- This run was done on PC on Patch 1 (the day 1 patch). Many of the useful glitches that make this speedrun possible are patched out as of Patch 3 (Patch 1 or 2 should both work). For info on reverting patches, visit speedrun.com/dainq
This run definitely has some ugly parts, but it reached my goal time for Nightmare difficulty.

Here's a little tip I discovered to speed things up a bit, if you turn your camera away from the direction you want to go when summoning your mount it'll spawn in front of you. Your mount always spawns behind the camera at the time of the button press. I'm already used to flicking it back and forth every time on PS4, it must be much quicker and easier on PC. I can't imagine how many seconds it'd save in a 2+ hour speedrun like this.
Bonus tip: if you ever get stuck somewhere (in a crack or body blocked by team members) just switch to a character in a favourable location and use them, the AI will either eventually get out or be teleported out, after which you can switch back if you want. Don't forget you can talk to anyone and do any action as any character.
Nice run, Letterswords! You certainly managed to bring down my 3:43 by a lot! Didn't figure it was that badly optimized.
+Kevin Johansson you played it too safe, plus were using some old strats even compared to what casual difficulty is like now which already saved a big chunk of time. I was honestly even thinking about cutting fade-touched obsidian out as well, but I figured the extra minute I waste there (I would still want to go a bit of ways into the dragon area to get obsidian since the only forage spots for it in the hinterlands are there) was worth the amount saving me from the headaches I'd have without it in the second half of the game. But yeah your run still gave me a lot of good ideas on how to adjust my casual difficulty strats for nightmare.
+Letterswords I'll have to watch it more in-depth and get up-to-date on the current run; seems like a more interesting speedrun nowadays.

So the choices here are just faster? the whole deal with the templars and such.
I want to complete the game in the nightmare !!! Is it worth me to face the enemies or pass straight through just like you did in some parts? thank for video! (I do not intend to do speedrun)
Truth be told outside of the Mage Tleport ability i would think Archer/Rouge would do well basicly becouse of Stealth and Warrior wouldnt be to bad with Charge but not as useful and would be the worst in due to speedrunning ... even tho in a normal playthough i have to argue Warriors as possibly one of the best classes considering they can both tank AND provide DPS at the same time.
Do you think that speedrunning this as a rogue would be efficient?
rogue would probably be the second best class. not sure how much slower.
Hey man, amazing play Through! I just saw Kevin's playthrouh, and I couldn't believe you were able to beat his run. Could you explain to me how you didn't manage to die so many times throughout the game? And how were you able to challenge corypheus at a low level?
+Farian The Furious Uhh, I played a lot of the more dangerous parts super safe (stealthing past lots of enemies). Most everything else was just knowing good combat strats, having 3 barrier users and abusing the flask of fire + thousand cuts glitch to kill bosses before I ran out of potions. TBH the most difficult part is the Pride Demon fight at the beginning of the game, I probably get past that without dying maybe 10%-20% of the time. As far as Corypheus, it really isn't a hard fight at all; it is very easy to dodge all his attacks as Sera and you can stealth for pretty long periods to avoid damage while you are waiting on cooldowns.

Nope, but the strategies I use probably wouldn't be that good for you because my run is on an old patch before they made all the big ability changes in trespasser and before they patched out some glitches that my combat strategy abuses.

So considering Consoles and the Patches would Rouge be the best option for a half decent time on Console?
From what I understand, if you don't have a downloadable version of the game on console (i.e. you have a disc version), you can just delete all the data related to the game to get back to original patch (may also need to have console disconnected from internet so it doesn't just repatch it?). But yeah on current patch rogue is probably fine.
Shame I have only the digital copy, use to own it on disk but traded it in ages ago when the game was new and not my thing. Now its all i can play, thats why I'm here looking at these runs. Oh well i do need to do a Nightmare run still so ill see what i can do. Great video either way.

Mage with the stealth ring could do this much faster
i'd have to play on current patch to use stealth ring, and then i could no longer do almost all the glitches i do, which means i'd need to do actual quests and shit to get to level 6 influence so i can buy the rest of the power/influence i need from farris. highly unlikely that would be faster.

Following you run for fun. At the point where your duping your items too make gear. Does anyone still knows if this dupe method still works? Cause im not at skyhold yet.. and pre skyhold is a pain rn
Duping crafting materials no longer works. But duping items in the party chest does.
Nightmare difficulty in less than 3 hours? Always impressed by speedrunners but wow. Each of my playthroughs typically last around the 40-60 hour mark 😂
Would a speed run on console be slower just due to the interface?
biggest difference would be loading times probably, assuming you can find a way to delete all the patches (I believe people have told me this is possible, but I don't have a console so I can't test)
You can't unpatch on console if it's digital making it slower.
