I don't know what is wrong with my brain but, dagnabbit, I love watching the switch and relay rebuilds almost as much as the troubleshooting. Thanks, Trevor!
1. Wasted ages tapping the pcb for broken joints when he could have scoped it out in 5 mins. Inject audio signal and check waveform from input to output. 2. Who heats a switch with hot air when you could have just sprayed IPA on the switch and then put some silicone lube before closing. Anyway thanks for your time in making these videos 👍 PS: buy a few forceps, will be useful, cheers
Ah' the old days of diagnosis' dry joints scratchy pot's i now find myself changing none polarised SMD cap's that are 1.5x3.00 mm under a scope , how times have changed ............
Thanks for your time! Another interesting troubleshooting adventure; those slide/latch type switches don't seem to like oxidation, the unit just has assorted issues that your experience solves almost immediately. Another piece of equipment saved from the recycler!
This shows why it's important to test the unit for some time after repair. I also like to use it for a week before I send it of to it's owner. Great job.
I have a ta-f70. The almost top of the line from this series. It's my dream to get a ta-f80, but I'm not holding my breath. I also have a ta-f35, 45, and 55... I have a hard time resisting inexpensive awesome things. And nobody was looking for old sony 10 years ago.
Would you happen to know what bulb to buy to replace the aux indicator light. I just bought one of these amps and that’s its only flaw. It looks easy enough to replace, I just need specifics.
I have a similar problem with my Teac reel to reel. They used those light duty signal switches to switch the A.C. motors for the takeup and supply. Needless to say they didn't last to long.😢
Trev hello. Would you consider doing a throwback ultra long-form video next week? I like to have you on while I work on audio gear and the vids have been shorter lately.
Hello Trevor, greetings from San Ramon, CA. I just came across a TF-A60. After seeing you video on on it, I'm a little concerned about purchasing this model. Would you say it's a good unit overall? Is the sound worth the potential headache?
Hello Trevor. I’m working on a TA-F35 and someone before me bodged the heck out of it, so much that the relay cap was totally gone! Any chance you know the specs for it or know of a replacement? Thanks! First time watching your channel. Regards, David.
How high can you go in microfarads when replacing capacitors? I thought that you had to be exact as far as microfarads but you could go higher in voltage? If it is ok to go up in microfarads what is the percentage? anyone know? Thank you
I had exactly the same switch problem with a Sony TXA-3. I've also seen them for sale on eBay for spares and repair due to it. It's a really crap switch.

I profoundly enjoy these videos, even though I have absolutely no idea what’s happening.
I know nothing about electronics. It's fascinating seeing your methodical method and experience.
Great patience and attention to detail as usual . Well done!

Hi Trever, excellent work as usual with this content. Can You share Your list of "naughty" transistors and capacitors?
Thank You

Do we get loudness volume controls now a days?
Nah we just have loud. :)
