I completely agree with you on Violet's second signet. I was thinking distance weilding too and your explanation convinced me.
I'm glad I'm not alone!! When I read back through it just seemed to make the most sense.
I agree too.
@Kayleighs.library I think ur correct because if u re read chapter 52 they had the meeting with squad about ward stone she says she won't lie to xaden and will tell him when he gets back but yet that night she goes to sleep and has bad nightmare and all of a sudden she was in xadens arms then 6 days later he came back only thing I'm trying to figure out is Tairn be able to communicate if she did jump not unless it was a temporary jump and she came back and tairn woke because of it
I think either distance weilding or some kind of mind ability, like looking through someone elses eyes which happened multiple times
I have a theory that Liam was actually Andarna... they would not have know there was a 7th breed of dragon so the potion they were all forced would only have been formulated for the 6 known types... yes she was in the dreamless sleep but she's andarna she plays by her own rules. Violet never tried to reach for her knowing she was asleep but kept trying for Xaden and Tairn. Liam says "im exactly where I need to be" which is what andarna says at the battle.. I will be where I need to be... it may not have been a hallucination but it could have been a projection. Just a thought
Fascinating!
Woah cool thought! Side note I love LIAM and Andarnas story line in this book.
I completely agree with the Violet's second signet theory... and about Violet having some connection with gods, it really makes sense because there's no way that Xaden's soul could be saved in their world... the thing i'm most concerned about is the price she's going to pay when she makes the deal... Violet would give everything to save Xaden which also can mean staying in that world because of the deal she makes... I would also want to add one small detail at the beginning of Fourth Wing her mother says that if any of her children is capable to survive those 3 years it's Violet, which at the moment doesn't make any sense considering Violet's poor stength... if her mother was sure Violet's going to survive, maybe there was some kind of thing where her mother had to make a deal with Malek about her youngest daughter... I think your theories are on point, and I completely agree, I'm just not too sure about them living in the gods world in the end... I don't think they'll die either... but surely there will be a lot of death and wars to come, and I hope that Xaden takes over his province and becomes 'the king' of Tyrrendor.
OOOOOOOH Maybe Xaden is going to have to die and then be brought back to life??? Post venin. " You will be the death of me."
I think you’re right about Violet. I also think her “father” knew what was coming and left that “fable book” for her in order to warn her. I also believe there is another book that will lay out what she’s meant to do in the future. I believe her father had a signet of prophecy and he wanted her to become a scribe to protect her, while her mother knew that becoming a rider would protect their world.
I think your theory could have been true if Vi’s father was rider, bcs only riders can have signets. But he was a scribe, so he couldn’t have a signet. Though I think you are wright and Vi might find some other hints from him or his works etc
@@annsudarikova3173 I agree, her father can't have a signet. But maybe someone else had a prophecy, and he read about it and realized it was his daughter.
Jesinia is a scribe, so it makes sense if she is the one writing about what happened. That is part of her job, right? They write the history as it happens. They are also at war and moving from place to place, so maybe that's what it means that these are recovered journals, letters and books. Also, Violet speaks different languages; Jesinia is translating these to the common language.
Waw! At last I hear version about Vi’s 2nd signet that I feel like this is it! And also ALL your theories especially about silver hair are brilliat👏 I’m sad to hear that X and Vi might die at the end of the book, but I think Yarros R is such an author who wouldn’t write so openly about their death if there was no “but” in it. When X tells Vi he loves her he also says she is stuck with him in every other lives that will follow. I think there will be something like that❤❤❤
Excellent video. This is going to be a long year waiting for the next book, haha.
It really is! 😅
The way that Violet's second signet is distance wielder makes SO MUCH SENSE with Andarna's powers in Fourth Wing about briefly stoping the time!! Omg I love this theory! I'm with you on this one, girl
It will be interesting to see if we learn what really happened to Tairns previous rider. When the riders are in class and someone asks about Tairns previous rider, they said his signet was siphoning and he burned out trying to bring Brennon back from the dead. I think maybe he really did bring Brennon back, and died as a result. I think he siphoned from the ground, resurrected Brennan and became Venin, and either he is the ' venin general' that somehow had a hold on Xaden (which is only mentioned a few times) or Tairn had to kill him, which is why it was so hard on Tairn. Or perhaps, it never was Brennan, but Xaden who Tairns previous rider resurrected, and that's how the 2 seem to know each other, and why he had some sort of a hold on Xaden.
I feel like tarian would know this because we see that when Jack is Vernon, he's still bodened to his dragon.
i'm not a big reader but i picked up the audio books for a long drive and became obsessed. I'm sitting here giddy listening to your theories and am so excited at the idea of her having the distance signet. I'd kind of forgot it was mentioned and yeah the foreshadowing for it, assuming it's true, will feel so obvious after the reveal.
I’m at the part for the amplifier but wanted to comment that there was also the part towards the end with Ridoc in the ward chamber where he is still learning to get good with his signet but he was somehow able to form an ice wall to withstand the dragon fire being shot at them. This one and other mentioned parts make me lean towards her second signet being something about boosting other signets. But then again it really could be an extension of her first signet.
I absolutely love this!!! It's my first time watching a book discussion video and I just love it! I once read a theory about Violet's hair being silver because she can heal venin and return them to their previous human form and that she would eventually heal Xaden, but your theories make much more sense and are more thought out. I was debating whether to continue this series once the third book came out or just stop at Iron Flame because I didn't really care much for it (even though Fourth Wing is one of my all-time fav books), but now!! oh my god if your theories were to be true I think this series would be huge! Thank you for this video
I love your fast paced commentary. I think you are definitely on the right track. I have thought the exact same thing about several of your theories but mine were not nearly as thought out or coherent as you have described them. I’m digging the sweatshirt!! ❤
Thank you for the in-depth analysis! I can't wait for book 3 and I hope that Violet and Xander will finally improve their communication, especially with the new developments at the end of book 2.
so far your theory is the one i agree with the most they just make the most sense
Firstly, your hairs so beautiful! Secondly, gosh you really gave me a totally diff perspective on the grander scheme of the book. I really enjoyed your ideas, and I’m very much leaning to agree with your opinion! ❤️
Best thories analysis so far. Completely agree
Thank you! I'm excited to see how things play out in the next book 👀
I love your take! I want to hear more about your thoughts on Xayden and the venin... There is a theory that Violet's hair is silver at the end because she has been drained by venin before. Also potentially why she is so pale and her body is so frail. Perhaps her mom was drained while pregnant / fighting venin, and now is potentially immune to them.
I agree with the amplification being an extension of her first signet!
I agree with you about Violets second Signet 100000%! I might be remembering wrong but I think when they’re in the cave and Varrish dragon Solas (?) attacks them, I think she says something about being at one side of the cave, everything going dark and then being on the other … which was obviously a high stress situation AND Andarna was close by so it could make sense.
Again i agree that authors don’t just SAY things for a the sake of like everything is said for a reason and it talks about her being insanely fast soooooo often
I think Garrek is going to be the distance weilder and the foreshadowing was for him to set everything up. RY said in an interview that if she were stuck on a dessert island she would want to be stuck there with Gerrick and she wouldn’t need anything if he were there. I think it also explains why X was in her room that night where the timing dosnt make sense (she mentioned previously that X and G were leaving on a mission). I also think that the speed is part of the power thing previously mentioned, also it’s mentioned many people can do that with lesser magic. I think Vs second signet is truth saying. It’s also foreshadowed several times but my favorite time was “the only thing more terrifying than an intrinsic is a truth sayer but we let them live”
I just wanna know what Andarna is!!! Let’s go there!
I would agree on your theory about her second signet too but I missed all the signs before the final battle. My own conclusion starts from when Andarna smelling of sulphur before the last battle and then able to breathe fire during the fight which makes me think she is now a fully grown dragon where Violet can channel her power. I only look for clues after Andarna has grown.
I’m also convinced Violet is distance weirder too. Super excited for Onyx Storm ❤
Distance weirder hehehehehe
I agree that she is connected with Malek in some way. Here's another example: Liam went to her in her hallucination, saying Malek sent him out of kindness... Then she questioned why Malek would be kind to her... Rebecca says it was just a hallucination, so it doesn't have anything to do with her power, just that he was. Why else would Rebbeca/Liam say that?
Some great ideas here. Distance wielding I think is the best theory I've heard so far. I personally hope it doesn't go down the "gods" route but I can see where all the ideas are coming from.
I think the distance wielding is an after effect from Andarna. Garric is the distance wielder
ok here is my thoughts 1 remember when she said she saw her mom with red eyes i think her mom had been touched or something when before she gave birth to her because remember tara said to he i know who and WHAT you are silver one and then you go back to the 4 brothers and there was only 1 that could killed the vennon brother who got his power to the sky which most of you all would think well thats the lighting but it said she could bring it from the ground to so this comes to her 2nd one it she can channel her powers through the ground and sky but just like the vennon but she can do it through the sky or ground
On the theory of Xaden’s mom being Dune. When they were intimate and she said “oh gods” he said, which one are you referring to because it’s just us in this room. 👀
It would be interesting to consider that if Violet's second signet is distance weilding, maybe Andarna's original ability that she lends to Violet (stopping time) may not be stopping time at all? Rather, the time stopping was a component of distance weilding where time and space cease. Sort of considering the theory of distance weilding as being similar to teleportation or the ability to be in two places at once. I also love the idea of amplification being a component of Violet's signet from Tairn!
Just finished reading iron flame half an hour ago and love love love your theories ☺️
Loved your theories!
Thank you! I'm so glad!
Dang, I hasn't even considered distance wielding, but with time and speed I'm almost convinced.
I think the books are called the Empyrean series because that’s the name of the eldest dragons in the Vale
Yes, but perhaps the dragons themselves are gods or have a connection to the gods. With the word Empyrean meaning "relating to heaven" it seems like she chose that word as the name for the Dragons for a reason!
Does anyone else think Violet will discover she’s pregnant in the 3rd book?
She is always feeling nauseous and it reminded me of morning sickness.
Contraception was discussed in book 1 but accidents do happen.
Also, your Malek theory makes sense knowing Violet’s mom’s name was Lilith and maybe she was cast out for being soft.
I’m late to write because I only finished IF 2 hours ago.
Finally get to enjoy all these great videos. Thanks for the excellent analysis and theories.
Violet's 2nd signet is the ability to speak to the dead ones. I'm convince because of two things: 1st when she was being tortured in that room she saw Liam and talked to him and Liam said 'I'm exactly where I need to be' which is was Andarna has said a few times - which shows it's related to Andarna's magic and 2nd is that Violet's main desire is information and knowledge - but how can you get that if some of the books have either been changed or records not kept over the years the only way is to talk to the dead ones. that's the only way she can get information of what really happened 600+ years ago in order to save the whole continent again from venin
She was drugged during the interrogation, she couldn't use her signet. Also Rebecca talked about that scene here th-cam.com/video/S_Lm56IVaNw/w-d-xo.html in min 20:55, to me it sounds like a hallucination :/
I saw a theory about her second signet being a mirror. That would explain the throne scene, as well as why Cat got so furious during the time she Challenged Violet. Signets reflect the personality, and Violet is empathic to a fault!
Can you do a video on the Fourth Wing/Iron Flame nods to myths/fairytales from whichever cultures Yarros was inspired by? Because, the Silver Hair theory you gave in connection to the myth was so spot on! (We don't know exactly if this is true in Yarros' books, but .... Imagine if it were!! And YOU picked up on it!!!) So, wise one, please tell us more of what you know 😀
what if violet can control not just the sky but THE SKY (what flies in the sky) dragons, because she can talk to other bonded dragons but no one else can just talk to bonded dragons, and when she could see Liam when she was being totured, I think it was her seeing Liam as her weakness because we know the professor can see her weaknesses as his signet, SHE CAN SEE LIAM TOO.
That's a good thought!! I definitely think there is something unique about her relationship and interactions with the dragons.
I just found this video and your theories are amazing! I love the referral to RY interviews and book's scenes. However the cutting/ editing breaks in between was annoying wish you could record in one flow!
Also, Violet stopped time twice thanks to Andarna when she was attacked and when Liam almost died, allegedly because the dragon couldn't "channel" properly, so I think the signet HAS to do with time and space 100%. Andddddd maybe its reaching but I'm thinking that the other two riders that could "teleport" were chamaelon dragon riders as well, maybe even Andarna's parents and thats why this type of both dragon and signet is so so so rare.
I have a theory that maybe Sage could be Naolin since it "cost him everything" to bring Brennan back to life
I've seen a lot of people who think the same! I could see that as a possibility. Though it makes me curious about Naolin's and Tairn's bond and what happened there.
If Violet isn’t a distance wielder, I definitely think someone else is, maybe Orick?
Aaric?
@@palomitapalomita7866 Is that how it's spelled, lol? I listened to the audiobooks :)
Rebecca also said that Jack was dead and here we are, I don't think what she says in those interviews matters much to the actual plot
Great video 👏 Thank you!!
Thank you!! ❤️
I think Garrick is the distance wielder! Or can transport others! 2 scenes in fourth wing: one during war games xaden seems “far away” then shows up and Violet wonders where he went that he came back so fast. Second was when she went on the parapet to Xaden, and they walk off and she wonders where Garrick and Bodi disappeared to. Xaden plays it off but it’s clear he was hiding something. Also Rebecca said Garrick is who she would bring to a deserted island lol. The only downside to this theory is Caden has never lied to Violet so if Garrick is a distance wielder then he kind of lied to her? But I still think he transports things some how as his signet!
this was a great review... if her 2nd signet isn't distance wielding than it should be.
I think when violet was hallucinating liam it was not her signet because she basically got drugged but maybe its her connection to malek where she can talk to the dead? Or she realy was just losing her mind while being tortured.
I think it can't be a mind ability, mainly due to her losing her trust in 2 people because of they're mind signets. Dain and Xedan. And so her pain from those 2 abilities i feel is too strong for it to allow her to manifest such a signet.
After reading the part where violet opened the lock of the metal door with a knife during their RSC "interrogation" scenario, i thought its the hint of her 2nd signet. But i could be wrong. Cant wait for the onyx storm.
Wasn't that bc Xaden gave her a knife with an opening (in case of emergency) rune?
I was taking it as hyperbole that she was running the fastest she’s ever gone and everything cause of the high stress situations but who knows if she can have that control time element then she can make it seem like she’s going really fast but in reality just slowing everything else down and the extreme of that would make it seem like she teleported.
Yes! I think it will include something along the lines of teleportation, based on how the book said distance wielders can "cross hundreds of miles in a single step."
Will she need Tairn then to moove? Andarna can’t carry a rider, so if Vi is a distance wielder she doesn’t need a dragon to carry her from one place to another
@@annsudarikova3173 Tairn has to be with her, she's his human. He doesn't like it when she's away from him fighting. Maybe she could teleport for a short period of time, but for the most part I think they have to be together bc they're connected.
I think Sorrengail said Violet's all that was left of her father bc she is the only one of her kids that takes after him, not bc her father isn't her siblings' father.
Maybe, but it seems like an odd way to word that if that's the case!
I'm trying to find people that also ships Aaric and Cat, but I can't find anyone else 😭Guys, where are you? He is from the royal family that left her people outside of the proyections and wouldn't let them in or help them, she wanted a crown, that's why she hated Violet so much. I think it'd be really fun to see her develope true feelings for him, meanwhile he doesn't trust her intentions bc of her past actions, and bc she can manipulate emotions. Please tell me I'm not alone in this.
Ok. I agree with you that she has a connection with Malik so hear me out I got a theory from that theory. So we know that she hallucinated Liam. So I think that Violet hallucinating Liam had to do with her connection with Malik not her signet. If Malik was her father maybe he passed his connection to the dead to Violet. So in the torture scene her connection to the dead made Liam show up. If Malik is not her father then the deal with Lilith and Malik gave her that connection with the dead. So I agree that she has something to do with Malik and I really want it to be that Malik is her father because ✨Drama✨.
Sorry if this is a dumb question or if I missed this but why are we so sure violet has a second signet at all?
Because she has two dragons - one signet for each dragon! Also Rebecca Yarros has confirmed she has a second signet and uses it in Iron Flame. 😊
Great ideas!
I agree with everything except the gods theory.
May I ask what makes you think that's not a possibility? There's so many mentions of the Gods throughout both books, and even the name Empyrean means "relating to heaven." I'm curious what makes you think the gods won't be significant! I always love hearing others' thoughts and interpretations.
guys does iron flame have a photocard/bookmark just like fourth wing?
There's a 0% chance she will distance wield. RY has already said her second signet will be underwhelming and her being a distance wielder is the farthest it could possibly get from being underwhelming. The signet is very obviously either an amplifier that boosts the wards energy far beyond their normal range or she can simply transfer her own energy into other people. There's way too many instances of people wielding their signets far beyond it's capability with her there for it to be a coincidence. For me personally i think the more likely of the two is that she can transfer her own power directly into other people rather than her just being able to amplify power coming from the wardstone from very far distances.
I wouldn't say there's a 0% chance by any means! I think it was mentioned for a reason, and someone will certainly be a distance wielder. However, I made this video nearly a year ago - long before we had the blurb for Onyx Storm or more commentary on the matter from Rebecca Yarros. I am leaning away from distance wielder as her second signet now, also! I do still think the gods and particularly Malek will come into play, though. Either way, I'm excited to see! It's coming up soon 👀
You had me until the gods thing, I feel like there would have been fables mentioned about demigods or the gods walking among them if this was the direction the series was going.
I think she can manipulate gravity and then can fly on adana with it.
My thoughts the same. But what is weird and funny is that this series is getting dangerously similar to Blood and ash series hahahaah
I really don't want Violet to be a daughter of Malek, or to have any type of connection with the dead. Pls
tbh the last part of the video was giving PJO
Perhaps she took inspiration from it! Though many books have similar themes.
❤❤
Nooooooooo
You may be on to something! My only hesitation is that when the blurb about truth sayers happened in Iron Flame, the next chapter introduced us to a truth sayer. But I'm not ruling it out! This video was made nearly a year ago, and I'll admit that after reading Onyx Storm's blurb I'm less sold on distance wielding as her signet. The thought about it being Garrick's could definitely add up! It makes me wonder what's in store for his character though and why Rebecca Yarros would make him significantly powerful 👀
@ I think that we saw a version of a truth signet, but she is never called a truth sayer outright. V tries to call a Griffon rider a truth-sayer and he explained that he can tell when someone is lying, but I think the distinction is important. I like the mythos version of truth sayer that speak truths into existence for V. That would make the compulsion and the precognition hints make sense. Excited for real answers soon though!
