Nancy, Lia’s show yesterday was absolutely awesome - she had me chuckling at her little sighs and things - I could hear my nieces when they were her age - too cute - OMG - precious beyond words - she is turning out to be quite a crafter
Very well done. I can’t get my new toner copier to set up, want to foil so many things. Wish my son was around from Cali. Tfs. Happy Mother’s Day to the best mom I know.
Very pretty on black cardstock. I have Crafters Companion 300gsm I will try it out to see how it fairs. It's pretty thick as well. Thanks for the recommendations 💖💖💖
Amazing video! I'm curious if it will work on Black shimmer card stock. I generally have bad results on shimmer cardstock, even with the light color ones, and black shimmer cardstock just simply dont work for me, not sure if it is the brand I am using.
@nancy, I used the American Craft black cardstock to foil and it was a total mess. I don't think the foil was a reactive foil, but the entire cardstock was foiled and not just the print I printed.
Hi! Do you need to apply the foil immediately after printing, or can you print today, and say, foil a few hours after? I realized that our printer at home is an inkjet, and without a budget for a laser printer, I wanted to outsource the printing which needs a few hours travel time.
You can foil whenever. The toner doesn't expire. You can go to a copy shop and get images laser printed. Just make sure they use super smooth paper. White is always better than colored. You can find black & white laser printers for around $120 with back to school sales right now.
I hope I'm asking this question right and it may sound dumb, but when you print on the card stock is that just ink and the foil will stick to it? I guess I'm trying to ask how does the foil stick to the card stock before using the laminator? I asked because I bought the laminator that's in your video plus the cover but this is my first time doing this. Also, is there a way to not foil everything that's printed? Kindly advise. 😁😁😁
It has to be printed with a laser printer. The toner melts and the foil sticks to it. Anything printed with toner will stick to the foil regardless of color. I hope that helps.
Glossy sticker paper is hard to foil on. There is a company on Facebook that sells it and it looks great. Search Bluebonnetfoil-rgv on Facebook and message her about the new glossy sticker paper. She also has beautiful toner foils. Make sure you print with a laser printer.
@@NancyStamps I'm foiling on black cardstock because there is no black labels so I'm trying to make my own. I printed and foiled on black cardstock. I was wondering if there was a way to add a glossy look as well as providing a barrier so that if the cardstock got wet it would tear.
@@NancyStamps thank you do I just need one printer that does everything or do you think I would need 2 printers I'm not sure but I really want to do this art so I can make things and put it around my house. Xx
@@ConsiderIslam for this, it is best to purchase a monochrome (black) ink laser printer. They are pretty inexpensive. Also, make sure the printer has rear feed because heavy cardstock cannot cycle through the rollers of many laser printers.
how much would you recommend the brother laser printer you use? I think a problem most of us are having is finding a reliable laser printer for 300gsm that’s not crazy expensive 😩
Yes printers are hard to find at a reasonable price now because of Covid. I can manually feed thick paper in the front of the machine and it comes out the back. So I do recommend this one. I don't recommend paying more than $150 for it.
Hello Nancy! I wanted to inquire as to how well your printer works for cardstock. I currently have a laser jet printer, but I am having trouble getting it to print on cardstock 65lb and 80lbs. Thanks!
I have secured the foil on top of the printed designs with tape and ran it through the printer again to adhere the foil with good success. Delete the design (temporarily) or print an empty file so that the printer is not trying to print on top of the foil. It will depend on the printer and the thickness of your cardstock, if you have enough clearance. I was nervous doing this at first. So use your judgment if this is something you want to try. But it has worked well for me.

I just got a gopress and foil machine for Mother's day :D I am looking forward to playing with it and seeing what creativity it brings out in me :)
How did I miss this. Thank you for this comparison
This is an older video. I have a newer one. But Hamilco is easiest to get in US
@@NancyStamps Thanks, I am so appreciative of your site. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Nancy. Its pretty on the dark cardstock 😍

Pearlescent cardstock works nice in most cases. As long as it is super smooth and not too thick.

Hi Nancy!
I am struggling so much with my foil laminator to do a logo foil design…can you help at all with this?

Great video thank you so much for thie. Is there any way or anything you need to apply to keep the foil on? Can it peel off over time?
It stays but can be scratched. If you make something like a card it's fine. For anything larger, maybe a plastic sleeve or frame?

Can you use normal laminator? And not the one you are using?
You can try it but most laminator don't get hot enough, let it heat up for at least 30 mins. This machine is made specifically for foiling.
May I ask what laser printer you are using for the thick cardstock? Thank you.
It's in description Brother mono laser
If you wanted to turn these into stickers with a glossy look which cardstock would you use and how would you get it to stick?

I need a wireless printer because I will also be printing labels! Which printer (with WiFi) should I purchase ?
There is a brother wireless one or Canon 600dpi minimum black and white mono printer.

65lb Recollections is best
@@NancyStamps in the video you have the same one i have
For my cards the 65lb it's too thin 🥲

Hello can i print using inkjet printer in a regular paper then foil transfer it?
No, must be laser
Here for a foil fix

I can do 100lb on mine.
Sometimes you have to feed the printer manually
does it work with Pigment-based ink?
No, has to be laser printed.
@@NancyStamps Thanks!
Which specific printer did you use for this experiment?
Brother mono laser
Hi Nancy can I do this with out the laminator
No Courtney you need a good laminator or a minc machine otherwise the foil won't stick to the toner.

No, it has to be toner ink from a laser printer for the foil to stick
@@NancyStamps I see. I didnt know that. Thankyou so much. ❤️
