This is similar to a concert watching the two greatest riders ever. And for free outside. Most people will not only never acquire this level of flatland, let alone understand the difficulty and commitment to get to this level.
Its crazy to think how popular flatland BMX was..I ride flatland next to a skatepark for 10 years and ride the skatepark and I cant get any BMX kid or streater to do flatland...Thanks for uploading at was at this comp just chilling so its cool to see from another video..
Anyone know what happened to Chase? I think I donated to some kind of health fund a while back and then I never heard anything else. I hope he’s doing good. There weren’t too many that came from the East Coast. He was one of them. Kevin Jones was one of them and I know Dennis McCoy wasn’t technically the East Coast but he wasn’t California. I miss those days I miss going to the store buying a new freestyle magazine, American freestyle or BMX plus even BMX action even though I never raced. I still enjoyed reading about the racing part of BMX. All I could say is I’m happy that I lived through that era. My favorite year for Freestyle happens to be 1987 my favorite bike to Haro from that year. Even the racing bikes from that year were crazy. I was only 14 years old.
Chase is still around, I'm good friends with him, talked to him this morning. Yeah he had a lung infection caused by mold at where he was living, and the donations literally saved his life, so he is super thankful for everybody that donated. So thank you. Long story short, He hadn't been riding for many years until the last 2 years or so when I restored Kevin's prototype big daddy (which kevin is riding and chase is in a few clips in this very video) and chase contacted me and over time I've helped get him back riding again, so he's doing well. Yeah chase wasn't really "east coast" either as he's from Canada, just that he happened to go to York with the hoods. But yeah back then in the 80s, the mags mostly focused on the Cali guys because that's where all the mags were at the time. That eventually changed with Dennis, hoffman, Kevin and the hoods like chase, dave mirra, Jay miron etc..
@@adamdawson1 thanks for responding and it’s great to know Chase is doing good. What’s crazy is I just turned 50 in August I have a 2017 Haro that looks like a 1987. I just don’t like I should not don’t I have anyone to ride with my bad and my Crohn’s disease makes it hard for me to ride, it’s crazy as I live right behind mall outdoor mall and I have plenty of place to ride flatland unlike when I was growing up, I had no place to ride. I may try to ride a little bit more. I wish I had someone to ride with give me some motivation. Hopefully you post more stuff up. All of it is interesting.
