  • Before US Olympic swimmers head to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games, they'll have to pass win during the Olympic trials at Lucas Oil Stadium.
    The facility, normally host to the Indianapolis Colts' football games, had an 8.2 foot deep pool installed to hold over a million gallons of water for the event.
    The trials run from June 15-23 while the Paris Olympic games will go from July 24 - August 11.

    It's great. In reality, it's just a huge above ground pool, similar to those found in many backyards (Just more complex due to its size).

    How do they fill in the sides? Did they pour concrete into the pool? This is amazing!

    Terrible music .... Why? cannot be as cost effective as an existing facility?

    • @cabodesign
      @cabodesign 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because of the stands capacity. It was cheaper to build a temporary pool within a venue that can fit a lot of people than to increase the capacity of already existing swimming venue.

    Is this really Lucas Oil Stadium? Is the pool permanent? I thought the DCI final on August 10 will be there.

    • @paullangland6877

      It's not permanent. What they did was create an elevated platform so the pool itself is on the ground. So when the Olympic Swimming qualification stuff is over with, the pool with be dismantled and the stadium will be once again ready for other events. This honestly feels more like a test of what can be done.

      Not likely coming out of your pocket so why the concern?

      A combination of Indianapolis economic development funds, corporate sponsorships, US Olympic budget, etc. Infrastructure of all the pools have already been sold - they will be dismantled and shipped to other locations for permanent installs. Allows for over 20K spectators - have already broken records for highest attendance for any swimming event in history.
