Thank you for this! Marichyasana A and B are two of my favourites. The hip area is a problem area for me, so that might be why I like them so much, lol. I can almost get my left leg into a high enough position, not so much with the right leg. I'm very tight in that hip, in part due to knee problems including having surgery years ago. So I might never reach half lotus on that side, and I'm almost ok with that now. Interesting tips with the modification! While I usually don't feel too much in that position, I haven't tried leaning forward in it yet. So maybe that one will be more noticeable! Funny how the body works, isn't it? Some things you hardly feel at all, but a small modification and the flute gets a very different tune! 😂
Truly appreciate the tips for the ankle and arm positioning as perhaps these are two things which make the pose more uncomfortable for me ... i.e. want to get out of it ASAP lol.. primarily due to ankle discomfort.
Thanks so much for this, one question though. when half padamasan attempted, and knee not on the ground, is that a deal breaker?? Should I continue progressing with it or switch to flamingo?
Your vids are awesome! I have a question from the drum beat vid. The drum beat is good in learning to knowing how much breathing and where it is in relation to moving/ posturing. As a beginner I'm struggling with keeping up...having to slow down, skip a movement to catch breath/ recover, or hold say up dog longer before going into down dog with 5 breaths. I understand that that is where I am and time in practice will bring improvements. Is there a way to methodically add extra breaths/pauses/or slow downs to optimize improving but not sacrificing Asthanga purpose of movement/ breath? Or is it just messy until strength and endurance are built up?
Dear D&J: Can you talk a bit about getting the head to ground in Marichyasana B? (I can get into half lotus and bind easily, but the head-to-the-ground action usually eludes me. There have been a couple of times when I’ve been able to do it w/ great ease, and then the very next day it’s like it never happened and I’m back to dangling awkwardly in the air.) For me, I think it’s mostly about my technique, not flexibility or strength. Any tips?
I looove marychasana but I torn my ankle a few years ago and I still have pain in it when I do marychasana B on that side 😢 wondering if that will ever pass
Have really gotten a LOT out of your Primary videos. I just received the 1st pose in Intermediate, Pasasana. Will you both start to also do videos from Intermediate series?
