    I don't see one in the SM, but while in diagnosic mode, scroll down to #51 and flick the kill switch. The fan relay clicks on and off 5 times, and you can listen for the motor cycling on and off. I do this in the video, so follow along with that. Your temp gage is the fault code. It took the first hot day for my fan to ever come on, and that was after 7 months of riding in the Seattle area. Not very hot up here.

    Hi, just one favour if you can : Could you tell me what each codes in 60 refer to? You said 12 is crankcase position default but can you tell me abou the others? My tmax, when I turn the key on it displays 30 then 21 then 30 and so on, not even diag. Just where the trip should be displayed ! Do you what it is? and Thanks again. Very helpful vid.     Hi! I had fault code on d61 (didn't remember the number) and on d62 malfunction either (there was 5 fault codes). I turned kill switch button on and off - it erased. So now, I don't event remember the number which I had on d61. Any ideas how can I restore it? Yamaha Tmax500 is starting up and fails, starting up and fails. It seems something is blocking it from running by some electric components. By the way d08 is 1.1. This sensor is ok.

    It might be your fuel pump issue which caused the bog down of the engine. It's a common malfunction for the newer model tmax. If it failed, some folks recommend to have it replace to the older version tmax fuel pump.

    I have no idea. We were out for 60+ miles yesterday, and Rosie ran fine.
    It may have been water in the fuel, but who knows?

    Er-4 in the SM says: "Non-registered data has been recieved from the meter"
    Choices: Open or short circuit in communication line. Malfunction in meter. Malfunction in ECU (engine control unit) Does it run??? In the SM it says it should not start or run with that code. You may have a plug thats come loose from the ECU, or something like that. Good Luck. BWT

      NO. Only the diagnostic menu in the speedometer. It tells the same thing as an obd port.

      The explanation is on page 8-51 in the SM. It's about the ECU not being able to monitor the battery voltage. It's mostly about the "fuel injection relay". Check "diagnostic code 50". It should give you an idea of the "fault code 43". Check for loose connections and wires to the fuel injection relay. In the diagnostic test for the "actuation operation table, the tests for the injectors is Dia codes #36&37. This makes the actuate and you can hear them operate. Dia code 50 makes the fuel injection relay actuate 5 times. Watch this full video to see what I am talking about. The SM says that the scoot should start and run. Does it?

    Diags could not test the" check engine light" if not running ?

      Diags only work with the engine stopped.

    My tmax engine does not turn on when it is hot (after an run). I can't access to the diag mode (nothing happends). Everythin ok when the bike is cold (not used before). ECU? Please help, local yamaha resellers are nuts...

      If the engine/starter doesn't work, then I would look at the battery. Could be a bad/loose connection or a bad battery. If the engine turns over but doesn't start, it's Tmax Fever and needs a new fuel pump. The pump will work when the engine/fuel tank is cool/cold, but not when the pump is hot.

      @@bigwheelsturning thank you for replying! The starter works, the fuel pump has been replaced... there is no fuelpump sound at power on (no bzzzzzzt). And I can't go to diag mode with the on+select+reset combination in 8seconds

      @@JaceSTK Diag mode won't tell you about the fuel pump. The first time I just changed out the fuel pump motor, but I still got TMF when it got hot out. It was only fixed when I changed out the "complete" fuel pump unit. The real problem is with the "pressure relief valve" in the pump unit. It does not "reset/release" when the pressure drops in the line after the injectors have fired. Did you change out the complete unit when you did it?

      @@bigwheelsturning nope only changed the pump itself. I'm living in a small island in Indian Ocean, and here it is very expensive to order parts. I want to be sure before order it. But ca you tell me if it is normal that no diag mode appears after a run and hot engine?

      @@JaceSTK The diag never gave any info on TMF (Tmax Fever). That was why it was so hard to troubleshoot with the "whole" Tmax user community trying to figure it out. A member in Japan (mech) found out when he hooked up a pressure gage and saw that there was no pressure, and the pump only clicked a few times and stopped. Do you have a parts manual? You need the "complete" pump assembly, and not just the electric pump motor. The part number for my 2009 Tmax complete pump assembly is: 4B5-13907-00-00 Yamaha may have an "updated" part number now.

      SM says: "Power supply to the fuel injector system is not normal". Probable cause: "Malfunction in the charging system". Could be either the alt or the battery, but I'm just guessing now. Is it acting up now?

      @@bigwheelsturning I've recently changed the battery to a lithium powered one. However its not a direct replacement of the 10s battery. It has a lower W/hr. Bike cranks as usual when starting it. Been using it for about 2 months now. Wonder if that could be the cause for the error code.

      @@joelhuang716 If you are not having any problems, it was probably changing out the battery that caused the "fault code". If it hasn't come back after you cleared the last fault code, then it's no problem now.

    please my tmax 500 2010 model , i'm driving but when i stop they cannot be start again its crank but they cannot start. the immobilizer indicator light is not give .when i do this diagnostic .there no come out from the dislay about the diagnostic. please can yu give any causes.

      You have a "classic case" of TMF. "Tmax Fever", and the only cure is to change out the "whole" fuel pump assembly. Had that problem for what seemed like forever until it was discovered in about 2010 on the Tmax Forum at USAmajesty.com that it was the fuel pump.       @@bigwheelsturning thanks sir, but i try to jump the fuel pump relay i heard that the pump is functioning. please do you have any idea how to bypass or just to start to know exactly the problem. in my case theres no any place here to buy a parts. i live in central Africa . maybe you have some trick to do on that fuel pump just give the immobilizer indicator light...

      @@edendaya1836 Yes, the pump will run, but it's the "pressure relief valve" in the pump assembly that is the problem. The first time I just changed out just the pump motor and that didn't fix it (towed home again) so I changed out the complete fuel pump assembly and that fixed it. The problem was fixed in 2009 by a recall in Japan by Yamaha, but not in the rest of the world.

      @@edendaya1836 There will be "no indication" of anything wrong from the diagnostics, or other displays. It just doesn't start when it's hot, or will buck and snort if it does start and maybe go away after some slow bucking loops in a parking lot. Or it will start when you take it off the tow truck.

      d62 shows that there was "1 history" in the system. You would have to go back to d61 and see what number shows up there to find out what problem you have if any. Just "rock" the kill switch to reset the diagnostics while in d62.

      Watch the video to the time "8:15" in the video. It shows in the text over on the screen, that to clear the codes "while in diagnostics mode", to just flick the kill switch off and on a couple times. That will clear the "lean angle code" and all the others held in memory.

      Code 37 is for a "dropped on it's side" reading. Input from the lean angle sensor.

      d61 è solo la parte storica della diagnosi. Se compare 00, allora va tutto bene. Dovrebbe lampeggiare ogni due secondi. Se hai un errore, il suo numero apparirà sullo schermo. I codici di errore vanno da 12-50.

      @@izosaraci7152 Penso che tu abbia "vecchi codici" che non sono mai stati rimossi dalla diagnostica. Ma alcuni di loro erano un po' seri. Il 12, il 14 e il 15 non andavano bene. Se il tmax funziona correttamente, vai in diagnostica e "attiva e disattiva l'interruttore di spegnimento" per ripristinare tutti i codici a zero. Viaggia sicuro

      Thank you for your respond but the probleme is from air bubble in cooling system so i turn on the engine and let the air goes out from the left side then the rpm is good also the code 37 is gone ( sorry for my english)

      @@omardahmane7456 An air bubble in the "fast idle plunger" would give you a code 37. The engine warming up would "affect" the opening of the fast idle plunger. You might take off the "Yamaha Symbol" panel on the right hand side and open the radiator cap to check water levels; then start the engine a let it warm up with the cap off. You will see when the thermostat opens when you see water moving through the system. Keep the cap off for a good minute after the water is circulating to let any trapped air escape. Stop the engine and put the cap back on and you should be good to go. Might be time for a coolant flush too. Your English is fine. Ride safe.

      My 500 SM only has a "diagnostic" code 1, which is the throttle position sensor. If it's "Er-1 and Er-2" codes, then it's the a problem with the ECU. Can't start or run?

      @@ghribimohamed7584 are these "error codes" or "fault codes"? Diagnostic code 60 is an EEPROM fault code display. If there is a fault detected the display will "alternate" between 01 and 02. If that is the case you need to replace the ECU.

      The SM says that FC46 is: "Power supply to the fuel injection system is not normal." It lists probable cause as: "Malfunction in the charging system." Look for ECU coupler, Faulty Battery, Malfunction in rectifier/regulator, and Open or short in wire harness. Look at page 8-52 for more options.
