Being dismissive not however, I think if you have not struggled you may not have a clear message what the struggle is. The message was clear back in the day. Everyone knew exactly what was on the line or what was at stake. The Civil Rights movement or the fight for women's rights etc. I think that was what Whoopi was trying to point out. Today the complexities of today's world without having lived the same struggles b/c of the work that was put in by past generations yeah you have to wonder if young people truly understand what is at stake and I don't think that's being dismissive, but it is concerning. Sunny can only be certain of her two and as she has reminded us on numerous occasions that the brain continues to develop until the age of 25, we can only hope and pray for the best outcome.

Whoopi talks for 5 minutes saying how much privilege the young people have (who are suffering tremendously in this world economy and job market) and as soon as Sunny sticks up for them, oops! We have to go to a commercial. Young people don't have the time to go protest (unless they're in college) because they can barely afford to live right now.

To me, Whoopi comes from that old school of "the young people need to come & tug on our coats - so we can show them how to continue doing things the way we would have done it". Unfortunately, the younger generation is willing to play much more aggressive politics then the older generation agrees with. This is why older black dems in South Carolina put Joe on the presidential map because he was "safe". The 2 schools of thought will never converge into 1 unless they can agree that there is beneficial insight from both age demographics. If we go the pace of boomers we'll never see the potential of America. But if we have the all or nothing approach of Gen Z we could end up losing the entire Republic to the GOP cult who is tenaciously voting in every election. 🤷🏾♂️

Both sides are pandering to young people, and you can't be critical of them or ask them to take their time before reacting or making a decision. It's like both sides think "these people are in the way of what I want to do. Let's get rid of them and get younger, more impressionable people in there."

All young people are not asleep. Most of the prolific leaders in the US were young people! Most civil right activist started in their 20s. The children are our future and we need to give them more credit. Many young people are thoughtful, compassionate, and informed. Every older generation talks about young people as not knowing anything and that is simply not true. They are underestimated until they are not. This is the same conversation that was had about millennials. Every headline was about millennials don't get.......(fill in the blank). Thank you Sunny for not being shut down by the table in your plight to ensure the voice of the younger generations are being heard. We want young people to vote, but we want to tell them that they don't know anything!? If they need more information share it with them, but there are many young people who are aware and doing the research. They don't have to agree with you to be informed. They can be informed and still not agree.
A 20 year old then is different than a 20 year old now, not everyone back then was old. A lot of people from that era said they wanted to get into the fight sooner, but their parents told them to wait. Many young people might be thoughtful and informed, but I would not say most.

Politics stresses me out too. I hate it.
Learn more about a few issues that you care about and read about their policies, key people and things you can do help. Information can unburden stress when it is small amounts. It is too much right now, with something happening new everyday, so if you can find one or two things that are important to you, politics don't seem as daunting. Then ignore the rest.
It's more than abundantly clear that Sunny is the only person on this table that has the slightest interaction with any young people at all. All the others' comments were absolutely downright disgusting, ignorant, uninformed, dismissive, and a complete & utter mischaracterization of Gen-Z.

Not a fan of Sunny Hostin, but we should not be dismissive to the young people, especially in politics.
Remember that Michelle didn't want her husband to run for President, so this tracks. No one young or old, should be forced into politics, and the ones that don't, it doesn't mean that they're not engaged. Sunny needs to get out of her soapbox and realize that while there are young people like her children and their friends who are,, a lot of young people aren't.

As a teacher, I teach my students all the time about history and what WAS. Now I teach them what is and what MIGHT reappear if they don't get their voices heard. Most of them are much more informed then you think but its also difficult for most of them to get involved especially with parents that don't want them involved. The problem with that is they are naturally involved because they live in this country.

His name is Adam Mockler and he is go great, because he is smart and his energy is amazing. I think you should give him a platform. There is also a group of women , one of whom is Tara Setmayer and this group is called The Seneca Project. They are bringing women together from across the political spectrum to get them out to vote. Just a thought!

I'm an Aussie mum of a 23yo daughter, and I think anyone over the age of 50 is setting themselves up for a rude shock thinking the younger generations don't pay attention. They absolutely do! My kid was asked if she would ever want kids, and instead of saying "yes", "no" or "maybe", she rattled off a dozen reasons why the government and billionaires have made it financial suicide to become a parent. She's not wrong. These kids are never given an opportunity to have an intellectual conversation, because the elders have judged them without having tried to talk to them

I'm a Baby Boomer whose parents were part of the Greatest Generation. My late parents lived through the Great Depression and a World War in which my father served. They instilled in me and my older brother, that we needed to care about our children's future more than out own because they would inherit the world we gave them. I was also taught to value an education and what critical thinking can be found in a classical education, which I had. A major part of the problem is that we do not listen to the teachers and we allow politicians to have them teach to the test and nothing else. In a nutshell, we were taught to welcome the next generations into the public sphere and to elected office. We need to get out of their way for them to succeed.
