I had the honor of singing with this wonderful choir for approximately 15 years when I lived in New Jersey , including the 50th anniversary. Bill Hummel
Watching this musical memory brought tears to my eyes, as live music has been on hold in this time COVID-19. Nothing like praising God through the combined power of hundreds of inspired voices!
One of the most glorious choral arrangements ever written. This takes me back to when our New Jersey church choir sang this in this wonderful auditorium a couple times back in the 1980s. We even had an operatic soprano in our choir who could hit the high C# at the end. Still gives me chills.
It doesn't get much better than this......... one of my absolute, all time FAVORITE songs Jason. Beautifully performed and directed. Thank you. I really needed to hear this tonight..............
I've been blessed to sing this arrangement 3x in concert... and once right here in the Great Auditorium. And I have yet to be able to make it through once. It's too powerful for me, and I get choked up every single time!!! Christ is RISEN!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!
Reminds me of the years I spent at Anderson University as this was one arrangement that we sang at every performance. Even just listening makes my chest tighten.
@@JasonTramm from my recollection the Anderson University Chorale has been singing this arrangement since the choirs conception. I remember as a college student there singing it all over the US, Finland, Sweeden, Saint Petersburg Russia and Switzerland. There have been few that I have had this feeling with. The pipe organ that we used at Anderson University is has the lowest pipe in most of the world (so was told to me by the greatest organist that I have had the pleasure of hearing) Mrs. Shirley Coolege.
When I survey the wondrous cross On which the Prince of glory died, My richest gain I count but loss, And pour contempt on all my pride. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, Save in the death of Christ my God! All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to His blood. See from His head, His hands, His feet, Sorrow and love flow mingled down! Did e’er such love and sorrow meet, Or thorns compose so rich a crown? Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were a present far too small; Love so amazing, so divine, Demands my soul, my life, my all.
Jason, where is the entire recording/video of the most recent Choirfest? I know I watched it (after being there in person) but now I can't find it. Thank you!
@@JasonTramm Ohhh, that's what I was afraid of! There was a piece I wanted to hear again, it was so ethereal and moving...it was early in the concert and a woman conducted. I can't find my program now.
PRAISE HIS EXCELLENT GREATNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, man, it just doesn't get any better than that! Talk about praise and emotion overtaking you!
Pagan religions will do that to you.
@@sanmcnellis94 Hello friend! I assure you my God is alive and real. I pray He reveals Himself to you!

He is risen indeed! Wishing you every blessing!
In my opinion, the most beautiful anthem ever written.
This is a nice arrangement, but I still think Fred Mallory's version is the best. Sadly, there are very few recordings of it on TH-cam
I don't know that one but will look it up!
@@JasonTramm the best youtube recording I've found is from First Baptist, Dallas - from a Christmas program!
A fine performance of this grand anthem! Thank you for sharing! Soli Deo Gloria!
Glad you enjoyed it!

The composer taught a Westminster Choir College and they sing it all the time as well. When I survey... the circle of fifths!

I think the Camp Meeting took down the live stream.

If only that organ had a 64 foot reed on that last chord.
Thx for listening, that would be epic!
