Even though I agree with the argument that a 3-peat is unlikely, I still don't agree with Smith's logic. His argument is that the chiefs looked "very human last year" and they only won 17-10 in the AFC championship game. But it's like...okay? The chiefs had a down year, had terrible wide receiver play, looked human all season and they STILL WON THE SUPER BOWL. That would make me feel more confident about this year than anything.

The times Mahomes didn’t make it to the Super Bowl, Dee Ford lined up a yard offsides and the defense couldn’t tackle Joe Burrow. His one Super Bowl loss was with all of his starting offensive lineman out and he hit a receiver in the face mask in the end zone while throwing pass when he was horizontal to the ground. That’s what it will take to keep the Chiefs from a 3peat.

I think the Chiefs poor season last year which still led to a SB win works in their favor for a 3peat. If they had been dominant two straight years, I think the pressure for no. 3 would be really tough. Now, there's less pressure. I think it's 60-40 they'll do it.

This is a team that's been to 6 straight AFC Championship Games, 4 Super Bowl appearances with 3 rings & earliest they've been beat is in OT of AFC title game. They are simply the gold standard organization right now with elite HC, elite QB, elite big game DC, elite DT, elite TE w better WR's this year supposedly and the best clutchest kicker in the league currently. Yes, there are four solid contenders for the conference championship and four to five (I'm including Dallas, but you know) super bowl contenders from the other conference that have an opportunity to keep the three-peat from happening, but this Chiefs team is better on paper than either of the two previous super bowl winners.
