thanks to you for the comment. I took all the informations from the Official Kathy Kirby's biography "No Secrets Anymore". Here is reported that the name of the interviewer was "B.A. Robertson"

B.A Robertson was a pop singer with long hair in the 1980s and he briefly had a chat show around they time and I remember seeing it and it was very embarrassing as he was not very tactful with her at all . This is much more respectful

James Hogg is the reporter here if you listen again to the introduction

This interview is from 'Nationwide' and the interviewer is James Hogg. Kathy Kirby later (around the same time) appeared on 'A BA In Music' on BBC1 (23rd August, 1982) hosted by B.A. Robertson, who was a hopeless interviewer and was stumped as to what to ask her. He asked her the same question about four times. In fairness, he might have been really uncomfortable and nervous as the first guest on the same show was Annabella Lwin and she gave a foul mouthed rant and stormed off the set, completely terrifying Robertson.

As true as that tv title you gave may or may not be, unless I've failed to appreciate irony it was called ' Stars and Garters'. Now that I've written it down, i wonder why, as your title is more understandable to me : why the ' Garters ' ?

Stars and Garters was the name of the “pub” which was the setting for the show.

B m t h3961 badly used by Ambrose, but she loved him, and I'm sure her song "Where In The World" was for him. RIP Kathy

I think her last her last record to be released was called "HE" (1981) I listen to it, it sounded very dated as if it could have been recorded back in the mid 60's
if she is taking advice she is listening to the wrong people.
in 1982 at the time of this interview she was still a relatively a young woman yet she still had the same hair do she had in the 60's and that goes for her clothing too. She needed to reinvent herself with good song writing talent, with up to date music. Without this she didn't stand a chance to revamp herself.

I agree with you entirely!! It’s interesting to note that Bert Ambrose was fifty nine years old when she met him. He really did have a Svengali-like hold over her, and he was culturally as far away from 60’s pop as you could get. It was for this very reason that she was never a threat to Dusty, Cilla and Sandie et al, who were mini-skirted mods, whereas Kathy was more like 1950’s film star. Ambrose saw her as a dance band singer only. She wanted to record an Italian ballad that she’d heard. Ambrose said “no’, the ballad, entitled “You’re my world” went to Cilla Black, and the rest, as they say, is history!! The interview gives us a good insight into her childlike immaturity and dependence on him. A very sad story, indeed.

Not quite sure why she hung around with the old band leader from the 1930's? He destroyed her.

She became like watching Doris day or Vera Lynn trying to continue on with the same style into the 1970s and 80s. She couldn't see that era had passed. She just didn't seem to adapt to the changes around her. Also if she had a few good lawyers she could have sued the pants off the news papers of the day for deformation of character etc.
