Just started my welding journey at 46 years old 😮😮. This is brilliant thanks so much for sharing as a mk7 transit owner I’m 100% sure I will be revisiting this time and time again. Thanks so much
Bigger holes for plugs can be 8 or 10 mm doesn’t matter but need to get the inner sill fused properly to the outer via the plug welds, get yourself a little dolly hammer and and knock in the long seam to allow for a thin skim of filler will make a diy job look pro. On the back of that I think you done a really good job for your first attempt 😊
Hi I've a transit 54 plate only way to keep old transit on the rd is to waxole everywhere they rust from inside out excellent video especially for first attempt at welding. Thanks
Cheers! Waxoil is something I have been considering and after this project and the SWB Transit welding job I do think the welding has improved considerably! 😂
Need some advice anyone know why the lip doesn’t need to be seam welded if there’s drain holes and the sills are structural on these models? Just did a job similar to this on the foot well on a transit and kept the back lip shorter and tacked it all along (cutting corners) but the guy wants it all welded up, but I think doing that on the edge of .8mm lip is gonna be mingin! Any tips?
On this video's it's the Clarke 135te turbo, setting is 1 and min with a wire feed of between 6/7 I'm also using co2 gas. You will need to test your welder on some scrap pieces to dial it in for your machine ☺️

Great to hear! :)
Nice job little tip for you make the cuts with the grinder at 45 degrees in stead of 90 you get less gap to fill 👍
Good tip!
Top videos mate! Giving me the confidence to have a go myself!

Hi when plug welding you need to get enough heat into both metals so the migwire penatrates.. Hope this helps..
Thank you.
Excellent sill repair
Thanks 👍
Cracking job and having gone so far, I'd get some wax in those box sections.
This got fluid filmed after the job was done and it got painted ☺️

Great job,do you mind telling me what type of welding set you use.
I use the Clarke 135TE TURBO with 0.6mm wire and just co2 gas. Not with the argon mix. Hope it helps ☺️
Cheers, I’m too scared to attempt this 😂😂 but I’ve a mate who’s gonna give it a go on my mk7
Well you can always watch him for a little bit and then give a small area a shot yourself :)
