The only part of the video I don't agree with is "Fernando Alonso is not going to be in Formula 1 forever."
True
yea, hes still a rookie
He will keep on leaving and joining to be a rookie forever
This guy has been on every team on crisis and once he arrived things moved forward,he is not the fastest but he is so much underrated that it is mind boggling
For me the most underrated in a long time. This year will be the year where he drops his usual teamplayer nature and will drive for himselkf. and this, i believe, will show the world the true weakness of leclerc. i think Charles will crumble under the pressure sainz will put him under. especially since Charles will oputqualify sainz most of the time but still finish behind him in races...it will be uite telling. IMO leclerc is a one lap pony. Like vettel he needs the absolute best car to win a championship
@@pedrozapata7008i do believe it will be a close battle between sainz and leclerc, but i do think who comes out on top ultimately comes down to who the car suits best. It is clear they prefer vastly different cars, as seen last year, where the car suited Sainz much more right after the summer break, but then towards the end of the season, as the car suited Leclerc much more, he began performing better, and sainz fell off a bit pace-wise.
@@Trylsekongen I totally agree with you. I did not consider the fact that Ferrari will 100% build the car around Leclerc now. But TBF that's what they were already doing anyways and Carlos has shown that he is quite flexible and his driving style is, to an extent, very adaptable to different styles of driving platform. Still I think he will display a grit and tenacity that we haven't seen in him before and many of us formula 1 fans doubted he had in him, maybe even himself. But he's as confident as he has ever been, he's got his bigges point to prove yet and at the same time really doesn't have as much to loose reputation wise as his teammate. It's gonna be a fun year at Ferrari.
@@pedrozapata7008 or a nerve wracking one, depending on if you are a Ferrari fan or not 😬😬
And he undoubtedly lifts the morale of every team he's at
Carlos Sainz remembers me a lot to Nico Rosberg. Even though both aren’t the fastest drivers of their generation, they are very solid and hard workers. I’m sure that sooner or later Sainz will find out a project that can bring him the opportunity to evolve as a driver at the same time that he’s the leader the team.
His move to Ferrari itself was a wrong choice imo cos he never got an equal deal as Leclerc. I had commented back then that this would be turn out to be a bad decision cos Ferrari would never treat him equal to Leclerc and once he leaves Ferrari, finding another drive in a competitive team will be difficult.
His only chance at the time is to get that vacant merc seat. RB is not happening. McLaren has a good team now. Only remaining seat would be AM if Alonso retires.
@@Whatreally123he could join AM in the case Stroll gets sacked but that won't happen anytime soon
@@kaiserberserk3622The only person who decides whether Lance has a drive is Lance himself
Nah, Sainz simply doesn‘t have the raw speed and talent to ever compete for a world championship. Comparing Sainz to Rosberg is quite disrespectful imo.
Rosberg was way more talented and consistent than Sainz ever will be.
Sainz is like Perez. He can consistently beat the midfield but he will never be able to keep up with a genius.
Seeing what happened with Honda when they decided to join f1 back in 2015 I wouldn't be suprised if the Audi project flops espescially during first years of competition. Hope vw keeps up with the funding. Joining Audi is a big risk for Carlos.
That’s such a good point with Honda. Even if you compare it to when Mercedes joined in 2010, they realized the magnitude of the project so much so, that they had to go back to the Mercedes Board of Directors to ask for more funding and backing for the project. Audi is on shaky ground as it is with just joining F1, so its an unknown if they would ever provide that extra boost of funding after the fact
Keep in mind Honda was brought in early by McLaren against their wishes, they were set up to fail initially in hindsight.
And people think Andretti is going to make it 😂😂😂
@@bzilla-d4iYeah yeah let's not give any new team a chance and let's keep the same 10 teams for an eternity I guess 🙄
If Alpine (Renault) a literal constructor is failing after years of experience and having championships under their belt I can’t see how Audi can do any worse? Especially when partnered up with Sauber. I’m sure they have already poached a lot of engineers and aerodynamicist from the top teams.
Carlos is like Alonso in the sense that fans will get much better races if he's in a fast car. I hope his career isn't wasted by this move, he deserves to be in a top team. I'd love to see him alongside Nando.
They already did that.
You're acting like he's an exciting driver
Huh? He's literally spent 2 years in a fast car and other than Singapore, name one exciting race of his.
@@mrgalaxy396 Monza 2023 if you want just one
@@Czeslaw_cn4tv and that was Leclerc attacking him, because Leclerc is the one with the exciting style so, try again, Sainz is as dull as anything in personality and driving style and ability
Sainz can’t rely on Audi. He needs to pounce on the Perez seat or the vacant Merc seat now.
Pounce Perez and Danny
Yeah but wouldn’t it be cool to see him head a new coming team with so much potential for domination? Audi has the entire VW group R&D team behind, long story short, that means they have the Porsche engineers that get promotions to now go work for F1, that’s scary on its own. Imagine a young promising pilot like Sainz heading an F1 time like Audi after 2-4 years of them adjusting to the F1 world, he’d be almost like the second coming of verstappen with his Red Bull car
@luisaguilar7997 Sainz is older than you probably think, he can't be banking on "well maybe Audi is gonna be good so I'll go there" there are no signs or evidence that that will be the case. He needs a top team now.
@@danonthestrings I mean there is the fact that he can’t just idly wait a year, he’s in the prime of his age as a driver that’s true, but it would be wonderful to see him jump to Audi, they dominate everywhere they go, and VW group is like Midas at this point tbh
@@danonthestrings yeah but does sainz want to be second driver on top team ? this season he showed he is not second driver he want to become main driver
joining redbull and mercedes mean he will become their second driver not main driver.
If Ferrari starts challenging Max before the middle of the season I can 100% see Sainz to Redbull.
Sainz has already shown that he can handle being beaten and pick himself back up quickly and get better.
People can say “he’s not the fastest driver” all they want, but he regularly outscores Leclerc on merit.
Carlos is so unfortunately underrated, he's consistent, talented, and I was so excited to see him go to Ferrari. He's perfect for Ferrari and I'm sad to see him go. Hopefully the guy finally gets the seat he deserves.
With the amount of people calling him underrated, i don't think he's underrated anymore
i think sainz should go aston if alonso goes merc cuz i mean aston martin have been collecting the right people, they just need the right direction now
Mercedes hiring Alonso will be exactly as bad a decision as Ferrari hiring Lewis. Very short term plan with minimal returns.
@Whatreally123 Lewis provides unique marketing opportunities. Ferrari will make their money back.
@@EMichaelBall Ferrari makes money anyway. And if current Ferrari management is worried about making money in the short term as you say instead of focusing on building a consistent team to try and win championships, then it's just pathetic. They haven't won since 2008 and since then have never had a long term consistent team. They came close in 2017/18 and imo could've gone on to do well but they sacked Arrivabene. Ferrari since 2098 have become a team of spoilt brats who want everything to come to them quickly and if that doesn't happen in a few years, they'll either change the drivers or Team Principals or engineers.
People been saying that about AM for like 4 years now and there's nothing to show for it. I'm fact based on the small sample size of one race they've gone backwards from last season
@@gameofender4463 Yeah, people are seriously overrating it. Nothing to do with Fernando's ability but theres no chance he's getting a longer term deal when Kimi is still in contention.
Everyone seems to think Audi will be at the top when they join because they’re a manufacturer and they’re Audi. But look at Alpine they’re a manufacturer and is loosing to HAAS! Ferrari hasn’t won a championship since 2008! McLaren hasn’t won a championship since 2008! And Mercedes now know how the rest of us felt when they were dominating. This just shows that the name can only do so much. So to think Audi will be a top team is EXTREAMLY optimistic.
My feel is it's gonna be Toyota 2.0
Dont forget that Mercedes also were new at some point and werent great from the start
That's because Renault is cheap and they don't want to put the balls on the table. They say they are, but their actions speak for themselves.
Audi wins EVERYWHERE where it entered as works team! WRC, TransAm, IMSA GTO, mutiple DTM championships, 8 national super touring car championships in just one Season, 13 Le Mans wins in just 17 starts, serveral other 24 hour race wins, multiple GT3 championships and recently the Rally Dakar. So don't compare them with Alpine or Toyota! Compare them with Mercedes after they took over Brawn GP or Red Bull after they took over Jaguar.
Yeah Renault is a bad example. Audi won’t be winning championships but they will likely be in the mid field.
All I’m saying is, Audi every time they’ve joined a racing series dominated out the gate. At one point they were so good they got banned.
@@johnnycab8986they can’t work on the new areo, but all manufacturers are currently working on the new power units.
Audi have an amazing record in other series yes, but I'm looking at who's currently running the team at Sauber and they don't exactly instill me with much confidence...
Would love to see Sainz go for the title, especially if it's up against a superstar teammate so that the WDC feels even more special.
Couldn't agree more with your thoughts and conclusions. Carlos' fan here.
I said this when he signed for Ferrari that he risked his career by joining Ferrari. He got a contract which was less tenure than Leclerc's existing contract at the time which meant he would never be treated equally. Ferrari screwed Seb, a 4 time champ so Carlos stood no chance. That was a shit deal and he should've continued at McLaren.
How did Ferrari screw Vettel? Other than being the reason they hired him, what did his four WDCs mean to them? They gave him some good cars, he couldn't get it done and then lost motivation, same as he had in 2014. They had their run and chances together.
Carlos needs to go to Red Bull or Mercedes. It would be karma if he went to Mercedes in 2025 and immediately won a title.
Mercedes won’t be competing for a title next year
It would be AWESOME!
Karma at it best.
Yet even Toto is looking further into 2026 (if he’s still around).
Carlos Sainz should go to Mercedes its a no brainer

You talk about the length of time a new team can win a championship in without mentioning Brawn GP. In fact Honda were in shambles and in just one year became a new team with the new regulations and won immediatley.
Hamilton going to Ferrari will be seen as one of the biggest mistakes in F1 history. Hamilton will not improve the team. The duo Leclerc/Sainz is already the best on the grid imo (I mean look at their wheel to wheel combat), and they have respect for each other. This move is not only a gut punch for Sainz but also for Leclerc who will have to leave in the shadow of Hamilton. And finally having Hamilton in the team will just put even more scrutiny on their incompetence.
Leclerc and Sainz is definitely the most complete driver line-up at the moment.
It's Ferrari, what do you expect. They overthink shit.
Is kinda weird but why not Hamilton dream be that team that mind his last team before his retirement is not bad thing he just want complete his dream
It's not a mistake. He has nothing to lose and no other time to do it.
Ferrari will have the two most popular drivers in F1. Having Hamilton from a branding perspective is huge. We shall see if it translates on the track
Sainz is a better racer than Leclerc. There I said it. Leclerc is faster on one lap, but he's not as smart a racer.
That is what I think will happen next year. Leclerc will out qualify Lewis regularly but Lewis will beat him in the races.
I'd love to Alonso and Sainz in AM. But who knows will Stroll brat get bored of driving 😢
I think people forget Sainz is not some new and young prospect. He's been in F1 since 2015 which doesn't feel like that long ago until you realize this will be his 10th season in F1. He's a veteran at this point.
Drivers like Alonso have skewered the picture and people have forgotten that the average F1 career is only 10-15 years long with most drivers not driving past 35, especially non-champions.
This is his last chance realistically for a top seat. His options are Russell's wingman, the midfield AMR-Honda if Alonso retires this year or the risky Audi-Sauber which could be anywhere in 2026 onwards. Everything else is either booked or basically hanging up the boots on your F1 career.
Point is, he doesn't have the luxury of throwing his career away, he's totally dependent on external circumstances now. I don't see Mercedes going for him, they either need a wingman for Russell or a new young prospect (maybe a bit early for Antonelli) to nurture as the future of Mercedes if they don't have faith in Russell. Maybe he lucks in as a stop gap which is ironically exactly what he was for Ferrari.
May as well try to be the main man at a works project if the Mercedes seat doesn't work out.
The day I see a car with an Audi logo on the starting grid is the day I will actually believe Audi is in Formula One
You put sainz and respectful in the same sentence that says everything
Max leaves RB and Alonso slots in his seat, hmmm, as a big fan of Fernando I still find it hard to imagine that happening as Marko isn't very fond of him. Even if that happens, RB develops their car around Alonso's driving style? Just for a year or two? Hmmm... Unless RB keeps true to their car philosophy and expects Alonso to adapt then maybe.
Completely agree that Audi makes no sense for Sainz. Why anyone thinks a driver hunting for championships would make his decision based on where his did raced in another sport , is bizarre.
Sainz doesn't really have many options. He can either be second driver at Red Bull and Mercedes or risk it all by moving to Stake and wait for Audi to arrive. I don't really see many other good options, other than maybe Aston but that team is kinda all over the place.
@gameofender4463 so ruthless that he got his ass kicked by Hamilton over and over again...
Honestly I think RedBull should’ve signed Sainz for 2025 as soon as Lewis to Ferrari was confirmed
i think he has to stay in a top team during 3 or four years like rb, mer , aston and then go to audi and be number one driver.
I think Sainz already knows where he is going for 2025 and its Audi. The motorsport division is one of the worlds best and history has shown no matter the series they hit the ground running very fast and they have had quite a long run up to get things developed. I think we have already seen their influence in Sauber as its ownership increases year on year and it will be interesting to watch them this season as upgrades happen which will be influenced by Audi.
100% correct take, tho it's true that maybe Audi can also be a medium step to replace Alonso later, either Aston or RB
Under-deliveries at RB due to Hell-mute on schedule. Carlos to RB would be entertaining but teamed with Alonso is proper.
Fernando Alonso champ 2039.
My issue with Carlos Sainz to the Red Bull is that the car doesn't suit him, although I do believe he would be able to set it up well it would still be sub optimal. And as you mentioned he isn't a front runner for the Mercedes seat either. I think Aston Martin is the more realistic option.
But he's more adaptable than other drivers
Audi are already at risk, some of them don’t even want to join the grid
Subscribed after watching this, keep up the great content mate!
Thank you appreciate it :)
I wish Ferrari didn't kick Sainz out. Leclerc was comfortably ahead of Sainz in pace throughout their years together, but DID have more bad luck, so he was a sure-fire number 2 (or 1.5 if you really want to), while Hamilton will either be fighting Leclerc throughout and costing the team points, or, based of Bahrain, he'll be far further behind than Sainz was
Hamilton move to Ferrari is from a marketing point of view
Nowadays Leclerc is probably faster than Hamilton
But from a economic perspective, Sainz don't even come close to Hamilton
I don't think Leclerc will be too aggressive against his teammate close one was 2019 with team confusion order and Brazil went all blow up
Except since his arrival in Ferrari he said he doesn't consider himself a number 2.
Who says Fernando won't be a rookie for a 100 more years?
Audi could be like Toyota or Brawn. Who knows? You can’t be sure going to Audi is definitely a mistake.
I just can't see Alonso going to Merc at this point. If Merc upper management were questioning Lewis because of age then what hope does Alonso have?
Alonso is him
There's only one teammate that Sainz didn't get along well in his entire racing career is ....Verstappen.
Great video Aldas, but I think it's possible that Yuki is the favourite for the AM seat after Alonso due to his Honda links, and how much we know Honda wants to have a Japanese driver in their team
Good point. I totally forgot about that AM will be partnered with Honda.
@@furionese yeah and their desire for Japanese drivers in their team has been going on for decades. Eddie Jordan spoke about how he was forced to release Heinz Harold Frentzen for Sato back in the early 2000s

100% people forgetting this and it's obvious Yuki will never make it to Red Bull. Time for him to make a move like Gasley
A line up of Tsunoda and Stroll isn't going to do much in F1. If I were a Honda exec I would despair.
I do think Mercedes-AMG will seriously go and offer Max to switch around 2026 (or even earlier) if the RBR-Ford power unit change over tests doesn't turn out well.
Aston Martin will be the best bet presently for Sainz.
What's good about VW/Audi though is everytime they switch and move to a new racing ad/venture, they quickly win races. WRC (Audi and VW), LeMans (Audi), DTM (Audi) Pikes Peak (Audi), Dakar (Audi and VW), so am putting Audi as a good switch for Sainz as well.
Although Max is the runaway favourite for 2024, I believe this season is Sainz’s best chance to win over the next five years. Carlos has the car (Ferrari) apparently capable of winning the odd race, so if Carlos can simply put himself in contention at each track he has an outside chance.
It’s time for him to use Keke Rosberg as his inspiration.
As far as the future, Aston Martin may very well be his best option - 100%.
Sainz reminds me of Rosberg
Aston Martin might indeed be his best option. Furthermore I believe the scenario you briefly mentioned in which Max leaves Red Bull and is replaced by Alonso is more likely to happen than one might think right now:
There seems to be much tension between Verstappen's management and Horner, which seemingly started with Horner trying to ditch advisor Helmut Marko last year. The Verstappen's are on Marko's side, because it was him who brought Max into F1 in 2015 and to Red Bull in early 2016.
If Horner stays as team principal despite the current debacle, I can see Verstappen leave Red Bull by the end of the year.
It also makes sense long-term: There is a new set of engine-regulations on the way for 2026. Mercedes has developed F1 engines for the last 20+ years, Red Bull only has had his own engine-department for just a couple of years now and they never had to design and built a powertrain from scratch, since they basically took over what Honda left behind.
So I can see Max replacing Hamilton at Mercedes, Alonso replacing Max at Red Bull, Sainz replacing Alonso at Aston and once Kimi Antonelli is ready for F1, Merceds might either give him a test-driver contract to put Russel under pressure or negotiate a deal for him at Williams similar to what they did with Russel.
Lmao yes Verstappen will abandon the Red Bull in 2025 so another one can take the championship for him
Keep dreamin pal
@@Eriksen-wp3tvIt would be a trade-off:

It would be nice to see Haas finally go for at least one driver who isn't completely useless, as has been their MO since entering the sport. There's no way any of their cars have ever been maximized by any of the drivers they've employed. The best in those terms is Hulkenberg whose shown through his career that he is best at maximizing one lap and 60-70% of a race, if that but no more. Thing is with Aston Martin, Sainz going there would present the same risk as going to Audi, with the teams having new power unit makers in 2026. Plus, how competitive will they be in 2025, is another question. I think it’s more likely he will go to Mercedes for a few years as a way to still be in a competitive car while waiting is see what Audi become. It’s not like Mercedes have become backmarkers and it looks like they might finally be going places with their ground-effect era concept. Great Video mate, can I request a video on the Alpine situation? Loving all the new content, keep it up. much love man. 🙏
Great analysis. The part about Sainz to Audi is exactly what I think as well, despite many people saying that him to Audi is a "good move". Futhermore, I would expect Audi to have two of Bottas/Zhou/Hulkenberg for their first few years until they prove to be competitive enough to attract WDC level drivers. Objectively Bottas and Zhou never underperform the car, and are good enough for a midfield Audi team. Hulkenberg is good too and also German. Why not other midfield drivers? Yes there are other good ones, but realistically what's the point to have them when they are not a big upgrade from Bottas/Zhou/Hulkenberg? In the end I think it's Bottas/Zhou/Hulkenberg to Audi.
Bottas is very good
I think Red Bull and Mercedes should really consider their options with Sainz on the table for next season. I couldn't care less about was RB have promised Ricci, nor Mercedes' plans for Antonelli.
I'd immediately change my mind if Alonso retires and leaves that space at Aston. Like you said, the dev cycle of thaf team has been amazing. They need to be in a position where they aren't lagging mid season as the did last year... if they can sustain the development race this year.... I have hope that Carlos can thrive there.
I liked Sainz at Ferrari, but the move they pulled with Hamilton made 2024 and 2025 already really interesting, at least off track (on track we all know RB will keep winning everything). Personally I'd love to see Sainz in Aston Martin alongside Alonso, but I wouldn't mind if he moved to Mercedes either, which I do believe it's a little more unlikely since they have a lot of options already, even more so if Antonelli will have an incredible F2 season.
Aldas Aldas Aldas what can I say? I still think you were wrong about your drivers ratings back in 2019. But after the Australian Grand Prix and actually having a closer look at has done over the last year I have to say Carlos Sainz has slowly but steadily improved his driving to become currently the strongest driver on the formula 1 grid. I'm not saying that I'm wrong about being critical of Carlos in the past. But honestly, I'm just keeping it real in the present. Good Mr. Sainz!!😀👍🏾
The best combination would be Carlos and Checo in Aston Martin. They are both gentlemen, they both work first for the team, methodical, disciplined, and they also have a good relationship. Checo knows the team well and Carlos replacing Fernando. Of course, all this with the condition that Fernando goes to another team or retires and that Stroll decides to realize that he is not going to give any more.

How long did it take Brawn GP though??
All I'm gonna say is: you could've said the same about Hamilton's move to Mercedes back in the day.
Audi aren't known for half-arsing their motor racing programmes. They reach dominance pretty much everytime they try.
It'll be on them to show Sainz that they're working on a competitive car and engine.
That off hand comment about Alonso to Red bull sounds like another video to me.
If max leaves Fernando will be the best option, he’s fast, he’s hungry and he has the experience of working with a controversial team principal!!
Sainz has proven his worth over the last 2 years. Even if he were to sign with Audi people would still understand his talent if he were to have shortcomings.
In my opinion if Audi come to the table with a pay wage that is hard to turn down he should just accept the deal. Even if he disappoints with them his name is established.
Hot take: he totally can afford to ruin his career - he's paid millions.
Just like Daniel Ricciardo, Jacques Villeneuve or Fernando Alonso
He might not be a better driver, but he is a better team leader than leclerc. He should go to team that will make him that.
Alonso to Merc and Sainz to AMR makes sense . Or Both as teammates in AMR
Didnt know this was a comedy video… lance being replaced!?! Gooooooooooood one…..
He knows he has to take a big risk and i think it's the right decision. It's better to have a chance in 2030 then never. The usual frontrunner Teams have incredible Talent with Verstappen, Norris, Piastri, Leclerc, Antonelli. So the best seats are already filled with very good/better drivers (in their respectable team). He would no doubt be able to find a safer choice for good seats and get good placings, but he won't be able to compete for DWC in them.
Lewis is undoubtedly a great driver but there are several more in his league. His past success was hugely related to the machine that Mercedes gave him. Now that they've been surpassed, he doesn't look that dominant now, Max does, with his superior machine for the time being. The best car is the key.
I wouldn't mind seeing Sainz in Ferarri in WEC
I used to think Audi would be the better option for him to finally get the "1st driver" status I believe he deserves but i just can't bear to think of what a waste of a season he would have AT LEAST for 2025 (could even be more years)... Now I want him on Redbull or Mercedes, he deserves a seat in a top team
Now I am thinking to do deeper research on Audis future in F1 cuz I have been too much biased by hype news and media.
I am Carlos fan and I do not worry about his career as he will get what he deserves. Everything will go smoooooth.
Seeing how F1 changed the engine regulations when Mercedes was coming in to a technology they were already fsmiliar with in other motorsports categories, and how they are doing the same for 2026 by making it more similar to Audi's own rally engine, I think Audi will start with a massive R&D head start for the new regulations and I expect them to be at the front from the get go.
Not sure why people equate Lewis going to Ferrari with Max to Mercedes. Whatever else is said about the Lewis move, the overwhelming reason is that he is looking for an opportunity to get another championship before he ages out of racing, which the last 2+ years have validated that Mercedes can't provide that. He's not leaving a winning team/car. Max is in a completely different situation - he is a winning driver in a winning car with a winning team. It would be crazy to go to Mercedes at this time. And whether you like Horner or not, he was at RB long before Max came along, and if we believe the hype, Max can essentially walk away from RB anytime regardless of his contract thru '28, so it would be crazy to make TP decisions based on any driver. And just curious - would GP go with Max??
Hmmm good analysis. With the new factories and facilities at Aston Martin, and with Honda's onboarding from 2026 season onwards, Carlito can take a punt at Aston. And it could be advisable for him to not go for the Audi seat right now. If he finds out that Aston is not working in 2026, and Audi is, then he can always move to Audi after 2027.
It's a complete no-brainer for Carlos; get in that Audi and make bank (a lot) and for many years to come and as the #1 driver versus putting himself in the harm's way in a yo-yo position at Red Bull. Carlos is one - if not the - smartest driver on the grid today and while he might not be winning as much he would like to, he plays chess while the most of rest of the grid plays checkers. Just a thought.
Here's the problem, since like 2013 that team hasn't finished higher than 8th.
For the past +15 years being a Ferrari driver is throwing your career.
