Psvr2 is my first and only vr system. I plan on getting a meta quest 3 next. But because i never had a psvr1, i missed out on astro bot rescue mission 😭😭😭 i wish they would port it to psvr2 because i refuse to play a sequel before the original:/
@bxile730 Astrobot was the third VR game that I played and it was the one that cemented my love of VR. Amazing game and truly surprising that Sony didn't have Astrobot 2 lined up as a launch pack in
@@VRGRID We stood around Kynan's desk yesterday to see his progress. We're pretty impressed and he's only just started. Upgraded Shaders, realtime shadows, post processing. Looking pretty tight.
Ha ha... Of course you can support us on Patreon but, ironically enough, the plan was to setup YT subs this weekend so stay tuned for that option and an announcement about it!
OH, I thought Max was a little girl. Not that it matters. Definitely going to grab this on PSVR2 when it comes out while we wait "patiently' for AstroBot. Thanks for the great review as always. 🤘
I'm holding out for the PSVR2 version, that is, if the core graphics and frame rate are better than Q3's. But there's still no solid release date, just 'coming soon' I'm losing patience here! I need something to scratch that astro bot void. :P

Don't get me wrong this looks good, bit the only reason u would play this is because I want to see more 3d platformers in vr. Unlike astro, I would never play something like this on a standard screen.
Although interestingly the file on Quest is still named Matilda which the devs recently mentioned was a potential name for the game while still in development
The controls are much tighter not so sloppy like crash. This has the finesse and feel of a Mario game with the hover mechanic of Mario Sunshine which I also loved and played when it first came out
I'm not sure if I've ever seen a game so shamelessly plagerising another than this. It reminds me of when they redesigned Magic Hat Turbo Adventure into Decap Attack on the Megadrive for the western markets. That said, I've enjoyed seeing this develop through to launch and its great seeing it finally arrive.
Hi DaftCat, thanks for following the journey and celebrating the launch with us. It breaks our hearts a little bit regarding plagiarism and genuinely concerned about it. Which game do you feel it is plagiarising? Max Mustard has gameplay similarities with many platformers and also unique innovations that we are proud of.
Could be, I dunno....hold on...quick internet check reveals that....I can't find an answer which I think maybe intentional. I can't find any reference to Max's gender
The idea of 3rd person 3d platformers games is just absurd imo. Looking around makes it so you can't even see your char/avatar so you're looking in on the action for the most part anyway. I dunno maybe I am being hypercritical but it just seems weird to me. I could see if it was 1st person, but I just can't get into this. If I wanted to play 3rd person games I'd put away my headset and play normal games. 😀
Have you played Astro Bot on PSVR? It will likely change your mind about this, as the game happens around you, with you interacting with the world itself as well.
The three dimensional feel of depth is way better than on flat screen. I've been playing games since the original Mario trilogy on NES, played every mainline Mario game up to and including Odyssey and trust me it's a great modern feel to have the immersion and depth perception that VR provides
This is awesome, thanks so much for the review of Max Mustard! 👏We hope it helps more players explore platforming in VR.
Excellent review. Looking forward to playing this.
I am excited for this to come to PSVR2 but now I just really want Astrobot 2
I'm hoping they can add a bit of visual flare that the Quest version is lacking. It looks great regardless. (Ryan)

I did too
Max seems pretty chill, and probably won't be offended by being mis-gendered, however he/she/they actually self identifies
We hope you're looking forward to the PSVR2 version! Progress is coming along nicely and we hope to have it ready for PlayStation players soon.
@@ToastInteractive really looking forward to it. If you need any testers I would love to help out.
Thanks for the review....still hoping for some astrobot 2 news....
the new Astro is only going to be on PS5 unfortunately, no VR

Nice video,subscribed 😃
Between Max, Ven and Lucky. Which one would you recommend for a kid new to VR. As in, easy to understand, play, follow the story
Lucky's Tale is easily the easiest, but i found it to be a little boring. Max is the best of those 3 imo
Yeah, Lucky, then Ven then Max to top it off. You'll need real platformer skills to beat the later levels in Max
Just picked this up at the amazing price of £2.30, looking forward to playing it at weekend. 😊

That's fine for you but it's definitely a great platformer regardless of flat screen or not

Crash Bandicoot?
Definitely some influences

I'm kinda sick of these vr platformers not having a controllable camera
Given that you actually have a presence in this game... Having a moveable camera would mess up more than a few moments in the game
It does have a movable camera Upgrade for just 10 coins at the first shop
I feel like controllable camera would cause severe motion sickness in vr 3d platformers

@@RyanO_VRThe character looks more like a girl than a boy with that ponytail.
Sure, but nowhere does it say boy or girl so I think the devs intentionally left it up to the player
Max is a female. When testing multiple characters, the gameplay felt better with long hair. The owner of the IP has two girls too. So it stuck!
