This show is total shit compared to a show like Vikings. Terrible acting, and we know much more way cooler stuff about the Schlacht im Teuteburger Wald than this cheap shit Hercules remake even halfway gets into. What a disgrace.
This show is INCREDIBLE . GERMAN ,LATIN, ROMAN. every chapter is like a movie, they didn't hold anything back, no fillers, the ENDINGS are PERFECTION. AND THE CAST IS JUST A BUNCH OF BADASS ACTORS
Why didn't Laurence mention that he (and the whole Roman characters) had to practice Latin Language too? I was very impressed the first time I watched the Roman army coming to the village, and wow they really spoke Latin, thats the first time I watched Roman show with its own language, it must be very challenging for the actors to learn that. Love this series xx
The nose and hair. I think Arminius should have had fair hair. His younger brother, Flavus should have been blonde because the Name Flavus is Latin, meaning the yellow/blonde one.

I had a very bad habit of watching movies or shows while checking up my phones but for this show, I shut down my phone like I am in a movie theater. I feel amazed by how this movie is done excellently. For example, the usage of Latin in on key and the Roman equipment is overall correct. By the way, I thought Laurence Rupp is much older like 40-ish. I cannot believe he is only 33 years of age because his calmness and confidence strikes me as a perfect actor to act Germanicus or even Caeser.
A great show, and amazing to hear classical Latin on the screen. Took me back to my schooling days. I thought that they'd also try to use some old form of proto-German, rather than the modern tongue. But the intrigue was great leading up to the Teutoberg Forest battle, a battle that changed European, and possibly world history. And Jeanne Goursaud as Thusnelda is very easy on the eye.

Even though the story of Arminius is popular and worldwide known, the production really still made me think I wouldn't know the plot and yet they showed off exciting and cool scenes. Along with all the side stories, it was never boring for me. I hope this show puts a new step into the German film industry motivating other producers to make more stuff like this.

Great show! Just finished binge watching it in the original German and Latin. Had to read all the subtitles, but it was that much more intense and enjoyable!
Love the 6 series. I was glued upto the end. Waiting for the 2nd season. Never understand the languages german and latin but happy for hearing them using these languages. It makes them more convincing. I watched this with the english subtitle though. Love you laurence rupp!

unbelievable series. One of the most significant battles in history that changed the course of history. There would be no Anglo Saxon world, British empire, USA, modern India, English speaking world, protestant religion and whole lot of events associated with modern European and world history without this battle at Teutoberg Forest.
I LOVED THIS SHOW. I think the pacing was off and some plot points didn't make sense, which makes me sad because I think they need those things to make the show big. But the actors are all fantastic and have great chemistry, and the premise is wonderful. Some of the visuals are just beautiful, too. I really hope this show picks up, my Game of Thrones-loving heart needs another epic drama with some fantasy elements. I don't care if they get supernatural and give Thusnelda fortune-telling powers, I just want more of these characters.
The most important thing about this show is that it's historically more or less accurate, at least in terms of equipment. So PLEASE, GOD, NO. NO! GOD! Thusneldas character in itself is fantasy enough, to be honest.

I loved the costumes the makeup the effect. And that actors were picked that actually looked roman and germanic. U fooled me good i really thought armenius was a roman. Until he told of his german soldiers in german. The horseriding the fighting. The different themes from love to action horror comedian ok i admit i just liked everything. Filling thw void after game of thrones and some of my other fave shows ended or arent coming for another 4 years. Due to corona.
They did such a good job on the historical accuracy of most things in the show, The battle scene was not accurate at all to what happened historically but apart from that, it was a great season!
I saw this movie from the beginning to the end, I watched it almost all day because it was pieces and I honestly admit that I liked it very much and the ending of the movie was amazing, the actors were all wonderful and this girl was very beautiful and all of them well done this movie deserves an award. well the best latin spoken in the serie honestly is from the italian actors, because all the romans except for Arminius are played by italian actors because italian is the most close romance language to latin, the grammar (syntax) and the pronunciation. Actually the most close to latin of all the languages in the world, that’s why they choose italian actors! For us italians spoken latin is very easy to understand and to pronounce, because the phonology is similar to italian and the grammar as i said, even tho written latin is difficult but in fact in every italian school we study latin and sometimes also ancient greek! But anyway, even italians who didn’t study latin can easily understand latin in comparison to other nationalities
more shows like this one Netflix, show the world there are still companies making quality TV series... I liked it a lot, especially the attention to historical details, language etc.. of course not everything is accurate, but its really well done.
I loved this show. I honestly didn't think I would because of the language and closed caption but it did not bother me at all I loved these characters, the plot I loved everything. I really hope there will be a season 3 & 4 & 5 lol
I loved the show. It was a good mix of factual history with dashes of fiction to help tell the story. I thought the balance was very good. Definitely worth 4-5 hours of your life to watch.

@@Ulfberth he defeated arminus on 3 separate occasions and yes he did break the alliance. Arminus was killed by his own tribes men after they believed he was trying to be a king. He would've conquered germania but tiberius recalled him because he believed it was not a worthy province to hold. There was no large scale against rome for the next 200 years because there strategy was divide and conquer. Germanicus was one of the best general's of he early empire and he lived longed enough I believe the germanic threat over. You said "poor and distress" that was on 1 occasion which he restored the unity and confidence of his soldiers. Due to this he scored many victories.

more shows like this one Netflix, show the world there are still companies making quality TV series... I liked it a lot, especially the attention to historical details, language etc.. of course not everything is accurate, but its really well done.
Yeah Netflix used to make shows like this consistently. Then they just started going quantity over quality

They did cast an italien to play Varus so far I know. I liked that they got an italien actor for the role of Varus

I loved the show. It was a good mix of factual history with dashes of fiction to help tell the story. I thought the balance was very good. Definitely worth 4-5 hours of your life to watch.

the witcher, the killing, last kingdom, altered carbon season 1... theres a few good ones lol. This show is ok but it could have been wayyyy better. The story itself is one of the more amazing ones in history so it's hard to make it bad

@@Ulfberth not really he restored the honor of the empire and due to his campaign the Germans never launched a campaign against rome for 200 years only reason why they began to attack is because they were getting pushed out of their land
If they make a season 2 of barbarians, germanicus is prob going to be the "enemy".

@@Ulfberth he defeated arminus on 3 separate occasions and yes he did break the alliance. Arminus was killed by his own tribes men after they believed he was trying to be a king. He would've conquered germania but tiberius recalled him because he believed it was not a worthy province to hold. There was no large scale against rome for the next 200 years because there strategy was divide and conquer. Germanicus was one of the best general's of he early empire and he lived longed enough I believe the germanic threat over. You said "poor and distress" that was on 1 occasion which he restored the unity and confidence of his soldiers. Due to this he scored many victories.
