- I took the challenge to try and gear up with a new account all by myself and in todays video I will be sharing my experience as well as talking about the reason why solo players have it so much harder than players that play with a team.

I completed the entire campaign on console with NO GROUPS and NO DARK ZONE. My advice, complete all of the side missions in each area before moving on to the next. Extensively sweep each area before moving on, and you should dunk on all of the enemies.
I am pretty much doing the same expect I visited the dark zone once (for the discovery xp) and I managed to extract 5 items which I kindof found just on the ground and four out of the five I immeditely sold and I kept one but it was a simple blue with just slightly higher stats that I managed to replace in little time

The gap between Hard, Heroic and Challenging is a joke. And the recommended gear is the biggest bullshit in this game.
yea recommended gear score just doesn't reflect the actual difficulty
I think between normal and hard is fine, but then challenging is a different story... and not to mention heroic

I know this video is old but as for the "rules" I would have said you can go to the DZ if you wanted but only solo, so you can experience all the ass hats that decide just to go around ganking "Because I can". That is the only thing that killed the DZ.
Banhammer72 I love to go in the DZ, find a group that is taking down a landmark, and land a single shot on the boss. They'll probably kill you but just go back and pick up your loot. Pisses them off Big Time
I love seeing this in 2021. I pre-ordered this game and went through much of this game without teaming up and it took forever. I finally purchased headphones with a mic, and actually teamed up with a good group that carried me through missions, incursions, and lastly dark zone, and my score went up 100 points in a single day of playing. I was a total noob to the Division and had no real idea about "gear building" and they walked me through it. If it wasnt for those 3 guys(which Im still friends with today), who knows how long it would have taken me.

I've played the division from start to finish solo. Gear score is 240. There is no issue playing alone. I've never matchmaked or played in the dark zone.
TheHaywireRogue mostly the same for me. I’ve done some matchmaking but with ragtag groups the game threw together so they weren’t super hardcore. Haven’t had many issues gearing up. Didn’t even have much problems playing the dark zone solo. Ran into a few teams ganking solos like me but I just came back at a different time and they weren’t around so I could go about looting and killing NPCs for gear
TheHaywireRogue I actually played the entire game from level one to gear score 230 solo. After I ran dz and helped some new players level throw the game.

I'm late to this game but I want to go into the darkzone. Is it game over for solo players or do you have to register as a rogue agent for other players to hurt you?
I played the game for 3 days solo and got 263 gear score meh
To be 100% honest you find some very nice people on the game especially when you are doing hard missions, because they understand how difficult it is to get started. So Good on the people who helped!
As a PS4 player, i can guarantee you that doing this would have absolutely not been possible
You get kicked even at gs219 from Falcon Lost... on Hard setting...
Finding groups for Heroic missions is a serious endeavour at times, even at peak hours. You get kicked no matter your gear score 7/10 times and the 3 times you don't, there's a 70% chance of a bad team
Anyhow, i barely play any more. It's just gotten too out of hand in my opinion
mobs are just insane at the moment, they fuked up quite a lot and the game is pretty boring and stale now
luckily i have my main character to transfer gear and shit to my 2nd char

maybe in like 3-6 months, like Destiny, i guess. Took them like a year or until like Taken King if i'm not mistaking, to fix it. from what i read from Destiny players... hahaha

@@LeonardJackson You get in on the Division 2 private beta? They say a change is as good as a holiday. "They" were right. It was nice, same same but different. I liked that UBI have split 5.56 and 7.62, 9mm and .45 Having LMG, SMG, AR, Rifle(marksman), and Sniper class weapons makes it more fun as well. I actually got caught out once, didn't notice at first that there's a 9mm AUG SMG, and a 5.56mm AUG AR :) Can't wait to see if there are gonna be new mods for and more bigger caliber sniper rifles, seeing a 7.62 SRS A1 was a bit odd TBH, they're always win mag or Lapua in games. But it was more, and new and different. Still a few bugs in the beta, some cover mechanics don't work, upped some footage to youtube for bug reports, sure they'll sort it out before release. Gonna be a cool game tho

Much respect for going through that detailed explanation. I have been playing the division for only 9 months, 12 days of play time. I’m a solo player. Can’t find any group to link up with so I stay to myself for the most part. The part you explained about collecting all the gear and it being useless. I find myself deconstructing a lot of gear because it’s useless. Again, thanks for the confirmation with your breakdown!

just a heads up from Dec 2017. It is way easier to gear up now from what I see. Playing solo. Just got the game, gone through story completing all events on the way. Next step that I took was collecting phones, echoes and stuff. You have cache containing high score gear every 400k exp, you get 110k for each collectible. I've reached 270 gearscore in 5 days of casual play.
Solo players generally do not like matchmaking, or having other players carry you. I generally do not want to play content with others until I feel I can contribute. I do not find it fun waiting around for matchmaking, or playing with randoms. It is a waste of time. Macro, you are looking for groups that will play with you, which is what solo players do not want to do.
But it's what people do so this comment is not only old, but irrelevant
Even though, you don't need to wait for people to start a mission, they can show up even at the middle of it. I don't see the issue there, unless it was like that a year ago.
Just started playing this game 6 years after this video was uploaded haha, definitely a lot harder to find players to team up with. Didn’t realize how old the game is
Y'all it's all in the world tier. All you have to do is go around to the free room bosses all over the map they drop two pieces. Once you've done that and you've got good enough to up your world tier. Eventually you get to world tier 5 which is very easy to get to by the way you just go around and keep killing his bosses until you are 256. There are plenty of videos to show you good routes to kill these bosses. I did this as a solo player. It's pretty easy.

Yeah, spend hours in maktchmakings hoping that someone will eventually carry you through the endgame. Playing solo sounds super fun.
And here for are on 1.8 and solo from start to 290 is actually possible and fun. Still slower but with groups its always going to be better. The dedication you put in. 20+ hours to make a solid video. That’s why we have mad respect for you Marco. I remember 1.1 all the way to 1.4. I was solo but only grouped when the patches dropped so I could get my GS all the way up. Solo was impossible before 1.4.

I dont know about the early game much, but even back in 1.5 days it was pretty easy to get from GS 00 to GS 256, all you need is a patience and time for it. Finishing ordinary missions in hard mode alone will get you there eventually. I even leveled up a character all the way to level 30 without leaving Brooklyn, but that place is bugged for any end game, because you can not change the world tier and mission reward as well as named enemy drops are both just a single green GS 38 items, which is useless for the end game character.
Dude I have mad respect for Marco he uses his day and hours to do one video to help out the community not only that he also bought a brand new account wow.
I don't want to be carried... I want to play to contribute... feel like I am doing something useful which makes it fun... I carried some of my friends 2nd characters.. they hated it...

I find people's whining about solo playing rather disturbing. I did the entire game and all end game like this. All my friends refuse to play this game because it's too buggy and too repetitive. So I play alone or matchmake. I bought the game about 6 weeks ago and I've achieved a gear score of 228. Do people REALLY think its that hard???
quite apparently they do :P , its funny since you'll find alot of them posting and raging about it, The good side about it, competitive players are now more now compared to whiny adult babies.
Cory Smart The problem is, for me at least, is that I love the thrill and intensity of the dark zone. However, almost everyone on the servers are rogues now, which was never the case. I remember back when it came out entire servers would chase a rogue but it's completely the other way round now and it's impossible to have fun in the Dz. getting one shot because I'm in some wanker rogues bracket is not fair.
The Underground isn't meant for solo players the tips in the loading screen even say that the Underground is best experienced with veteran players in a group. Its best for players who don't like the dark zone. I don't like the dark zone either but finding a good team for challenging mode is hard because people don't stick together, activate directives when the mission is hard enough already, and don't help out their teammates. I know that it sounds like I'm just complaining but this is my experience with the Underground. I still like it though.

+Michal Korejtko it is scaled but only in terms of how many enemies you have to fight...and let 34 elites are not possible to kill solo with 200 gear score...lvl 34 is completely insane...lvl 32 would be appropriate, like in the challenge incursion and missions...massive logic xD

I play solo. I drive truck for a living so I don't get to play often but i get my daily, weekly, and survival challenges done. I get underground challenges done if I have time. If you understand how to engage npcs and the skills on your gear you'll be fine. Are you on ps4?

As a solo player in most grind games a lot of the problems I face is mainly getting kicked other than that not much of problems. Grinding is just redoing the same thing over and over again only takes longer compared to groups. Thanks for the effort you made man.
this is so true... this is my character at the moment to a tee. everything I do is useless and I can't run challenging or heroic on my own and I have to hope I get carried. keep up the vids man, great job!

went through 21 hours of grinding just for your subs? thats what i cal determination and dedication, keep it up!
I run reclaimer and a buddy I duo most content with runs tactican. We can run most content duo without too many issues at all so don't kick people from our matchmaking for low gear scores. We also drop gear that's really on useful to us as credits (to buy boxes to earn more Bird bucks) since we've min maxed and have crafting mat caps.
If I'm on solo I'll shift over to one of my more dps orientated builds and take low gear score players on a quick 256 boss run, using my mic to let them know where we're fast traveling to next and dropping anything I pick up to them.
Seems there's few enough people playing these days (On PS4) that helping others to gear up so we can run other things together only benefits the community. We talked about the gear progress issues you pointed out in this vid and decided that since we didn't have much else to do in game (we don't bother with DZ) helping new players was a worthwhile use of our time.
I don't have any ideas on fixing the issue and don't think about it to much anymore. Division is getting a bit tedious, we're not even sure we'll bother min-maxing for 1.7. Might just drop the Div altogether. We would like more narrative content, map expansion for NYC or even more underground areas in the open world that are extensive like the UG expansion. I want a reason to play other than just better gear, and unfortunately Div isn't giving us that.
that's pretty cool... I started TD at the end of 2017 when they did the free weekend and I definitely got carried a few times by folks like you. After a while I got to carry some other folks which was pretty cool... I feel like that's the way to play, really. Plus it's more of a challenge when you're carrying someone who's not incompetent, but just less experienced than you... I never went to the DZ, because I'm not a huge fan of pvp. As a card carrying solo player though, I really enjoyed the match-making in this game.
with all due respect, ALTERNATIVE OPTION (MAX GEAR SCORE playing on NORMAL DIFFICULTY)
1.Play the underground
2.Level up in the underground
3.Every time you level up an Underground level, you get a Cache with (almost EVERY TIME) better gear score in it.
4.Equip the new items you got from the Cache (even if you lose bonuses from gear set pieces, the loot you get is based on the gear score your at when you open the cache) so that the loot you get from the next one is even better and so on.
Went from 160 to 204 in one hour, now getting 240 gear score items from those caches, you can even transfer those gear to another character level 30 to level up those 39 undergrounds levels all over again with good gears from the get go. So even if you suck at the game, you can earn end game loot even playing on normal difficulty. Of course, takes quite a lot more time than being carried.

Iv'e been playing about a week, am crap, and find all the stats/gearing up ect heavy going, but am really enjoying it. I know i'll get there eventually, and your vid's help clear the fog a bit. I don't know why i chose to bypass this game over the years, but realise i have the advantage of reaping the benefits of updates/content and improved game play. One happy bullet magnet.
It is a bit heavy up to level 10, you're made of paper in the beginning. Once you start getting purple stuff it starts speeding up. Most RPGs are like that in the beginning.
The game has changed a lot since this video came out. For one thing, after completing the story and hitting level 30, the West Side Piers are accessible. It's like the dark zone in there, but solo/co-op only and no extractions. At higher world levels (After finishing and hitting 30 you can adjust the game's base difficulty making free roam more challenging, up to level 32 or 34 for basic NPC targets).
Playing West Side at world level 4 or 5 the PVE opponents all drop gold and turquoise/set items a lot. No white green blue or purple at all. I got my 272 Big Alejandro exotic LMG from a named elite on West side, think it was Johnson the cleaner elite, and my 264 Ninja bike bag exotic from a Miller spawn.
You can make 2mil sales from 30 minutes of just running around shooting at random spawns. And your "level bar" fills fast, each time it fills up you get a field proficiency lewt box with some random stuff often turquouse/set items, and Phoenix credits. You can also buy basic cache lewt boxes for 400 000 regular credits, they often have set items as well as Phoenix credits.
2500 Phoenix credits buys you a classified gear lewt box...
Makes the game less grindy for me just running around fighting for my life against the toughest random.
The underground expansion is also fun after level 30. The addition of the Hunter NPCs from Survival was a nice touch in Underground. Got a classified predator item from one of them a few weeks ago
I bought Division 1 about a month ago and got to a very high level under these rules not knowing any better. You just have to complete all the encounter, side missions and main missions and loot as much as possible.
solo is the best way to be a good player

Yeah the games boring as shit the farming sucks the dz is full of metas and toxic ass cunts and the skirmish is too easy no ones on survival underground is lame the game blows I've played since beta and ive quit 3 weeks ago it's hard letting go of a game you used to enjoy and spent over 6000hrs on

Dated video, dated comment, sorry. Bought the game in December?? Basically, 1.8 is when I started. And I can tell you, IT IS NOT AT ALL DIFFICULT TO REACH MAX GEAR SCORE by yourself. Minus Incursions of course. Even the DZ can be done easily solo. You'll have those shit days (the DZ isn't supposed to be friendly), but I got my first house in the DZ (palace landmark). Literally took 20 minutes to extract it, LOL. But you get the jist. 100% with SKILL and dedication, you can max out a character BY YOURSELF.
pro tip: when you're calling in the extraction, dip out. Go about 2 blocks away from the zone and chill around there. I usually headed back towards the EZ with around 45 seconds or so. Make sure to throw your bag (healing station) near the rope, and be ready to pop your ultimate (you should be running the green, or blue if you're solo). I think it takes them 4 seconds to cut the rope? But you literally have until the last possible millisecond to start placing your gear (the chopper doesn't immediately take off when that clock strikes zero, if someone is interacting with the rope.), so if you HAVE to, wait until there is 4 seconds left before you decide to make your move on the rope. If you die in the process? So what? As long as your gear is locked in, you're chillin

The resistance mode has sort of filled the gap Marco was on about I've played mostly solo and got 4 d3 peices this has allowed me to farm pier 93 to get at least 2 classified or exotics per 20 mins I normally get destroyed on level 10 which is a shame as if I could finish that level I would be getting 3-4 drops.. The global event is out now and I'm rocking 5 out of 6 classified d3 so its only a matter of time before I drop on the 6th an I will be able to farm 4 items on pier 93 easy
Great vid man ! I am a solo player, and play only PVE since im not a PVP guy. Im now on level 26 in the game, however I find it very challenging as a solo player. I really like the division but I dont like the bullet spungenes of the game even after all of the latest patches. I play on PC by the way. Keep up the good vids =)
This video is relevant to me 100%. First time playing The Division in 2020. The problem is there is no one to matchmake missions or free roam. I step in the dark zone and get insta-killed so I don't go in there. Crappy gear and cant beat some side missions. Game is pretty fun though to walk around apocalyptic NYC.

Playing it solo is more difficult but definitely possible. I’m seeing so many people complaining about farming the dz solo but that is also doable. It’s all about timing in the dz. It’s so easy to extract and stay hidden....you just gotta know the when and where to keep the “ganking” at a minimum. But I honestly stopped playing since the game died off and also because most players in the dz now are modded clowns who hang out at west 42nd all day 😂

Shoot I did “Challenge”, at the consulate... they just stood there... four in a row, on the other side of the metal detector.. NOT ONCE reloading... I would pop the corner, shoot one, get lit (of course), to see if they would move... NOPE!
Are it and continued on. It was a literal wall of bullets. I used my drone, nades, even shot their smart nades too. Did EVERYTHING to make them move, so I could use cover.
But man! It was a bitch. I went back down to hard... which sucks because I melted them. Like Marco said, no middle ground. I still enjoy the game, but disappointed for sure.
LOLOLOLOLOL, this is awesome, MarcoStyle had to use Blue and green gear! This is exactly how I geared up when I reached the endgame. There were lots of Level 268 agents that didn't kick me and now I pay it forward every time I get an invite.
Trying to solo the game now from the start is pretty tough with not being able to find anyone in matchmaking
I can say that you CAN gear up and level up to max gear score (with 1.4/1.5) solo.
I've gotten to 256 without a 4 man doing everything solo (hard and annoying trying solo but possible).
Abuse the hell out of the world tier.
Got to 256 in 2 hours (after reaching 30) w/o the expansions...course I used the dark zone and got lucky in some cases but still people are willing to help you out... except those dam rouges they can rot in hell lol
Jacob Adams I have problems with them too. They kill way to fast and these dudes are super pros. Make the game not worth playing.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. It's pointless to have such a thing that only dictates the DZ bracket and difficulty of Incursions. For the DZ they should just divide it by rank. each bracket should be a division of 20 ranks, that way you have 5 total brackets (20, 40, 60, 80, 90+).

I've been a solo player since release, very rarely have a group.
I've had my issues, but I am currently sitting on a fully optimized striker and nomad build, level 30, max DZ rank, and 4k commendation score.

I'm only level 26 and have played solo the whole time. I feel like I've yet to experience the pain this game will unleash on me. I've gotten my ass kicked numerous times.
Went to dz once just to see it, got some items with no issues. Don't feel like being a dick to other players there, just get in, loot and leave.
I soloed fine until hard mode missions. I just couldn't solo them. I didn't have a build, i mostly used best items i've found and heals as the skills. Maybe i should try again with a real build. My problem was getting ganked in the start of missions when i didn't have room to retreat, maybe a real build won't take that problem away though..

Pro tip, I levelled to end game doing the roaming bosses solo, guaranteeing at least 2 drops per boss, 12 boss = full kit for 30mins work. Keep increasing your world tier as soon as your able. Then after that i just farmed Lexington on challenging with anyone who'd have me. I keep an eye on the vender resets (good resources on web for this). purple enemy armour damage on everything, kit re rolled for pve (damage to elites, enemy armor damage, crit change, crit damage etc), ferocious on your guns and some skull gloves (they drop like candy from the roaming bosses) = elite melting!
Watched this video for the second time in a while and kind of forgot the fact that there are no hackers on console. But whatever.

it may just be on ps4 but my experience with trying to find ppl to carry me in challenging incursions is hell, like i can't grind to get the best 214 gear to be able to do challenging and the thing is, i made a sentry build to be able to be some use for my team but the problem isn't even specifically me, sometimes its the team. (btw i have to inflate my gs because having a 205 gs doesn't get me a spot on the challenging incursion team)and finding a group for the dz is worse since i keep getting matched up with ppl in the 231+ bracket 😢

This game was and still is hard to progress after end game. It is not harder now, it was hard and still is hard. Remember all the hours?
I created an alternate two weeks ago and past end game there are two choices. Grind again like we all did, or get geared up immediately from shared inventory.
Creating the 2nd character was easy because I was metagaming with a couple hundred hours of experience. But for a total new player starting with low GS doesn't know much about the missions expect to get kicked A LOT.
I mean, I get removed just by wearing police backpack and 2 piece lonestar ready myself for the waste not want not directive.
I also realized immediately right after underground came out there are lots of people with high GS score, poor build, poor gaming skills, and can't play through incursions' "hard" mode.
That's why using the mic helps. There's tons of people who are willing to help out if they know u aren't gonna be a reckless idiot who's gonna get everyone killed. If u can talk to them before the mission starts u can let them know you're cool and they are much less likely to kick u. I don't mind carrying a noob who's willing to follow the gameplan. I won't carry an idiot Rambo who can't do team play to save his life
I would say 1 in 3-4 players uses mic in pc, and I get what you mean. Last night, in Underground's Challenge mode 2 phase with 3 directives (FOW, WNWN, special force). matchmake there were two players 197 and 211 GS. Normally they get removed immediately but the lead didn't do that.
The lead and I have mic we could communicate the where about of shotgunners and enemies flanking. First encounter I knew these are smart and experienced players. They stayed in cover ready themselves not firing the first shot. When I saw this I knew this matchmake team can do it.
Although they downed a lot but they were always down in cover and not far away so revive was easy. They also helped each other, and revived me smartly, like not rush to help and get shot dead when I downed at the front.
I am a tactician so It is nice to see when I move my smart cover forward players use them.
it took like 45 min to get through the mission but it was fun to game with players who use covers, their skills smartly. We spent a long time but it was ok because we complete missions without much trouble.
Then of course there are players with 245+ GS run and gun and die immediately by the first wave of shotgunners.
You're the type of guy I would really enjoy playing with. Although I can make my gear score go up to 245, my real gear score is 190-192 and because I'm mostly a solo player I grinded the hell out the game to get the best possible gear at my gear score. I have 450k toughness, 35k skill power and enough fireams to unlock brutal, deadly, destructive on 182 gear score weapons (because brutal is in third slot and deadly/destructive require less firearms to unlock) not to mention skilled wich is godlike in pve to spam survivor link. Then I play with 245-255 gear score assholes who think they're the best in the world and disrespect me and think I'm shit because they judge me by my gear score while I litteraly carry the whole fucking team through Lexington on heroic.
Bobby Joe Yes gear score really misleads. You know this, imagine a person slaps on different 268 pcs he can get with 229 gs weapons suddenly he is 252 or more.
But he is not optimized or without full suit skill.
So he could be 125k, 300k, 24k, doesn't unlock a thing, and his weapons are far from the perfect drop.
It was a pain last night in underground. 30% of players just keep going to the front and die there. We battled slowly forward and revived these players they did it all over again. I mean, what is the point of being dead most of the time and not playing? For a moment I thought.... are they trolling (but it can't be real right?).
If you have 450k tough and 35k skill that is a lot of investment in SP. Are you a tactitician?
I am at 137k 515k 31k tac. I went to grind the 4 horseman at the new incursion. There's a tutorial about that. It drops a lot of good things.
I tried Sentry, Reclaimer build, nice but I don't feel secure because my SP was 24k.

I find this funny for some reason. Basically the challenge is "So, people say that i's hard in the division to be just a lone wolf, antisocial guy that never talks or interacts with human beings online, despite the fact that you're meant to interact with players. I understand that people are dicks(and I have a lot of that experience in this game), but you have to also understand that players are your best allies on this game, because they're practically your only allies. Sure you'll get shot down in the dark zone, kicked for being a slightly low gear score, or having a teammate leave because they were too stupid to run out and get killed where they couldn't be revived. But people in this game will also carry you, they'll help you kill a boss in the dark zone, they'll run with you and hunt down rogue players, or rush out into the fray to revive you, even if they're the last man alive. I know this from experience, because not everyone is a walking tumor that excretes radiation to give others cancer. It does take time to find good people in this game where literally the mechanics are to be a dick and shoot a fellow in the back of the neck for a pair of pants, but this game does still have good people. Though in my experience that's .5% of the population, and the other 99.5% are the guys ganking me in the DZ, because I'm under geared and dumb enough to run that place solo. This was long, and idk why I wrote this but fuck it. And nice vid, Marco. I can't think of anyone else spending money to test something so random.
Mr. Phantom Good points. But I was shocked that my early try at DZ at level 15 actually turned up getting pulled into a team of 3 others and got me to DZ level 9 first group run out. Sure, my first checkpoint entrance was a death by rogue. Also, our team never managed to extract our gear but being able to gain some xp and run into players who didn't want to kill me was a huge surprise to me having read all about how DZ is one big gank fest.

Much of what you say is true but sometimes you just want to go it alone. You just want to play the game and enjoy taking on npc's and collecting loot. You get a greater sense of accomplishment when you make it on your own. Don't get me wrong, the incursion's were meant for team play "I get that". West side pier was only put in to pacify players not for any real meaning. It's like wanting Burger King, but going to an alternative burger joint. I've even been on teams where the guys turned on me while waiting for the chopper in the DZ, these are the things that make you say screw it I'll go it alone.

This is basically how I played (on PS4) before... except I was kicked from EVERY group for not having a good enough gear score, Falcon Lost was new and I only braved the DZ for the Daily and Weekly assignments.
They have made things significantly easier since then. I leveled a new character and geared it past my old main in less time played.
I got the game two days ago. I've never played a game with a nicer community then this. I got to level 15 alone and met some kid with 290 gs, he brought me along for a ride over the course of a day, got to level 30 in a ridiculous amount of time. After every run of a event everyone dropped everything it was beautiful. I have 3 days on this game in total still clueless on a lot of things with 280gs xD. A full nomad set, the house and a warlord one of the guys gave me. I cant thank these people enough.

1. you have another account and are trying to prove something. so keep spamming groups until they don't kick you would work for you cos your goal is to prove others wrong. New players don't think like that at all. They basically get kicked 4 or 4 times in a row and basically they get very discouraged. you are miss understanding they way people approach the game when they are not trying to prove something like you and are just trying to enjoy themselves. Do you think getting kicked constantly is fun. your goal is to get loot but a player wants to contribute cos contributing is fun. I mean your just in a different mentality than new players. you are aware some people won't kick you whereas new players lose hope a lot quicker, you know your good and have built confidence in the game where as new players have not. This video proves nothing.

WHEN did you play the game entirely solo? neraly 18 months ago, when this video here was released? or in the last few weeks? back in 2016 the gear grinding was a whole different experience compared to the game now...
now you can easily farm solo up to 280/290+. i got to lvl 30 last week and after a few hours of playing my character is now at a GS of 260...
Look keep telling NEW players who don't know the game and can't get past the first few parts simply cos it's too hard for them. Tell them to get good like a legendary player like you. Let's see how long the game you took so much time to get good at (and probably spent alot of time and money on) lasts >;)

Yup, the added stagger is worth gold for stopping rushers, and damage is also pretty decent.
I was one of the lucky few who got carried by a three man team (who are good friends now) from 108 GS to a max score with decent gear in two hours.
The solo player has it tougher than most everyone, but going through that I try to carry other three man squads of lvl 27 players just so they don't have to go through the days of fruitless grinding to pass a mission.
As a solo player on TD, I got to Gear Score 260 something (right now) without any problems. Just complete the campaign missions and ALL the side missions and you’ll get there eventually. Go in the DZ from time to time for some loot when you have the guns to fight the NPC’s in there and you’re pretty much all set tbh..

I just stopped playing. The pvp is the saddest thing I have ever seen and the combat realism is is utterly pathetic. This is just my opinion, but I believe this game has failed. Hopefully the second one will be much better.
I've solo'd division 1&2 mix between normal, hard and heroic, max gear score on 1 and SHD level 22 on 2, loving it so far
People say that it's hard to gear up solo?? Like I've been solo since the game came out. I only get a team for Incursions and maybe the DZ every once in a while. Now I'm in a clan and I still go solo more often than being with my clan mates. Keep up the amazing vids Marco!

Well Marco I've spent most of my time in The Division ( PS4 ) Playing Solo honestly I have 280 hours in the game and the first 100 hours I didn't know how to gear up and then it took me 130 more hours to reach the max gear score playing solo, and another 50 hours rn to reach 280GS and I'm still farming stuff to get all of the Classified Gear Sets and make a D3-FNC Tank on 291GS but DAMN that takes SO MUCH Fcking time when playing SOLO :D Like FML seriously :D

I have been grinding with my buddies up to lvl 15 not because I don’t know how to progress properly but rather because we’re trying to have fun. They are new and I’m somewhat of a vet(I started playing on 1.6 but not religiously and it was on my Xbox) so I’m trying to get them to enjoy the game as much as I did back then. It is working so far and I gotta say the end game is either gonna suck or be tons of fun with them.
im probably one of the few who actually enjoyed this. i didnt mind losing over and over again, it felt great when i finally completed these missions. i also never played in a 4 man or did match making. it was always a buddy of mine and eventually we got through all of it in a 2 man squad. we also took forever to enter the DZ so not having the greatest items didnt influence me too much. it was after the DZ that i really wanted the god roll items. either way i love the division and the DZ for what it is. i like the unknown and i like having the option to kill who i want and not know who will kill me.
Brilliant. Also in the news, I find it really baffling when people say it is impossible to get to endgame solo. Whenever I do boss runs I give a shoutout and see if anyone needs items which makes the bosses and adds somewhat of a challenge (maybe not the right word, more like "not boring") and adds people to the endgame. AND I'm a solo player who missed both events and has 280ish gear score still...

Well let me remind you that this game may not require you to play with other people but people have stuff to do other than play this game, so in a sense gearing up solo is a major challenge
I've just got to the endgame solo on my first playthrough. I took my time with the campaign, doing all the side missions and activities, whilst also exploring Manhattan. It took me about 35 hours to hit level 30 and that was before I'd completed the main story missions. Because I didn't grab all the intel and only picked up what I stumbled across I'm going around the map now collecting it all. That, plus chewing through all the named enemies as I go, is giving me a shitload of gear from Field Proficiency Caches and drops. Every 4 bits of intel is a new FPC.
That's exactly how i intend to play as well, Clive. Just bought TD today and it's downloading for next 47 years, then SOLO ROMP! yeah right.... i'm like...Mr. Non-Tactical Guy ...no stealth...can barely work a keyboard. Controllers look like little spaceships. Scary ones. Leaves the mouse. That think keeps slipping off the pad so gonna roll with Voice Recognition i guess. If i had a tongue. Lol.. See ya online!

this why is its good to always be nice in online games, you never know what other people circumstances are. if it fails because of one person who is clearly trying but clearly is undergeared or skill issue. its 100% fine. thats good karma right there.
Nice video as always!! I had a different experience weeks ago: 2 friends of mine had the game but never played it. So I delete one of my characters and start to play with them, but not carrying them. I let them carry the game, decide stuff by themselves. This is the true fun on it. They never played it because they thought it was boring and this because people were carrying them. Like me they are married and we had like ~2 hours every other day to play it. We were not in a rush. The hole campaing was really fun and the whole progress was great to help them to understand how to set up their character and what each number stats means (stats everywhere!!!). After level 30 we keep doing the side missions to clear the map and help with the gear. I was always telling them: after level 30 it will become another game! And it is true. Now we are doing some incursions, intel, underground, etc... they feel like there is SO much content to play and we barely went to darkzone. Not at level 30. And it is fun to max out together like this. This is what games are about, right? Having fun with your friends. Having fun by yourself is called masturbation... just kidding. But it is like you said: it is really hard to progress to 256 just by yourself. But it is like WoW I guess. Bigger challenges need more man power. Cheers .. oh, and they are loving the game! :)
As a solo player of Division, I can attest to the whole matchmaking thing. If it's one person, high chance of them leaving. Multiple people gives a high chance of helping.
Also, I've found that gear score only matters in things like Incursions to some people. Most are just trying to get through it.
I often drop things I would dismantle in hopes that it'll be useful for someone else. If no one else grabs them, I'll pick up whatever items are left and get the materials out of it.
I played the whole game from 0lvl to 260GS solo.
And here's the tip.
Once you've reached 30lvl - just change your "global thing"(I have a different game language, so yeah) to zero(or 1, I can't remember correctly) and farm some items just from the mobs(npcs).
To sum it up, console, offline, fixed game, its not impossible. I'd know from experience, so iv gotta say, love this video entirely!
Never had a problem gearing up as a solo player and I never run raids either XD just takes dedication.
It's been exactly three weeks since I started playing the game for the first time, I've already played Division 2 and I wanted to see what the first game was like. I currently have 9/12 completed shields, all legendary missions done, three full classified gear sets and all exotics in the game.
I remember going to the dark zone A LOT in the level range of 10 to 30, and I went there always quite skeptical because pvp isn't my thing so I wanted to avoid other agents as much as possible. The DZ in pretty much any level that's not 30, is quite barren of people, I must've ran into other players about five times in total, and they were always minding their business so I didn't had to risk my loot or anything against other players and farmed quite a number of very useful items there. I also completed all activities and secondary missions in an area before moving on to the next one so that I could get as much XP as possible and level up faster to get better gear
After that, I think I just kept playing on Challenging, then eventually moving to Legendary, and doing some Pier 93 farming, it was a bit tough but I ended up skipping very quickly over that range of "useless" gear that I'll end up replacing and land in the end game gear. Overall, I think the solo experience is very enjoyable, and also rewarding
Well I'll dispute or answer a few of those problems. Last couple of times I've been able to run with a group but I've also been able to watch and learn from them and play solo. It's about a balance my questions are for the challenging missions does that mean I'm going to have to face a wave of them. Also trying to look for the walkthroughs or videos for those players that have played those challenging missions you know. Overall I appreciate everyone sharing their walk through an interview on how to play the game it does help and it gives players ideas it's not one right answer.
The issue with every looter shooter, especially if you join the party late. I would like to play Div1, but playing days on end till I get to do something meaningful is not making this appealing at all.
As a solo player myself, I find it really hard to finish building classified gear and finding it as I think players here in asia are low and thats why I play the division alone
You present a very strong argument about the problem of early tier stuff being useless because it gets replaced in no time, so they skip it if they can, and your solution is a good one. I hope the developers see this.
Another easy way to level: doing world bosses. There's a map of there locations somewhere in imgur I think, and they always drop minimally golds at whatever the max WT is. There's probably about a dozen and a half of them, and with 2+ items each, it's really easy to do. Can do all of them within an hour or so once you know the route.
