1981 was my first time in Vegas! I was 22. Had a blast! Fortunately I live in Southern California, so its only a 3 and a half hour drive. I have gone 2 to 3 times every year since. Vegas has changed alot, though alot of the same places are still there of course. I have changed to, im 61 now!!! But still feel about 30 when I'm there!! Lol. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
1981 was the first year I was in Vegas. Stayed at the Frontier, still have the ashtray a book of matches and a deck of cards from there. In matter of fact, you could of bought used decks of cards that were used in the casino for 10 cents a pack too.
I stayed at the Frontier many times. A great place. So old and dated and did I say old? No other casino there had the vibe like the Frontier. Still have the punched holes players card.
@@jeffreymcfadden9403 ......yes, it was a fine place. 1 question, you have punched holes in the cards ? The ones I have, just the corners are shaved on all the cards. But hay, who cares for the price of them I should of picked up a dozen decks compaired to the prices of playing cards today.
Thank you folks for visiting and recording old Las Vegas as it used to be back in your day. Still fun and lovely today even though they have added more stuff here on the Strip and Downtown. Thank you for the lovely movies as seen through your own eyes....
The first thing I noticed was how happy people would get when they saw a camera pointed at them. The next thing I noticed was that every old person could move fast and dance around and weren't using canes or walkers and didn't look physically decrepit. You hardly see that today in 2024. All the old people are sick and move slow.
First time I went I was 21 in 1978..Loved the place to death. I know it sounds critical but people at that time knew how to dress like adults.. But now, it's like a kindergarten class with people dressed like 5 year old kids...
The Maxim was garbage when I moved behind there in the mid 90s, inexpensive apartment,the service at the restaurant was horrible,lots of drugs at Albert!

I was there in late May 1981. Merv Griffin was taping his show from the Riviera Hotel that week. I went to one of the taping's.
