  • How do you start a campaign? My campaigns became a lot better when I started being upfront with players about expectations and gave the beginning some structure instead of just throwing them into it! Check out this video for some tips, and as always, in 7 minutes or less.
I swear, I was planning to make this non-mechanics related video before the news about the Remaster came out!

How is this only seven minutes. It felt like a whole movie! In the best way possible. So much information delivered in such an amazing way. Your content is king.

Among other things (as in - the video being well researched, thought out, and scripted), it's the complete lack of filler bullshit.
      - He doesn't start with "Heeeeeeey guuuuuuuuuys, welcome back to "
      - Followed by "so I was "
      - And "but anyway I want to thank "
      - Finally inching towards "And without further ado..." (mandatory phrase - you can't just go on to the video's topic without further ado without saying "without further ado", according to some esoteric youtube guidelines, I guess)..." before navigating to the video's actual topic.
He's down to the point, and that's respectable in today's "shovelware content" landscape of youtube.

I've been trying to organize a first time PF2e campaign with my friends for a while, your videos have been an awesome help to learn the game and plan things out to get them on board. Really appreciate your content!

I have a plan for an adventure where the party begins in a tavern, they're travelers who have happened to wander into the same town around the same time, when suddenly the adventure hook strikes and someone unqualified bursts into the place with a problem only our intrpid crew can solve. Then theres a few things to draw them in, such as the mention of a reward for doing this, but only after they have the chance to offer to help out of the kindness of their hearts.

I love starting my campaigns with several mini pre-adventures. These include only a couple of players at a time allowing for easier connections between them. These duos go through a few encounters to get a feel for their character in-play as well as how they want to roleplay them. By the end of this pre-adventure, they end where the actual session one will begin. As my table tends to have 6-7 players, this means around three groups of 2-3 players in each group. This gives these smaller groups a closer bond with each other and history together before joining the main group and makes roleplaying a lot more interesting later on in the campaign.

Disclaimer on adventure paths: do note that to the gm it may sound like a fun adventure but depending on the players playstyles they may not enjoy it. Aps is a long commitment taking year or two (or more) depending on how often you play and how long per session. Even the 3 book aps do take a while to complete based on gain how often you play.
Starter box for pathfinder 2e is always strongly recommended for newcomers since it can help teach you how the general flow of adventures work to the gm and player. Stand-alone adventures are good with them only take maybe 4-8 sessions depending on how long they are. Society quests can be done in 2-3 sessions or less with them having a metaplot of the season they are set in. Plus they made intro society quests to get new ppl in and see how they work.
In the end if your the gm make sure you know the players playstyle and preferences before picking an adventure path.

Tenra Bansho has a chart of ‘relationships’ to give a quick idea about how people interact
This seems like a great introduction to being a dungeon master, hopefully people find this.

I'm creating my own campaign for a bunch of my close friends. First time to GM a Pathfinder game, but I'm eager to try. I have a cool story concept that I'm sure they'll love.

I mean, imagine the merfolk party does have a ship that's filled with water but from the outside looks like a normal ship, so when they get into ship combat the enemy will realize they can't sink their unsinkable, completely modular vessel

There was a missing topic, procrastination (the 2nd BBEG) due to thinking you are not ready. (I have been in this stage for a while, and run a couple of 1 shots in that time) t
