Just reading the descriptions of some of these items is making me hot and itchy. No wonder Vader was always so angry, I'd be mad too if I had to wear all that heat.
It definitely gets hot but there are many “tricks of the trade” to stay cool. I live in HELL…..oops, I mean Arizona, and it gets very hot. Under Armour wicking undersuit was honestly the best upgrade I made to help stay cooler.
This is dope man. I don’t think anyone here realizes that Star Wars cosplay is gonna be expensive no matter what, and when it comes to the ones that actually look good you’re talking well over $2,000 for anything you buy put together. Anyway, I’m really impressed by what you put together and I was wondering if you could give advice on modifying pieces. I’ve never done a cosplay with actual plastic armor pieces, and I don’t know how to modify them.
Appreciate it! Each piece is different in how they’re modified. For example, my shoulder armor has pads underneath to add some support and height. There’s also padding in the helmet for extra cushion and to help it sit right on my head. The other parts are just trimmed to size, hemmed, etc.
Ha! Yes and no. You do buy all the parts, but some need to be custom painted, resized, padded, cut, etc. so it fits you. Buy the parts, put it together. Just like a super expensive puzzle of sorts.
I have a killer looking suit with armour but had a hard time finding a good looking Vader helmet. I ended up buying a Hasbro black series (2018) Darth Vader helmet and it looks great! Even has the breathing sound built in. What I love about the helmet is it comes off in 4 pieces which looks cool when taking it off. Also makes a sound when taking off the mask
@Alex Xvost unfortunately you would have to come to where I live in Ohio to get measured for the suit to fit you. Also, they cost around $2,000 starting off and can go way up from there
I got the helmet and saber from black series. I got a one piece, a cape, belt, shoulder thing, and the chest plate all in one set on ebay for 30. I do need better boots and to get some shin guards. So this video was helpful.
Great video, so glad to see a Vader build video with transparency on where and how much each piece cost. I just started building mine and have my hard parts coming from Portumac and soft goods from Custom props / Fenix props. Very excited to get them.
I might just steal the original Empire suit as I'm the same height and weight as David. Joking though( not about dimensions) but I'll have to buy and make I think.
This video is very helpful. I’m trying to make a life-size Vader mannequin. This will help me a lot to find these pieces. I want the very best I can get if anyone else has any suggestions please forward me any information you might have. Great video you look amazing in the costume.
I wouldn't recommend korbanth shoulder armor. I have one but I had to heavily modify it do it would fit. You'd have to be the hulk in order for the back to stop stick out , very visible under cape
That helmet is absolutely beautiful. I'm looking into getting a darth vader suit and found that 90% of it can be bought outright for about $1300, but everywhere i look at the set they leave it up to you to find boots. Gonna need to start saving haha
If is a gorgeous piece. You’ll probably have to look a bit harder to find an EFX for a good price, but if you can pick one up I can’t recommend it enough! The Soviet style boots are probably the easiest to get wrong, but you can’t find boots so similar for a good price. They may just need some DIY work to make them look just right.
Looks good. People should also look up Fenix Props and Manny aka Porty aka Portumac. Not a dig, but you can see on the shoulder armor right below the neck where a cape clip was removed and painted over.
excellent video brotha! I also use portumac prop studios for my pieces so thats really cool. hes done my shin guards, chest and belt boxes and now currently working on my chest armor. going with the new kenobi show version :)
Thank you!! I appreciate you subbing! I really need to start making content again. I stepped away because I thought people weren’t that interested. Maybe I can start making some new videos!
I can tell you from personal experience that ROTS is THE most difficult to put on by yourself. I don’t know if I was lucky or some mystical force was on my side but I have mastered the “getting dressed solo” :)
@@DesertVader I’ve seen the ROTS costume worn by some Vader’s in my garrison... and the helmet under the armor seems like it would be impossible to do solo!
@@VadersReviews you are absolutely correct. My first few times suiting up were a nightmare but I learned the tricks. For ROTS it was mask, then chest, then cape, then dome....all solo. The only real pain is the cape. Once the mask and chest are on, it’s very hard to attach the cape and then line it up on the velcro tabs but trial and error made it possible :)
I was looking at the list of things to buy, and I was wondering if the inner robs and codpiece came with the other things or was forgot to be listed. (Side not: I found the exact helment for 160 dollars, feel so lucky :) )
Look at the Rubie Darth Vader costume... around $1,200 but looks amazing for an initial costume. I just ordered it and also ordered a Proffie Neopixel Vader Saber! Can't wait
Yeah it is possible if you do a lot of diy. Im currently making an darth vader esb as a college student and I saved a lot of money doing a lot of diy work. I wouldnt recommend a 3d printed chest tho since the cape is heavy and it weighs down on the weak pla a ton. Despite that, it will still end up costing u in the thousands.
It seems way to hard to get the final product. Buying different parts, making sure they’re correct, trying to get them to fit you, etc. also expensive lol.
I see 3 things and it already costs the equivalent of a full suit so sorry but I’d rather buy a normal suit than spend the equivalent of a whole one for 3 things
Is the title incorrect? I sat and pondered this question in complete silence for several days. I began to question my very existence. Thoughts of my family floating over thoughts of alternate reality's. Are we witness to pure genius, are we watching magic being born? No, how to make a Darth Vader costume step one, spend thousands of dollars and have other people make it for you. Step two, refer to step one and show the entire Internet that you are a complete idiot.
Interesting take here, Bosco Stick. Let me ask you something. Suppose you are cooking dinner for your family. The catch? You bought every ingredient at the store where someone else grew the vegetables, butchered the cow, and ground your spices. Upon completion of cooking, did you make dinner? Yes, you did-because even though you sourced the ingredients elsewhere, the finished product is entirely unique to you. Same concept here. Yes, each component was crafted by a vendor far more skilled in their trade than myself. However, upon receiving each part, the wearer needs to assemble, trim, and adjust the parts to fit them... hence making the suit yourself. I suggest taking some more time pondering in silence before you go on another incompetent sarcastic rant.
Its not like he just went to spirit and bought it in a little pack😂😂 you have to get all kinds of shit separate then put it together to see if it looks good so thats building your costume up to perfection which is still considered building😂😂
Just reading the descriptions of some of these items is making me hot and itchy. No wonder Vader was always so angry, I'd be mad too if I had to wear all that heat.
I can tell you from experience that if you could wear sand, this would be the equivalent. And I HATE sand.
Anakin Skywalker. I was expecting someone with your reputation to be a little… olderrrrrrrrr

in honor of James Earl Jones passing im thinking about making my own vader costume lightsaber included
I would go for the black series Vader helmet as it's cheaper
It's not screen accurate.
where can I find kelly jo Boyd?

How to make your very own Darth Vader Costume:
Step 1: Be a millionaire
Vader wore walker boots.
Boy you know I gotta be spending that totally real $1000 I have lying around.
Movie grade..Remembo, star wars is junkyard sci fi, not high tech clean NCC1701D Piccard clean and pressed.😂😂
That is very expansive, you can buy it whole for 999,00 dollars
Do you have a link to the bodysuit? I want to make sure I'm purchasing from the correct seller.

but the most important thing!
money.

Man I've been doing alot of research but I just can't get it down as cheap as yours.
Is it possible to do it for lower price, if u do chest, legs armor and boxes on 3d print?

who’s here because they can’t think of anything to be for Halloween and want to be Vader 💀
I wonder if cosplayers have come up with a way to stay cool underneath all that. I can see myself overheating in something like this
I want to make mine as heavy, itchy, and uncomfortable as the real deal.
From what i see here, it would cost me less money to get an official costume 😂
May I ask how y’all are you?
6’2” out of costume
Why is the shoes more expensive than an actual darth Vader costume
This is both costume advice and life advice: never cheap out on a good pair of shoes.
Just saw all the prices
Guess who’s not gonna be darth Vader this year
How to purchase the most expensive darth Vader suit possible.
Wow, $300 for a plastic chest box?. And $300 for a polyester cape?!?!!
Step 1: Rip my suit off and take it, much much easier
What do you use to keep cool under the suit?
Aircon
Fans in the helmet and a cool pack underneath the suit.
More like "BUY your own real darth vader costume".
you said make and only thing you did is some VERY EXPENSIVE SHOPING
It seems way to hard to get the final product. Buying different parts, making sure they’re correct, trying to get them to fit you, etc. also expensive lol.
It’s difficult, but rewarding... and expensive, but still rewarding. Lol
Kind of misleading when you say make your own when you bought every thing online
I see 3 things and it already costs the equivalent of a full suit so sorry but I’d rather buy a normal suit than spend the equivalent of a whole one for 3 things
It’s definitely costly. You can buy the rubies suit for cheap, but it’s not very accurate and is quite uncomfortable.
So you didn’t really make anything you just bought everything so making is used very loosely lol
anyone able to it for $1000 or less?
If you’re on a budget and don’t care about screen accuracy, try to pick up a rubies supreme edition suit. It’s got all of the parts, just not accurate
George Lucas is going to sue you.
$2,500 !!!!!!!!!
Bruh I thought this was how to make not how to buy 😐
Make? Nah just spend a ridiculous amount of money, duhhh
So, you actually MADE none of it.
Maybe change the title to "Assemble your own..."?
