Life got busy and I didn't get to watch the walk through of the cards section of this vid. But it worked out perfectly because my deck arrived today (a day early) and now I'm flipping through my cards along with you! It's like a virtual "tea and tarot" conversation with you!!
I know this video is a million years old but I’ve finally got my hands on an original mythic tarot on eBay this week so I truly hope it’s in good condition when it arrives as I’ve looked for so so long! 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻
I love your videos, Kelly. Thanks for the mentions. I am very happy to be blamed for this, since I love The Mythic. I believe the power is in the concept and archetypes so I don't think it makes much difference which edition you have, though I am sure that a copy of the old one will find its way to you eventually if you keep your eyes open. Wonderful videos. Just sat here with a coffee for the last couple of hours watching them in one go. Should get back to some work now! Lol
The original was my first deck, which I still have and adore. I was lucky enough to find an unopened original on eBay for $30 last month. Won't be opening until my current deck falls apart.
I have the original mythic tarot card set. I worked at a bookstore when it was first published. It was my first deck and it is one I still primarily used. am going to pick this new one up and try it out!
So many people seem to have this as a first deck and I love that it is still a primary deck for you! It would be interesting to see how the 2nd one worked for you!
The Truth in Story - agreed! :) The mythic tarot remains my favorite deck to read with.even though I have many others. I have this video saved so will post an update down the road. I have some early Christmas money to spend! :)

I bought set's of this deck years ago, it also came with a large work book and separate book fr the cards and spreads.work Will have to really observe this post to see how much (if any) changes were made. The original was actually my first deck. I got it on eBay when I was 15 so about tw.... years ago lol. I ended up selling it at a freakin yard sale I think. I didn't realize what I had and now I'm kicking myself. Secretly I'm hoping that it was all a dream and I stored it at my parent's house.
i got mine from my dad as a kid, and still have them ^^ they are a bit beaten up tho after all those years and i already didnt get it new and than you find out it is now a rare deck, i still love mine

The original one was my first deck way back in the 90s. I still have it and it is still my favourite to read with. I have such a great rapport with it! It's a shame that the re-issue seems to have taken some of the charm out of the art work, and what is with the backing change?! The original has lovely deep blue and gold pentacle drawings.
Completely agree on the copy right written on the cards 🤣! It kept catching my eye every time I did a reading and would lose my focus 🙈 had to do a cleansing ritual to regain my focus when using this deck, but I still looking to get rid of it since I love the system! Please let me know if you ended up trimming and how you do that! Didn’t know people trimmed their decks! Thank you for this video✌️💕
Working with this deck for a couple of months now I would say is pretty accurate. Definitely knowing Greek mythology (I mean, would be odd you would buy a mythology-base deck and not know anything about the subject) would unlock another layer of meaning, on top of your RWS traditional meaning. If you do intuitive reading, it is a good deck to read solely on imagery but, for specific positions spreads on subjects such as business, for example, you would need to see the whole context and other cards because foundational tarot knowledge is needed. I don’t like the card stock, it doesn’t hold well for riffle shuffling unless you have already mastered how to shuffle any type of cards. I don’t like the artwork persé but the other options out there are worst. I do have the Olympus Tarot (only to discover it was a Russian clone, poorly cut) but because it doesn’t follow RWS, you really need to get into the picture to get the meaning. I’ve been searching for an oracle that best compliment these two decks, any recommendations will be greatly appreciated 🌞🙏🏼
I ordered from Amazon and my New Mythic Tarot will arrive Wednesday, it was 15.09. I almost won an eBay auction for the original for $15. I was counting down the SECONDS and at 1s someone bid and took it. I couldn't believe it :( But it's ok, like you, the system and love of myth is why I wanted the deck. I'm not too crazy about the art in either deck to be honest. I have the Fools Dog app and I've enjoyed the book so much that I can work with the art because the stories great. Enjoy!
I agree, I think it has been a lesson for me that sometimes a system or viewpoint of the deck can transcend the images, and this is the case, neither the first or second edition images blow me away but they aren't awful either so I can work with it!!
I totally traded this deck away LOL! I think I'll get an older version over this one. Steven did a great comparison video. Yes, Tricia Newell was the original artist.

+The Truth in Story I did as well thank you, wanted to tell you the obvious in regards to edging this deck, the chisel point purple sharpie turns out great only a couple shades off and the card stock is perfect for edging it. Great video as always 👍

This is one of my all time favorites not necessarily because of its artwork or the way it looks but because of how much it has taught me about tarot and mythology. Liz Greene and Juliette Sherman Burke are both really really amazing! the book is fantastic and is well worth the purchase alone. Xo

I have the first deck , bought in 1988. Bought another back 1998. the backing was diff from the 1988 cards. picture looks the same. I was going to get the new ones, just don't like them as a like the old ones. I have use my Mythic deck for yrs. I have other diff decks, But I alway seem to go back to them. Now My zombie deck coming very close. like my Mythic.

I was tempted by this deck but those borders and copyright are awful and it looks like trimming won't do the trick :(
