- The traditional song of the American War of Independance, Yankee Doodle, played on fife and drum.
Yankee Doodle went to town
A-riding on a pony,
Stuck a feather in his cap
And called it macaroni.
[Chorus]
Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle dandy,
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.
Father and I went down to camp,
Along with Captain Gooding,[a]
And there we saw the men and boys
As thick as hasty pudding.
[Chorus]
And there we saw a thousand men
As rich as Squire David,
And what they wasted every day,
I wish it could be savèd.
Four ruffians break into my house
"What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle.
From "Doodle" came the word "dude". It's had a long interesting history. First it was "Dudel", 18th-century German and British slang meaning "worthless fellow", first used in the French and Indian War in a mid 18th century ditty about low class raw military recruits from New England in Canada who rode small horses and imitated "macaroni" upper class fashions by putting a feather in their cap. Then a generation later during the American Revolutionary War, it got new lyrics and became the proud patriotic song we've all heard. In the 19th century it was shortened to "dood" and respelled as "dude", likely to imitate the word "duke". It was used of lower class urbanites dressing up to imitate the upper class, and city slickers visiting western "dude" ranches. Then it changed meanings during the 19th to 20th centuries as slang, then colloquial for "young man" and a term of address from one to another.
I've learned something new and very interesting today. Thank you, sir!
This song was originally made to mock the Americans and this song was by a British person
@@Iheartredfourtyyes then when the Americans won they played it back
It's an old-fashioned word in German still, but sometimes still in use. 'Dödel'.
god bless USA THANK YOU
Hi, I'm Saul Goodman. Did you that know you have rights? Constitution says you do. And so do. I believe that until proven guilty, every man, woman, and child in this country is innocent. And that's why I fight for you, Albuquerque!

Excellent. Now update it by a 150 years -- add "Yankee Doodle Dandy", and "Grand Old Flag", by George M. Cohan. The greatest flag-waver of all time.
