I served 20+ years in the Navy and I don't care what anyone says...CS is one of the hardest jobs in the Navy! Their hours and the constant cleaning! Not to mention feeding ALL of the Sailors! I NEVER gave them a hard time!

@@theofficialdaveharris8794 I don't know about now, but when a sailor first reported to a ship, E4 and below, - back in the 80's. they had to pull galley duty for like their first 3 months! Never again! My brother was a CS also. Yeah, people have no idea! Yes, it's different for CS's on shore, but it's different for ALL ratings on shore!

You are 100% right!!! Im a retired SKC and the hardest workers in the Navy were the CS or MS's when I was active. Their work went unappreciated most of the time and poor guys got the end of the broomstick from the crew even when the meals were decent. Up earlier than most of the crew unless you were on watch and the last to the racks every day including Sundays when out to Sea.

The Official Dave Harris, I wasn't a cook/CS. It's definitely more work than you guys get credit for. Reminds me of the old saying, an army marches on its stomach. The whole thing keeps going because you guys make the food. It's a lot of logistics. Supply is underrated in all branches I think, it's important for a campaign and morale in general. I found your videos because you reviewed my favorite mre, chili Mac. Lol. Was really interesting to see around the ship in your other video.

You won't be disadvantaged at all because you're going to be sent to a training school where they'll teach you everything you need to know. In my case, I started as a different rate and transferred into CS- they didn't send me through the school, just trained me in the kitchen, and I did just fine. You'll pick it up fast, don't worry!

Keya McMichael It does get better as you go up in rank, so I would tell her to pick up rank fast. There are many opportunities for CS’s, so it’s not all cooking in the galley. As a cook it’s easy for us to rank up so that’s a good thing. It’s really just what you make it so tell her to go in with an open mindset and she will realize it’s really not that bad once you understand how thing operate.

    • @theofficialdaveharris8794

The Official Dave Harris see i figures something was off.. my contract is for March 2020 and i enlisted a month ago... i can either retake my asvab and risk not getting a high score again or just stick with what i have to try and change my rate.. i asked around people in the military already and some tell me to just cancel the contract and take it while others say stick to it since my foot is already in the door.. it’s confusing
