I acquired this ceramic coffee filter brewer years ago, and surprisingly, it's stood the test of time - at least its external structure. But what about the inner workings? Does it make a coffee that's worth all the fuss? Or should this brewer be reserved to tea? Let's brew and find out!

Has anyone ever actually broken one of these?

I use a silicone mini spatula to scrape out the grounds and it works fine without any catching and gets most of the grinds out. It's much quicker, easier, and more comfortable for my hands. I'm waiting for one of these companies to include a silicone cleaning device with theirs because the tedium of cleaning is I think what prevents most people from buying.

its a menace when live in a busy city... lmao
but ngl it actually satysfying to use when i stay at my grandma's village. it just perfect with the environment overall, and kinda easy to clean it when i was there.

Cool thingy. You could probably use a rubber/silicone gasket to eliminate the noise

I bought this same filter some time ago and it is my daily driver now. So I have made at least 50 cups of coffee with it and there is no wear or tear yet, nor have the pores clogged to require the maintenance on a gas stove.
    Couple things to note:
    - You do not need to flush the grinds down the sink. After it has cooled down a bit, but not dry yet, I just flip if upside down above transhcan and gently tap it, which removes at least 80% of the grinds. Optionally, I sometimes use a spoon to (very very gently) remove as much of grinds as I can. Of course, there is always some residue that goes down the drain when I wash it.
    - According to the instructions, a toothbrush works as a clening tool. I just use my hand though.
    - When doing maintenance over open fire, the filter should be upside down, according to instructions. (Don't know if it makes any differense though)
    - Mine came with a "holder" that can be used to balance the filter on top of any cup/glass, which balances the filter quite well. (39shop.jp/)
