on the facts and merit. Just because they rule the way you don't like doesn't mean they have no credibility.
This is why the corporate types need to be expunged from the Democratic Party. Sunny couldn’t even bring herself to acknowledging a successful exposé on abuse of power, since it would also expose her own hypocrisy with previous leaks that turned out to be true but which she spun as “Russian propaganda” since they went against Democrats. There's this divide between people who hold hard religious beliefs and those that don't. The problem I see is that many of those that are holding those hard beliefs are the worst of us doing everything that the Bible says not to do, but then going to church on Sunday to repent. It is weird and does not make sense to me. They turn their noses up at other people who are honestly just trying to live and try to force their beliefs on everyone. We are a country of many peoples and many religions. They of all people know you should not be trying to force anything on anyone. All you can and should be doing is trying to live your own best life and not worry about everyone else. There are some basic principles that we all should come to the table with and that is no crime, no murders, no purposely hurting people, no heavy drugs that could kill you, and retention of a peaceful way of life no matter what god you serve.

We got to admit Chief Justice Roberts answered the questions he was asked perfectly. Not biased and as a judge should.

The point is that this was NOT taken out of context. You hear the question, the answer and the full conversation. They jus thought they were talking to people on her side.

There is more on the tape that shows the vindictiveness of Martha Alito. She is still fuming about a reporter who, 20 years ago, wrote about how she dressed. She was mad that the reporter won a Pulitzer after that, so she called the reporter up and mocked her.
They talked to a stranger and spewed this themselves. If they reveal this much to a stranger, imagine what they tell their donors.
Side note: why do they even HAVE donors? They’re not campaigning, they have a lifetime appointment and they’re supposed to rule in an objective manner…

Do you realize that it is the solemn duty of the entire Judicial Branch of government to be as absolutely conservative in regard to the law as is humanly possible? *THAT* is the *job* of the Judicial branch of government. *PROGRESSIVE* or *LIBERAL* legal actions are *_supposed_* to be carried out by the Legislative branch *_only._* The Executive branch is duty bound to take *ACTION* on the law-to *ENFORCE* it-but *_not_* to change it in any way. The producers of the view did not do their homework. The reporter in question did not lie. She is a member of the organization registered under her own name. Also, she signed up for the event under her own name.

I listened to the entire recording for Alito's wife. My larger issue is this event was Federalists Society for the Judges to meet with corporate donors. Also, Roberts is now ruling with the far right of the court every time. They've clearly designated Barrett to vote with the other side, while the right still rules radically for the Christian right.
Do what’s so gotcha about these tapes. If Justice Robert’s was able to stay professional and answer the right way then all this does is expose Justice Alito. He doesn’t belong on the court. Period!

Too bad the same isn't expected of The Supreme Court, of all people. Accepting gifts from the owners of hedge funds who might, or might not, benefit from the Court's decisions is beyond the pale.

In the United States you have the freedom to fly whatever flag you please. Various 'flag laws' that have been passed over the centuries have been struck down by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional infringements on freedom of expression and speech.

That sounds VERY REAL AND AUTHENTIC. That ain't no "doctored audio". He said what he said. She saidv what she said. And her actions show it. Period.
That was a big difference our forbearers made, as our constitution was modeled off the French one. Whereas France declared “Freedom FROM religion,” we chose “Freedom OF religion.” Important distinction. Meaning no one belief is above others and we have a separation between church and state. We can practice our own faith as we choose, and likewise our neighbors can too. It’s not a Christian nation though, despite people saying it is such. We have many different faiths and we gotta grow up and choose to live peacefully next to our neighbors.
The only solution to restoring integrity in the Supreme Court is to oust Alito and Lawrence Thomas.

You really think the whole world looks to your supreme court? How bizarre. Sheesh, even I as a foreigner, knows that there is an effective ethics code by which all other judges (apart from the SC) must adhere. Your country is pretty bonkers.
When it comes to those legal recordings, folks ought to take a good hard look at the evidence presented regarding the actions of the justice and his wife. Justices are well versed in the law and are fully aware that their words may very well reach the ears of others. Justice Roberts certainly had a handle on how to handle those tough questions, so maybe Alito could take a few notes and refrain from spilling his guts about his true intentions.
Actually, alito just doesn't belong on the supreme court. Bush senior had a wealth of competent judges he could have appointed, he never should have appointed this p.o.s.

Hi Michael. The proper way to remove the justice is through impeachment. Three equal branches of government. In the hands of Congress to carry out an impeachment query, which can also remove the provision of a lifetime appointment.
This is why the Founding Fathers wanted the separation of church and state.

You are correct and it's legal in D.C. just as it is in all of Canada.
You are correct: in a "one-party consent" jurisdiction, as long as at least one party to the conversation is made aware of the recording being made before the recording starts, you're OK. That's why when you get calls from businesses that operate nationwide the first thing you hear is _"this call may be recorded or monitored for ..."_

Judges are individuals allowed to have political opinions. Alito expressed his opinions in a private conversation, which is totally acceptable. What is not acceptable is judges expressing political in public. In 2016, justice RBG went on national tv and said “If Trump is elected I will move to Canada”. This was extremely unacceptable and surprise surprise the liberals did not condemn her.

freedom of religion is the problem as the conservative justices are enforcing their religious extremism, Alyssa pointed out that SCOTUS is supposed to respect all sides of our constitutional rights and the left tries to find the middle and the right power grabs. Alito flies flags, ACB spoke at a religious conservative group and laughed/bragged about killing Roe v Wade and Thomas is getting paid off by a far right billionaire.
