I am back again watching you and listening to this perfect performance. I just can't begin to describe how much I appreciate you Mr. Reed. Your legacy is legendary.
Don’t know how I missed this piece of Gold ,but glad I found it, Mike. We sure are missing you. Thoughts and Prayers ,🙏 my friend. We all Love you. You’re one “ Cool Cat “Love as Always , Chris. ♥️🎶🥀🎶♥️🥰🤗🌴😎🌴🎼🎹☮️
@Matt Kline Lolololol i was thinking that he rolls in like he means business right from the start! This guy loves to play! That is the coolest thing to ass!😎
Listening your superb hammond and the way you play it, i can't explain why there is no more hammond organ music available, i love the jazz and classical music and i think that is a basic instrument. I really enjoyed to listen your perfomance with this beautiful Neal Hefti's great Girl Talk.
And the transitions that he migrates through stylistically demonstrates the versatility and power of the Hammond... as well as his own virtuosity. He certainly knows what Stops he wants for ea h of the "flavors" he gives us.
Beautiful, flawless performance, Mike! I've loved "Girl Talk" since I first heard it in 1965. I'm a chromatic harmonica player and am learning so much from your treatment of songs. Do you have advice for those of us trying to learn jazz improvisation? Yours on every song you do is magnificent!
Mike, at 3:20 through about 3:30, what did you do? Furthermore, HOW did you do that? I LOVE this song, Neal Hefti and Bobby Troup. Hey, I've got a Korg PA800 (would love to upgrade to the PA4X, or even the new PA1000), and this has digital drawbars. Basically, I have one set of drawbars I can control in real time (albeit trying to do them on a touch screen just isn't the same as grabbing a handful of drawbars!), and I really would like to know some of your favorite, and most used drawbar settings, if you don't mind sharing them. TIA!
GARY: that is what we call chopping.....rhythmic stuttering up the keys, with hands in block-chord positions, which all the old great organists used to do..... hard to explain, though. Just listen and try......I think you'll get it. Thanks!
Mike is a musician for the ages....his beautiful music is timeless! RIP ❤
How could anyone not be moved when hearing this incredible tune. I recall Count Basie during an interview referring to it as "foot tapping" music
I miss you Mike so much and the sophistication, class and culture you brought to our world through your amazing talent and music.
The guy plays the bass with his foot.. MY gosh unbelievable!
Hundreds of thousands of organ players do that.
Every time I hear Mike play this song; I enjoy it all over again. I miss you Mike. You are the greatest!!
I think, heaven became a whole lot cooler since Mike arrived!

As Mike proved in his performance, LESS is MORE !!
"Less" is not an adjective that is anywhere near appropriate when describing any B3 performance.
Mike.....you're a baaaad man.....A total beast on the keys!!!!
Great interpretation of a great Hefti song. Thanks to Mike and to Mr Leslie.
Absolutely amazing..i have heard many renditions of this song..this is amazing.

If you would have started organ lessons when you posted this, you would have been a master by now.
Rich style and beautiful sound Mike. Love the vibrato. Long live Mike and his B3.
Oh my effin god. That was awesome!!!!!!! Thank you sir
blasphemer.
Yes....!
Pretty darn good!! Now, let's hear, SAX FIFTH AVENUE -- Johnny Beecher (1962) !!!!!
You are a stellar player! Chills run up and down my spine!
Yes... Play it Boy...!
There is nothing better than block chords and a walking bass on a Hammond!
And the transitions that he migrates through stylistically demonstrates the versatility and power of the Hammond... as well as his own virtuosity. He certainly knows what Stops he wants for ea h of the "flavors" he gives us.

Interesting to hear this treatment and Oscar Peterson's, both master's at their chosen instrument and both masterpieces.
