    I am a Wyze fan and was an early orderer. I just got my Wyze vacuum today, so I can't really comment much. But, I wanted to say right away that I've never paid five hundred bucks for a Dyson and I've bought six of them during the past few years. Look for deals. The most I've paid is $250, which is still more than the Wyze, but the Dyson feel is much more sturdy than the Wyze. I will be using the Wyze rarely until they have a head that works on hardwood floors and Luxury Vinyl flooring. The head provided by Wyze SHOULD NOT be used on that flooring. In fact, that head may invalidate the vinyl warranty, so you might want to check that out with your flooring before using it. I do have some carpet on stairways, so I'll try the Wyze on that. The Wyze filter is also a downer. That'll be an expensive item as time goes on based on my Dyson experience. Anyway, I'll check back after trying the Wyze, but I wanted to get the price thing out of the way. Thanks for the review.

      Thanks for the heads up on the flooring. Hopefully Wyze will come out with a special brush head for that. But in their website, they do show them vacuuming on Tile, Hardwood and what looks like a Laminate flooring, (or as much as I can tell from the pictures showcasing the LED lights)
      As for the pricing, the v11 was the one priced for the comparison, (and it sells for $599-699 depending on which model you get Torque Drive or Oversized). So I understand sale prices like mileage will vary. LOL
      My mother has a Dyson as does my mother-in-law, so that's what I used for the head-to-head I did. My mother-in-law has the v6 standard, (which sells for $250-299), and my mothers has the v10 Animal that's ($499-$549) from Dyson, (though they just stopped selling it to make way for the v11 that came out. But Google shopping still shows the pricing within that range.
      At any rate though, for carpet vacuuming, the Wyze was a better deal for me, and based on your experience, I'd have to buy at least 2 Wyze vacuums to equal the cost of your 1 Dyson, (4 to equal my moms). But I do agree, that if flooring is an issue with the current brush head, (and I'm not sure it is because I don't know enough about such things, but if it is) then they need to make a soft brush head for hard wood or vinyl flooring. Since the head is removable, it would also be swap-able, (if that's a word). LOL

      I've said that before the the Dyson is more sturdy, it's about the quality of the plastic used to make the vacuum. The only way Wyze could keep the price down was by compromising on the plastic. I would have paid a little more is Wyze used a longer lasting battery and larger dust bin and of course a better carpet attachment.

      @@SmarthomeRiggs I keep an eye out for
      Dyson deals. I've also bought a couple of refurbished ones at $150 and both worked great. I saw some extensive conversations regarding the head units on flooring websites, then checked with a neighbor who owns a flooring store to confirm what I had read. After I posted this I used the Wyze on an old kitchen flooring and it definitely scratched it. The Dyson head is called a fluffy and it is engineered like it sounds. The wall mount is installed with (2) screws, and holds the crevasse tool and 2-in-one tool, (leaving the extension rod on the vacuum itself) and the power cord runs through the back, so when docked, you can plug it in, (or you can plug in an extra battery, while vacuum is in use). I plan on making a follow-up video, after I've had a few months to use the vacuum. I will make sure I include the wall dock, as part of that follow-up. Good suggestion. • @SmarthomeRiggs

      That's a good question. The Dust cup volume is 0.7 L which is about the same as the Dyson we tested, and others in this class. But the rubber gasket on the trap door on the bottom of the canister should be monitored when emptying, as some people have been known to have theirs fall out when emptying it.

    Just saw the Toppin stick vacuum on Amazon and it looks almost identical to the Wyze cordless vacuum, they may even share some of the same parts. So who copied who?

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just took a look at that. Toppin has 4-LED lights, not 6, and the Toppin is 12,000 Pa, (vs the Wyze which is 24,000 Pa) so the Wyze is twice as powerful. Toppin also has no "quick release trigger" for the bin, and the battery is completely different (no LED screen to tell you the percentage of charge, and doesn't last as long).
      So I'd say Toppin is copying Wyze, (and not well). But if someone wanted to save $49 for a lot less features, it may not be a bad option (as it's right in the $100 price-point).
      They do have a flexible hose Wyze doesn't offer, but the mini brush head, fold-able extension rod are only on the Wyze offering. But as for the the crevasse tool, and the 2-in-1 end with brush, those are pretty standard attachments (Dyson, Hoover, Bissell and Shark have these as well as Wyze). But they do look like similar styles, (all copying the Dyson type setup).
      Don't let the look fool you though, look at the specs and the value each brings. Wyze Still Wins!!! But thanks for the comment as always.

    Can the brush be turned off for vacuuming hardwood or linoleum?
    Or would you just leave the brushes on anyways?

      The brush tool is on while in use. There's no switch that I found. And I don't have any shag carpet, but I did have a thick pile carpet, and it did well on that. There is a cut line on the brush head, when removed, so if long hair, or carpet get wrapped around, you can use a razor blade and use the cut line to more easily free it. That's something I haven't seen on a lot of vacuums before. Hope that helps. Thanks so much for taking the time, to watch our video and leave us a comment. We really appreciate it. No, there is no carpet height or floor adjustment settings. This is a bare bones vacuum, hence the low price point. But I haven't had an issue vacuuming Pergo flooring with the brushing spinning. I can't really vacuum floor mats though without it sucking them up. I wouldn't use this product as your main vacuum cleaner, it's more of a quick and easy to use secondary vacuum for spot cleaning.

    You said the Wyze has 4 attachments, mine only has 3. The carpet brush is cheap, the battery doesn't last long enough even on the low setting. They used low quality plastic and it will crack probably within a year. You acted surprised that the battery had a little charge. You do realized that it's bad for Lithium Ion batteries to not be charged. They prefer to be at 50% and not to be stored at 100% or that will shorten their life. And those 6 LED lights just waste battery power. You can't judge a product based only on the specs, because those can be deceiving and not preform in real life conditions. The run time is terrible on this vacuum! Eco mode doesn't clean well enough, and the standard mode doesn't give you enough cleaning time. And then there is the Turbo mode, which cleans great but burns through the battery in 10 minutes. Then you have to wait 4-5 hours while charging the battery....come on!

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Where to start…? LOL
      First, I don’t work for Wyze, I’m just a fan, but let me see if I can address your many concerns. I guess I’ll start by point out that while jumping to conclusions, you may have missed counting the actual pieces in your box. The long aluminum rod, (which is the 4th attachment) is included in every box. If you didn’t get your extension for some reason, I’d reach out to Wyze immediately. But that 4th attachment is what makes the other 3 vacuum heads either handheld, or floor length, (for reaching corners, or working in your car, etc.) That’s why I said 4 attachments and not 4 vacuum ends. But to be clear, (1) Brush head, (2) Crevasse tool, (3) 2-1 tool and (4) Aluminum rod extender, all “attach” to the vacuum, so that’s 4 attachments.
      You seem to be concerned with the Brush tool, but it’s neither cheap nor “made of low-quality plastic… that will probably crack within a year.”. Not sure what conditions you use your vacuum under, (but they are not designed to stand on the plastic pieces when in use) and under normal vacuuming conditions this will last for years to come. The brush head is quite nice, with a separate motor that pulls anything I’ve thrown at it up. As for the sturdy plastic housing “… will probably crack within a year”. Why not give it a year of normal vacuuming and let’s find out together, as it feels a lot sturdier than the Dyson.
      As for the battery, I was surprised it had a 24% charge, because the Dyson didn’t have a charge at all when it arrived, and took 4-5 hours to charge, (the same as the Wyze incidentally) so that’s… you know… the industry standard for a cordless vacuum battery to charge. But unlike the Dyson, (which has a sealed battery and requires you to stop vacuuming while you charge) the Wyze has replaceable batteries, so you can switch them out and continue vacuuming while you charge the dead battery, (like I pointed out in my video). And the battery lasts just as long, as they said it would. I pitted the Wyze head-to-head against the Dyson, (something I’m guessing you didn’t do before your comment, or you would’ve found similar results). As for the LED lights, these take very little to power, (if you don’t know about LEDs, you should google it, as they barely draw current for those 6 little ones).
      You are correct, that you can’t judge a product by a spec sheet alone, (which is why I didn’t). Instead, I put it head-to-head against a Dyson to do my comparison. The Run time is exactly as Wyze advertised, and compares to the Dyson, (which has had no trouble selling since it was brought to market years ago) and the fact that the Wyze meets Dyson and exceeds in many categories, for a fraction of the cost, makes it an even better value in my opinion. Eco mode worked fine for most of the jobs I threw at it and lasted almost an hour while doing so.
      It is true, (to your point) that the Standard mode didn’t last long enough. 20-mins vs the Dyson’s 40-mins is not as good as I would’ve liked. But that’s also something that I clearly mentioned and highlighted in my comparison, so that’s just an example of you agreeing with me in my video. The Turbo mode I only needed to use for deep-cleaning needs that I found, (dirt in the carpet, but not daily cleaning) and even then, it lasted a full 10-mins, (which may not be enough for you, but that’s 2-mins longer than the $500 Dyson) so it exceeds “industry standards”.
      Dyson, also takes 4-5 hours to charge, but the whole vacuum is down while you charge it, while with the Wyze, you can charge the battery while you continue with another battery, (assuming with the cost savings over the Dyson, you buy an extra battery, and don’t just expect the vacuum to exceed the specs they told you that you would get, before you pre-ordered it). Once again though, the charge time of 4-5 hours, was clearly listed on the site, on the box, and in the manual, long before I mentioned it in my video. So, I’m not sure why you are acting surprised about that…. Come On!!!
      Despite your misguided concern, I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video, and I also appreciate the time you took to leave your comment. So even though I disagree with almost every word you said. I do appreciate you taking the time to say it, because it gives our viewers an opportunity to see point-for-point just how your opinion and mine seem to differ. But I hope you subscribe to our channel, because I look forward to hearing from you again in a future video. @@SmarthomeRiggs Wyze doesn't count the tube as an accessory, and neither did I because it's that how the vacuum is in it's normal state of use.
      The carpet brush tool is cheap, take it out of the housing you can see that for yourself. The plastic is too hard and thin, it will crack. There are also too many small plastic connection tabs and if quality pliable plastic isn't used, they will crack off too.
      The battery arriving in the 20% range is not good for Lithium Ion batteries, they prefer to be stored at 50%. Any company that ships a battery with a charge of less than that is causing the pack to degrade sooner than it needs to because you don't know how long it will sit on the shelf or be in shipping. Lithium Ion batteries also degrade when stored at 100%. Charging to 100% is not an issue if it's used right away. Battery health is important for this product as we don't know if Wyze will continue to sell replacement battery packs. However, you could buy a bunch of spares, charge them to 50% and store them away. I wouldn't rotate then for use, because they have a limited number of charging cycles.
      And while the LED's don't use that much power, every bit counts when a product relies on a battery pack. I wish Wyze went with a larger battery pack for a longer run time. But I understand they had to make a decision with regards to price over function. Maybe they could offer a longer lasting pack as an accessory purchase.
      I will say this, I find this vacuum easy to operate almost fun to use. It's light and easy to manipulate, but I have found that the filter gets dirty quickly and all the but the HEPA is easy to clean with a rinse. And while the HEPA can be rinsed, then you have to wait for it to dry before putting it back in the vacuum or mold will grow. So this means we need to purchase a lot more HEPA filters, which kind of negates the point of having a bagless vacuum. Instead of buying new bags all the time we now have to buy HEPA filters all the time.
      I think I'd still use my corded vacuum as the main floor cleaner and use the Wyze for touch ups here and there, because it's quick and easy. So there, I like this vacuum a little more today than yesterday. I still don't think it's better than the Dyson, but it's way less expensive making it easier to afford for most people wanting this style of vacuum cleaner.

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please go back to Wyze.com and watch the Wyze video, (that's been on their site since they announced the Cordless Handheld Vacuum months ago) and you'll discover that they do in fact count the rod as the 4th attachment, likely because the Handheld Vacuum is by default, "Handheld". Therefore the 4th attachment, (the rod) is used with the other attachments to extend their use, (and I mean extend their "reach", not their "life", which should last for years despite your displeasure for the plastic they've selected).
      As for the HEPA filter, most of us who use HEPA filters know to allow them to fully dry before using, to avoid mold, (they put that in the instructions). Not sure that's news to anyone, but thanks for mentioning it, in case anyone didn't read it in the instructions.
