Thanks for the stitch & sharing your thoughts! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ I totally agree that there are no actual *hard and fast rules* for everyone.

I think I disagree with your perspective on this a bit. There are no "rules" in dreams like that. I think that dreams are ours. We create them, we do control them, even when we're non-lucid, subconsciously or consciously. We shape our dreams through how we perceive the experiences themselves in any given moment. You don't have to control every aspect, but there's no rule against doing this for those that can. The problem I have with these arbitrary rules that are out there, every single "don't do in a lucid dream because of " is that these sorts of things create associations. Someone who is new to lucid dreaming, a blank canvas if you will, is really impressionable when they are just starting out. This was me over 2 years ago, so I know what it's like for the average beginner to listen to someone who presents really really well but says things that aren't right. Beginners can't tell what to listen to and what to ignore, and it's not their fault. When you tell someone that you can't do a certain thing in a lucid dream or you shouldn't because of some negative consequence or result, you now create this association between doing the "forbidden" action and achieving some negative result. This becomes what I call a self-fulfilling prophesy. The beginner now goes and does said "forbidden" thing in a dream, and they get a negative result, not because they have to or because it's a rule, but because this is what they perceived would happen, what they most strongly associated, either consciously or subconsciously, with happening in that moment, so it happens. One's mindset and beliefs while dreaming do a lot to shape one's dreams, so it is important to exercise caution when claiming there are any "rules" in a lucid dream, as it is very much the case for many beginners these days that these "rules" manifest due to preconceived notions that one has due to how they have learned.
Beliefs and mindset are really important too. There's a solid amount of disagreement in approaches to lucid dreams and dreaming in general between those who take a more spiritual approach to dreams and lucidity and those that take a more scientific or vanillah approach. I personally take a more scientific approach, and I'm looking to trace things in my dreams to the specific associations and elements that brought them into being, which I can do pretty well in my dreams. My dreams also aren't spiritual in nature either, and that reflects the mindset I have toward dreams, which makes sense to me. I don't think one's beliefs or thoughts about dreams and what is or isn't okay should be restricted by another per say. I also don't think the things I have discussed herein are malicious or intentional either. I think people genuinely think they are helping others either through relaying their personal experiences or those of others they know, and they think they are doing a positive good, but don't actually know or realize just how this can negatively effect people in their dreaming lives. At the end of the day, we're all different, and our dreams will reflect that. I personally think it's best to not make rules for anyone, but to let them subjectively decide for themselves what to believe based on their approach to dreaming and lucidity.

I Think we agree more than you think. I always talk about how there are no rules :) Im not sure if the dreams are fully "ours" because i do believe in an aspect of the collective shared space. but for the most part I agree with you!
