I think it would've been different yes, in fact I heard a rumor that the Scarecrow's cameo was originally planned for The Joker. However, I think fans would've wanted more than just that. Could you imagine how amazing it would be if The Joker teamed up with Bane? I can't even think about that...
I dunno, I feel like Bane's the exact type of schemer the Joker likes keeping in check, though I love that Scarecrow, who's probably the most pathetic major villain in the series, is the only one to stay afloat throughout the series, by just sort of keeping his head down after he got tased in Begins
I can't imagine two more diametrically opposed philosophies than those held by Bane and The Joker. Bane is a fanatic motivated by his (admittedly extremely twisted) idea of justice. The Joker is an anarchist motivated by his lust for chaos. I think Bane would look at the very existence of someone like The Joker as proof positive that Gotham should be wiped off the map.
The doctors in the prison discuss how Bane's mask relieves the pain in his body, which was brutalized during the riot caused by Talia's escape. During the sewer scene when Gordon is captured, we also notice that Bane has a scar running down his spine. We assume this was a result of the surgery, and that the mask relieves the pain. However, I was wondering if perhaps the mask relieved ALL pain. Meaning that Bane couldn't be hurt. This would explain why he could take such a beating from Batman.
Nice observation, he doesnt really hint it during the movie and there are moments later in the movie where it does seem like Batman is hurting him. I wouldnt say it was all pain but that he learned to live with the pain (just like Batman learned to live with fear).
Pains me that some people does not acknowledge the whole entire trilogy and only appreciate mostly TDK. Each of these films fulfill each of their purposes perfectly. FUCK THE HATERS. #3 BATMAN BEGINS 10/10:BEAUTIFUL #1 THE DARK KNIGHT 10/10:MASTERPIECE #2 THE DARK KNIGHT RISES 10/10:AMAZING
thibaldus3 No,Iron Man 3 was disappointing. The movie was going in a terrific direction and we ended up with ANOTHER generic villain whose motives were small as the first 2. The only sole problem I have with the movie is the last fight with Batman and Bane. It could have been longer. Other than that, great. And seriously,I couldn't care less about how Batman got to the city.
Sherhan Mahmud I don't care about this. I care about cops running straight at tanks and people with guns and not being decimated. I care about Talia stupidly convoluted plan. I care about Bane going from a great villain with real motivations (the reconning of the corrupt authorities of Gotham and the defence of its poor) to just a guy wanting to blow things up for revenge for his girlfriend. I care about a nuclear bomb exploding with no fallout whatsoever.
exactly!! im surprised they didnt mention it here. Nolan purposely did that to show the intensity of each hit. So we can feel every punch kick throw etc. I loved it
Yeah, it's like the Han Solo & Kylo Ren scene in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, that's so great too because there is no music, way more powerful, imagine the Joker "HIT ME" scene in The Dark Knight without music at all.. that would've been even more fantastic than it is now...
The film does not visually show how Bruce got back to Gotham, because it is already established Bruce already had these skills from Batman Begins. The Dark Knight Rises has two mis-en-scene allusions to this previous film to remind the audience of this: Bruce wearing rough clothing with a makeshift travel bag on the tough terrain after leaving the pit alludes to Bruce traveling the Tibetan mountains in Batman Begins. Selina sharing an apple with the orphan before Bruce returns alludes the Batman Begin's scene when Bruce shared an apple with a boy in sub-Saharan Africa. In Batman Begins, Bruce traveled the world for 7 years in poverty and no other resources --sneaking and stealing his way by-- to understand the minds of criminals. Then, when he was trained by the League of Shadows, he mastered the use of theatricality, "invisibility", and other ninja skills. It is obvious Bruce could have just got back to the U.S. by sneaking in a plane or boat, faking a passport, etc. (Also, although Bruce got back to the U.S. through a private jet in Batman Begins, the same film shows him burning his wallet, giving his coat to a hobo, and then sneaking into a boat by the Gotham port to leave the U.S. So, he has the ability to do transatlantic travel all by himself.) In terms of getting into Gotham, Gotham wasn't technically quarantined, as food shipments were allowed in. Citizens just weren't allowed out. The film itself establishes direct explanation for getting onto the island--the Special Forces being undercover as men delivering supplies. It proves that other people were also successfully sneaking into the city during Occupied Gotham.
GameStation3 or like how in the dark knight when the joker invades bruces mansion during the party scene when he tells rachel shes a fighter and he likes that how batman aka bruce sneaks up on joker alluding all his men with guns and says then your gonna love me...and comes out of nowhere invading the scene and hes just there infront of the joker and hits him...hes a ninja people remember begins??? the league of shadows are ninjas...bruce beat them all by himself....hes the best ninja ever
+GameStation3 I have no problem with this "plot hole." But a lot of people actually do...and he could have undercut this criticism with a 10 second scene. So, he should have done it. Explaining to these people why they shouldn't have a problem with it works about as well as them explaining to me why I should have a problem with it. But a 10 second scene would work like a charm.
Dale Doback Not at all. Just because they don't like the movie makes the morons. Film is subjective dude. I personally didn't enjoy the Dark Knight Rises and I think its weakest of the three but I respect your opinion.
People who criticize this movie always say "Well, it was full of plot holes." Then they don't say what those plot holes are. If you take the whole trilogy into account and simply pay attention to what happens in the movie, pretty much everything can be explained. It's one of the best final chapters of a great trilogy I've ever seen.
1)How did Bruce Wayne got from the middle of nowhere in to the Gotham while it was closed off and he had literally no money or power at his disposal with his back still getting healed. 2)How did Bane know where Batman's lair was so certainly that he was able to plan fighting right under it. 3)How the hell did he manage to cure his broken back in a few months. 4)How did NO ONE in Italy notice that "Oh this guy who is really famous in America was supposed to be dead but is right now living here.Did Bruce really think Bill Gates of his world would go unnoticed if he just went to another country? 5)How the hell was "Robin" able to find out he was Batman by just listening to him while commisoner Gordan wasn't able to throught the whole fucking trilogy? Here goes the ones i can pull out from the top of my head with the last time i watched the movie being at least a year prior to now.(Batman is Batman for less than a year throught the trilogy by the way.)
Sarper Doğan 1) err... he just need a nearby telephone and make some calls. He must have some alias like hollywood stars to travel to other countries and check-in at hotels and stuff. He must have contacts. Friends around the world! He's Bruce Wayne like u said. Richest man in the planet... Anyone in the world would recognize him like you said! He can solve thins not needing to show that he's Batman... 2) Bane knew because of Thalia... She was working for Lucius/Bruce Wayne and gathered informations.. She's a smart person. She is the head of league of shadows for christ sake. Bruce and Lucius trusted her.. a lot. They made her the CEO of the company. Try to guess what you can do as CEO and as spy... like navigate and hack in their computers, locate the Applied Sciences division that was shut down... etc etc. That's was really easy to guess by just watching the movie. I had no doubt! 3) His back was not Broken. Like snap in half or cracked. Just a little bit displaced. You understand that when you see how they manage do cure his back using a rope to relocate his column. Just my interpretation cause that part is not clear. So... who said it was broken? Just because you saw in the comics? It's isn't identical... Poetic license. Reference. Not copy! 4)You are right about that but we can forgive that. The main point is that Batman as we know is dead. And no one beside his comrades know that bat and Bruce are the same person. That's the real secret. If someone says that Bruce is alive in another country no one will relate him with Batman. Not a big deal you see. Batman is still dead. Screw it if Bruce faked his death and escaped his girlfriend. 5) That's not a plot hole. Gordon didn't knew cause he never checked batman past and never crossed in his mind that Bruce was batman because of Bruce Wayne behavior. He always saw Bruce as a regular rich spoiled kid, playboy douche that cares nothing besides himself. That's how it works in the comic book. And the film explains how Robin manage to get into that conclusion. I know that's silly but is the character thinking and guessing. Not necessary a plot hole. Plot hole is more like paradox or some kind of error of script writing that ruins the general cohesion of the movie. Not because some character believes that Bruce is Batman because of his personal past and feelings. There is no hole in that. It's just a bit silly.. but not a script failure
My only problem with this movie is how the hell did Bruce manage to make that giant bat simbol without anyone realising what was going on? Like, what the hell man?
Yes,like look God father 1,2 great 3 meh Star Wars 1,2 great 3 alright Indiana jones 1 great 2 good 3great 4 what happened Bourn 123 great 4 what happened Spider man 12 great 3 what happened But dark knight Batman begins amazing Dark knight a amazing masterpiece made by the gods Dark knight rises an epic battle that ends every thing percectly*
John Rutherford yea i get it, even though the dark knight is one of my favorite movies of all time but its not a perfect movie and i feel that civil war and deadpool are better movies
DramaHateNation deadpool is the best and most faith full portrayal of a comicbook movie since there is no other superhero that perfected their comicbook counterpart. The villain was weak but thats not his fault, more time was given to deadpool than the villains. Even though Christian Bale is still my favorite batman, his performance as batman was weak compared to the joker and since the joker talked in his normal crazy voice, while batman was a little hard to understand without using subtitles. Plus we all know that the joker is the reason why the dark knight is one of the best comicbook movies ever made. And yes i agree with you, deadpools story was weak but the producers were able to make a simple revenge story into an awesome superhero movie. Unlike in dark knight where the story was better but it had too many coincidences. Plus the ending fight for deadpool was better than the last fight with batman and joker. I love both movies but I think deadpool is the superior movie.
Batman - B+ Batman Returns - A+ Batman Forever - C Batman and Robin - F Batman Begins - A- The Dark Knight - B The Dark Knight Rises - A Batman V. Superman - C-
Theres one thing Nolan understood so well. He understood that there are 3 people in Bruce Wayne. One is Batman, another is Brice Wayne the way he is with his family, and the third is Bruce Wayne in the publics eye.
"You think Darkness is your alley. You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it. Molded by it. I didnt see the light untill i was a man and by then it was nothing but BLINDING!" *grabs throat*
If you think about it, the prison is like the Lazarus Pit in a way. Bruce goes in beaten and broken and ascends out of it stronger and better. The give away is when he illusioned Ra's al Ghul. Also JGL has a Nightwing symbol on his badge.
I'm so glad you guys love this movie. I'm so tired of hearing people ragging on it and all the amateur "plothole detectives" nitpicking the crap out of it. I bought the DVD and watched it one evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. A stunningly good climax to the trilogy.
Tom Hardy deserves WAY MORE recognition for his role as Bane. Physically he was menacing, but his voice and eyes were insulting your soul. He was so damn good as Bane! Thank you, Tom Hardy!
That thing in Colorado was sick. I live really close to that theater, and one of the security guards at the muddle school I went to at the time was shot. He's fine now though
thomas garrett that dude had serious issues... Bout time pple stop shaming mental health related pple n start giving solid support....rather than 'wave' it off. We all did the killing. If we ever brushed off anyone with depression even once...even once we shamed those oppressed we are then...included n responsible for killing the 12.
May Umm... no. Sure it would’ve been better if people didn’t do that, but comparing someone shrugging a struggling person off with the murder of innocent bystanders is very wrong
Its funny how people hate on The Dark Knight Rises for having plot holes but praise The Avengers as a masterpiece despite the fact that its a generic superhero film that has been done many times before. As flawed as TDKR may be its at least better than Avengers to me. Josh Whedon is a hack.
ReadingsteinerZ Avengers was more about putting all the Marvel characters together but please don't compare it to Michael Bays crap version of Transformers. And yes TDKR was a fantastic almost 3hr movie
***** More boring??? The story being boring is your opinion. Others think the story is deep and has alot going on at once. In avengers, it is literally point A to B. Big bad villain comes, they fight movie over. Avengers survived purely on action whereas the Dark Knight Rises survived on its story. Literally if you watch the avengers again, everyone I knows skips to the action scenes.
***** A movie making money doesnt mean anything. Paranormal Activity Movies make alot more money then some great films. Are we saying that paranormal Activity is a great series. Hell no.
U may personally like it more but the movie is about as linear as a call of duty game and couldve been written by anyone and has the biggest movie cliches ever. Its something weve seen a billion times. If the fight scenes werent good, there would be no reason to watch that movie bcuz the story was mediocre at best and very predictable. The movie as a whole was a good movie to me. The movie did what it was trying to do and thats make a good action movie. The dark knight has alot of polt points going on at once so you stay invested in its story. The dark knight rises could have terrible action sequences and still be a great movie bcuz its solely driven on its story and its characters.
I love the ending scenes so much especially when the music kicks in when bruce and alfred look at each other and then the next scene of robin rising up on that platform with the music rising as well and then boom the dark knight rises and credits... still gives me chills when i watch it for some reason.
Hey guys, when i watch your reviews for movies, and I listen to your thoughts and points on these movies and then i go in and watch them again and i realize more things than i used to about them and it makes me enjoy them more, and i dig it. Thank you guys for making movies better.
By the way Alfred talked about the cafe, I got the impression that he visited every year while on vacation, which would explain how Bruce Wayne knew when he would be there. Just my thought.
Some people like this movie. Some people hate it. Where do I stand? Let me put it like this....... I FREAKING LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! - People who disliked this one can keep on disliking it, its their opinion. But for me, I can't lie, I really love this one. I thought it was a great conclusion to a great trilogy. Does it have problems? Definitely. But I thought the good outweighed the bad.
The fact that ive only just watched this film today and the rest of the dark Knight trilogy over the past 3 weeks and came straight to this video to hear people talk about it shows how well it and the whole trilogy has aged.
Hathaway blew me away in this film. I feel awful for ever doubting her. Favourite moment was when you first see the true Selina Kyle; that transformation of facial expression from innocent Anne Hathaway character that we've all seen before to the sexy smirk. She is amazing in this film.
Don't ever go back on these thoughts due to bandwagons or peer pressure Man, this is your thoughts and feelings on a cinematic experience that moved you. This is natural and visceral and earnest. You got wore down by internet over analyzing and people trying to bog it down. This is the truth, this is he magic you fight for. This is a beautiful, honest review. It's inspirational, and I felt the same. I cherish the theatre going experience and I shield myself from all the peer pressure and hate, it really is the analyzation the purest form, I adore this review. It's the non cynical and truthful magic you guys felt, as did I, and in all future viewings I retained my awe. It's pure, don't bend to the whims of the people who claim your not allowed to love something. They are cynical and counter intuitive. This is moviegoing at its finest, and it still continues to move me til this day. This is a video of pure reaction to the film, which has been watered down by appeasing everyone else cynicism. Stay true to you. I love watching this video, it's so pure and inspirational.
read nightfall then you will know why. Also watch cinema sins video on it. If you are still confused watch how it should have ended video on it. Still confused just look up all the plot holes with the movie it is quite the list. hope that helps.
Darkbdlz I watched that, annnd those people really did not pay attention to the trilogy. Was actually embarrassed they were pretending to be smart but missed so many little details which explained mostly everything.
Dark Knight Rises is my favorite in the trilogy. I remember watching it in theater when he was in the pit, thinking 'how does he come back from this?'. That was the only time in the entire trilogy it really seemed Batman was actually defeated.
What's also cool about Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character, John Blake, is that he's a mix of all three of the first Robins. I'm not kidding! Let me explain: 1. Dick Grayson became a police officer during his time as Nightwing. 2. Jason Todd was enraged that his parents were killed by a mugger and wanted to do something about the crime in Gotham. 3. Tim Drake used his detective skills to deduce the secret identities of Batman and Robin.
I felt the same way but then i thought differently. I actually thought it was clever to end his character because it contrasted how he projected himself. "I AM the League of Shadows!" It showed he was just a man. "If you make urself more than just a man, you can become something else entirely." I think it showed that, after all his feats, he wasn't as powerful as even he believed. I think his end was symbolic and I liked that.
I'm a dental student... I was making batman symbols in all my casts and other stuff two days before the movie... Kept listening to the batman theme song from the Adam west show.. Then the animated theme song... Then the one by Danny elfman, then the latest one... It gave me this feeling that it was an end of an era... Sort of a build up to the final boss of a game... I was pumped.. And it didn't disappoint...
Watching this movie in theater, when we saw Bruce sitting at the table with Selina, everyone in the theater started clapping. They clapped again when the lady call John Blake 'Robin'
I really feel a lot of people take an overly cold attitude towards this movie because it didn't give them exactly what they were hoping for from a sequel to TDK and I also think a lot of them don't really give it a chance or view it objectively because of that. I know, Easy target because of my Avatar but that's truly how I feel and I don't even think it's the best of the trilogy, That most certainly is The Dark Knight, but I feel Rises gets underrated quite a bit because it was such a tough act to follow.
Of course a lot of expectations were high for this, that's why when it turned out to be mediocre at best, fans fell even harder than expected. is this better than other movies out there? Sure. Does it even come close to the other two, or even Nolan's other films? not by a long shot. They tried too hard and didn't realize that less is more.
Jordan Hansen But that's just it, Its not "mediocre". It's not just about expectations being high, It really feels like a lot of those fans wanted something really specific from a TDK sequel and take an absurdly negative view of this movie because it didn't gel with what they wanted.
@@adrianjames5970 To answer the question, I think in broad strokes the fans wanted a movie that begins with Batman fighting crime as a fugitive vigilante and ends with him still fighting crime as a non-fugitive vigilante.
I fucking love the line bane gives when he was fighting batman the first time, it's like he just fucking rubbed in his face that he won't be able to beat him, it was due to the fact of his mentality, before the fight even started he looked at him as nothing but Bruce Wayne instead of Batman... "You fight like a young man, nothing held back, admirable, but mistaken." -Bane
I just lost my seat laughing so hard when Banes thugs ran towards the Gotham PD and the Cops ran towards them too.I mean I was like "WTF is this??Is this WESTSIDE GOTHAM STORY or what!!??HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!".
I loved when the doctor tells him he must find fear again and that's the only way he can get out of the cave, because he will fear death and not saving his city. "Fear will find you again." I loved that line.
Just before the movie started in the theatre and the 'Man of Steel' trailer came on, I shouted 'Batman!' in defiance when it ended and the whole theatre laughed so much. That was an awesome moment in my moviegoing life, and then the movie was amazing on top of that!
The ones I've seen: Batman (1989) - 85% Batman Returns (1992) - 50% Batman Forever (1995?) - 50% Batman and Robin (1997) - 1% Batman Begins (2006) - 98% The Dark Knight (2008) - 99% The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - 99% If I have to covert them for you, you have failed as a person
Clayton Krumm havent actually seen robin but Batman (1966)- 70 Batman (1989)- 80 Batman Returns- 90 Forever- 45 Begins- 100 DK- 100 DKR- 95 BVS- 45 JL- 60
I think this is my favourite movie of all time. I did think it was the dark knight but this movie is so much more emotional. Nolan is by far my favourite director after what he has accomplished with this trilogy. Easily the best batman movies and will definitely stay that way, even after the crappy reboot comes out.
Thank you guys for reviewing this movie with wit, intelligence and an emotional understanding of the film, your review made me love the film even more! I`m so sick of these cynical bloggers posting negative reviews of this movie because it had plot-holes. Channels like YMS and ScreenJunkies don`t know film, they only know film criticism, and they clearly don`t understand that what makes a good film is great characters, emotions, plot, etc. Thanks again for the awesome review:)
Him screaming when he was in fight stance as Bane is walking toward him was so chilling. I agree that that part made the scene, just him knowing I am completely fucked and what have I gotten myself into. It was just raw emotion.
The fact that this movie gets looked down because of the comparison between The Joker & Bane, tells me that people really don't even watch a movie properly. This movie clearly had the best screenplay of all the 3 movies & it's very intricate and works as a superhero movie better than the predecessor. This feels perfect as a sequel to Batman Begins, however to understand the 1st act of TDKR, The Dark knight was necessary.
Batman the Movie- 7/10 Batman 1989- 8/10 Batman Returns- 4/10 Batman Forever- 5/10 Batman and Robin- 1/10 Batman Mask of the Phantasm- 8/10 Batman Under the Red Hood- 9/10 The Dark Knight Returns Part 1- 7/10 The Dark Knight Returns Part 2- 9/10 Batman Begins- 10/10 The Dark Knight- 10/10 The Dark Knight Rises-9/10
5:59 It was based on the Knightfall plot, which features Bane actually beating him both physically and mentally and is one of the most iconic plots of the history of Batman.
Same here man. No idea why some people hate it. The "plot holes" are easily explained and the ones that aren't are so small and nitpicky. The film is so emotionally resonant that even if you're asshurt enough to not be able to admit that they aren't plotholes that I can't understand why you wouldn't find it so emotionally gripping. Such a great film in a great trilogy.
Cran KaDub I think a lot of it had to do with people who wanted to cut Nolan down a peg. At the time, after TDK and Inception, his reputation was at an all time high, and he had a lot of crazy fanboys who was saying that he's the next Kubrick, etc, and haters were looking for any excuse to tear them down. To be fair, there WERE some plot holes, and the plot is pretty unwieldy to fit in one movie, it easily could have been split into two movies, but nevertheless, like you said, it's so emotionally resonant and is probably the only Batman story where Bruce gets a happy ending.
Im also mind blown by Christopher Nolan. Like I can't even wrap my mind around the fact that this trilogy was created by 1 person. He's a genius in cinema and I'm looking forward to see what he does next. And I loved inception. Also I'd like to see batman and robin but we'll see I guess. Excellent trilogy and excellent conclusion.
I don’t know if this will ever be seen but spoiler alert!! I hated how Bane died in the film. I thought it was very very anticlimactic and it felt very disrespectful to the character of Bane. He was such a great villain and I felt that his death should’ve been handled with more respect.
I agree. Other than a few plot holes, Bane's death was the only major problem I had with the movie. Very abrupt, very anticlimactic and not satisfying at all. It was a huge disservice to the character.
THEPHAMTASTIC3 nope. Glad we saw Bruce. Audience needed it. Cmon...almost 3hours n we _dont_ get to see Bruce!? Cmon it's a movie, *_not_* an opportunity for cruelty! !
For me i liked dark knight rises better than batman begins and the dark knight...but honestly speaking this is the only trilogy where the first, second and third movies are masterpieces
@@darthnihilus7951 LOTR doesn't even come close. Just look at Sauron as a villain. He has no depth whatsoever and he is just evil and wants power for no reason. Not to mention he is too powerful and immortal. Even Voldemort, although a bad villain is far better than this Sauron guy and I don't think Frodo Baggins was a good character at all. Also I was not at all satisfied the way it ended. The most overrated triology. Yes it does have some pretty good action but problem it defies laws of physics and makes me think like I am watching children's movie. TDK triology may not have the most realistic action but atleast it's not childish. Great for children but as teenager its kind of childish and pretends to be epic but in reality it's just mediocre .
@@achyuththouta6957 I never said the dark Knight trilogy was childish or unrealistic, in fact that's one of the reasons why I love TDK trilogy because it to me at least, is the most realistic depiction of the Batman universe and it still works well that way. Also I understand why some people wouldn't like LOTR as much as I would but they are still my favorite movies; if you hate them then I can't really argue with that, it's your opinion.
The Dark knight rises at the end when Alfred is at the graves of the wayne family when he breaks down and cries, apologizing the he failed the parents that scene just hit me. i never i would be fighting back tears, but I'll admit the dark knight rises made me cry... yup a 20 year old marine lol
If you watch all the Nolan Batman films very close to each other, when the hype dies down and no longer affects your interpretation of what you're watching, its very clear that DNR is no where near as good a DK. Not because I'm a Heath Ledger groupie, but because of the story. DNR undoes almost everything the DK set-up. From the Bruce's inner conflict with his Batman persona, to the personal, terrifyingly relatable mind tricks the joker played. Bane is great, but his goal was so vast, and so broad that it felt very impersonal. Not to mention his "liberation" barely made sense and his connection with Wayne was very loosely put together. Batman was reborn like 3 times in the same movie which was annoying, and also made no sense. We could have also done without the Talia/Bruce romance, because they barely gave it time to happen, let alone explain how he finally moved past his relationship with Rachel. Meanwhile Batmans conflict with the joker and Gotham's crime problems in DK were so much more...real. I dunno if i'm explaining myself well, it's just my take!
To each his own :). Whenever I do a marathon and watch them all close together I always find the DKR underperforms compared to DK. But If you like it more then thats also fine!!
I have the same thoughts about it. I actually didn't like anything about it except Bane until he got turned into a lovesick puppy with no other motivations. I don't even remember most of the movie anymore, just the fact that I was majorly disappointed with it. Almost hated Catwoman, Talia was a wtf character, Batman was out of character with that EPIC comeback line, "No, I came back to stop you," -______________- With all the love this movie gets, I thought I might have the wrong idea and watched it again. Hated it even more. Couldn't even finish.
Not a comment on your analysis, just pointing out: I think the word you're looking for is "Dimensional". You used "Demential" which means "Has dementia". Although, this accurately describes Maggie Gyllenhaal's acting...
I just saw it for the 4th time this past weekend. It's still awesome! My Grandfather went with me this time, he really liked it alot also, especially since he read the comics as a kid. I've seen it 4 times, and I still can't get enough of it!
Very elaborative discussion. My favourite scene was Batman's first appearance. But the scene that i watched with most interest was the first fight b/w Bane and Batman. And throughout the whole scene, i was like O.O - I mean they never showed that in the first 2 movies, this was the first movie where they showed that Batman can be beaten, as you guys mentioned there's a moment in that fight when Batman actually screams in anger, such a natural expression. My favourite movie of this year.
It's funny though. DKR has some brilliant characters and character development, where as for me Interstellar left me completely cold in regards to the characters.
To say that I've been a huge Batman fan my whole life is an understatement, but this is the absolute best review of The Dark Knight Rises I've ever seen. I just wanted to thank you both for this review. Keep up the good work! Thanks and God bless.
Might have been almost disrespectful to make him just a lackey in Bane's plans.
The Dark Knight trilogy is so philosophical and motivational, as well as being insanely badass. I've re watched the trilogy countless times.
Amazing trilogy, Nolan's batman movies are in a league of their own. As close to realism as you can get in comic book movies.
@@lostcrusader11 finally people that actually appreciate all three movies and not just the second movie
If I could describe the trilogy in 3 words, they would be those, well done sir you have my taste
So have I. Dear god, it's so good
The most badass line was definitely: “do you feel in charge?”
I also liked:
- "It would be extremely painful...."
- "You're a big guy."
- "..for you."
Disney stole that line for darth vader in rogue one
@@KB-ts8jh A pretty common, clichéd phrase?
Sure.
I loved that shit
I like.. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Bane has actually a lot of memorable quotes.

Pains me that some people does not acknowledge the whole entire trilogy and only appreciate mostly TDK. Each of these films fulfill each of their purposes perfectly. FUCK THE HATERS.
#3 BATMAN BEGINS 10/10:BEAUTIFUL
#1 THE DARK KNIGHT 10/10:MASTERPIECE
#2 THE DARK KNIGHT RISES 10/10:AMAZING
Sherhan Mahmud 7/10 for TDKR.
8/10 for BB.
10/10 for TDK.
I'd give it a 9/10 but I don't get the hate everyone gives it.
THEPHAMTASTIC3
It was just a bit disappointing. Not in par with the previous installments of the trilogy.
thibaldus3 No,Iron Man 3 was disappointing.
Sherhan Mahmud
I don't care about this.
I will get hate for this, but...........this is my favorite movie of all time.

Comicbook Hobby right?! he's the same size as chris! but now he's freaking huge!
.. my favourite part of the bane batman fight was the lack of music.
exactly!! im surprised they didnt mention it here. Nolan purposely did that to show the intensity of each hit. So we can feel every punch kick throw etc. I loved it
... i agree. the lack of music made it more intense and made the scene feel more grave.
Wil Rivera m
Victor Ferger idk man, the song building up with joker's hit me was pretty epic I can't really see how successful it would be without music
So, he has the ability to do transatlantic travel all by himself.)
In terms of getting into Gotham, Gotham wasn't technically quarantined, as food shipments were allowed in. Citizens just weren't allowed out. The film itself establishes direct explanation for getting onto the island--the Special Forces being undercover as men delivering supplies. It proves that other people were also successfully sneaking into the city during Occupied Gotham.
couldn't agree more
GameStation3 THANK YOU
Great explanation!!
Don't listen to the moron's who trash this film. As far as taste you can not like it, but people say its a bad film, not true.
This film is excellent.
No it's not
Dale Doback Its a great film apart from all the massive plot holes and weak ending.
Dale Doback Not at all. Just because they don't like the movie makes the morons. Film is subjective dude. I personally didn't enjoy the Dark Knight Rises and I think its weakest of the three but I respect your opinion.
***** What plot holes?
*****
"B" is still a pretty positive rating.
People who criticize this movie always say "Well, it was full of plot holes." Then they don't say what those plot holes are. If you take the whole trilogy into account and simply pay attention to what happens in the movie, pretty much everything can be explained. It's one of the best final chapters of a great trilogy I've ever seen.
wow i thought i wuz the only 1 who realized that thank gosh im not
1)How did Bruce Wayne got from the middle of nowhere in to the Gotham while it was closed off and he had literally no money or power at his disposal with his back still getting healed.
Ele Core 4) Clean slate, they both are new people, to anyone else just a look-a-likes.
My only problem with this movie is how the hell did Bruce manage to make that giant bat simbol without anyone realising what was going on? Like, what the hell man?

+Ahmed Abdulhameed dark knit his overrated, must people love it because of Ledger. TDKR is incredibly overrated and dumb
Top 5 trilogies imo are...
1. lord of the rings
2. star wars 4,5,6
3. toy story
4. dark knight trilogy
5. captain america trilogy

Theres one thing Nolan understood so well. He understood that there are 3 people in Bruce Wayne. One is Batman, another is Brice Wayne the way he is with his family, and the third is Bruce Wayne in the publics eye.

I'm so glad you guys love this movie. I'm so tired of hearing people ragging on it and all the amateur "plothole detectives" nitpicking the crap out of it. I bought the DVD and watched it one evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. A stunningly good climax to the trilogy.
My favorite relationship in this series is Fox and Wayne. He never tells him he is Batman and Fox never asks...but they both know that they know.
Tom Hardy deserves WAY MORE recognition for his role as Bane. Physically he was menacing, but his voice and eyes were insulting your soul. He was so damn good as Bane! Thank you, Tom Hardy!
My favorite part is when catwoman disappears on Batman, and he says: "So that's what that feels like"

Its funny how people hate on The Dark Knight Rises for having plot holes but praise The Avengers as a masterpiece despite the fact that its a generic superhero film that has been done many times before. As flawed as TDKR may be its at least better than Avengers to me. Josh Whedon is a hack.

That's your opinion. The Avengers to me had a more simplistic plot and about as much fun as the best Transformers film.
Opens with a sad note, then cuts to Chris and flickpick dressed up in Batman costumes, truly an emotional roller coaster
I love the ending scenes so much especially when the music kicks in when bruce and alfred look at each other and then the next scene of robin rising up on that platform with the music rising as well and then boom the dark knight rises and credits... still gives me chills when i watch it for some reason.

What a coincidence that Alfred went on the one day that Bruce was there...unless Bruce went everyday with Selina just to see if Alfred would show up😂
I just rewatched this and thought the same thing! I imagine he didn't even tell Selina why they were going every day 😂
By the way Alfred talked about the cafe, I got the impression that he visited every year while on vacation, which would explain how Bruce Wayne knew when he would be there. Just my thought.
or if he imagined it

People who disliked this one can keep on disliking it, its their opinion.

Dark Knight Rises is one of the best film I have seen.
Mohammad Rahman agree!
I love this movie, can't get why people don't.
read nightfall then you will know why. Also watch cinema sins video on it. If you are still confused watch how it should have ended video on it. Still confused just look up all the plot holes with the movie it is quite the list. hope that helps.
Darkbdlz most of them arent really plot holes, just list me some and i will see if they are explainable
Didn't gell with the Batman movie they spent Four years visualizing it would be.
Darkbdlz I watched that, annnd those people really did not pay attention to the trilogy. Was actually embarrassed they were pretending to be smart but missed so many little details which explained mostly everything.
Because people are ignorant and don't pay attention so they can't put 2 and 2 together
Let me explain:
Selina:You don't owe these people anymore you've given them everything. Batman:Not EVERYTHING, not yet. Everything meaning his life.
All they wanted was a film that didn't suck. What kind of film do you think they were expecting?
Jordan Hansen And this film didn't suck.

The hate given to this movie should be immediately refocussed to TASM 2
also to Hangover films.
Why? I don't think it's that bad.
Just before the movie started in the theatre and the 'Man of Steel' trailer came on, I shouted 'Batman!' in defiance when it ended and the whole theatre laughed so much. That was an awesome moment in my moviegoing life, and then the movie was amazing on top of that!

I think this is my favourite movie of all time. I did think it was the dark knight but this movie is so much more emotional. The stakes in this movie was sky high, even bigger than the dark Knight
Him screaming when he was in fight stance as Bane is walking toward him was so chilling. I agree that that part made the scene, just him knowing I am completely fucked and what have I gotten myself into. It was just raw emotion.

Great review. I thought it was an amazing film, and the backlash against it blew my mind.
Well im glad i'm crazy because Nolan is a much greater director than Stanley Kubrick lol.
This movie for me was perfection
This movie is not a movie. It's an experience!
My brother died when this movie came out. This is one of the few movies I've cried watching.
The ending would have been better if it just showed Alfred nodding and didn't show Bruce
THEPHAMTASTIC3 nope. Glad we saw Bruce.
Audience needed it.
Cmon...almost 3hours n we _dont_ get to see Bruce!? Cmon it's a movie, *_not_* an opportunity for cruelty! !
I'm SO glad I got to see this movie in theaters. My life wouldn't be complete without this trilogy.
For me i liked dark knight rises better than batman begins and the dark knight...but honestly speaking this is the only trilogy where the first, second and third movies are masterpieces
Lord of The Rings? 🙃
Leah Marie you're a woman your opinion doesn't matter SEXIST!!!!!!!
I like the John Flickster better this way. He sounds very manly now and is always hopped up on caffeine lol a little annoying actually
thats cuz preworkout is packed with tons of caffeine lol
It was so hard not to cry when he said that. Michael Caine is a damn good actor
"It's my milk though..."😓Eyeshadow, took that one a little too far imho
Very elaborative discussion.
My favourite scene was Batman's first appearance. But the scene that i watched with most interest was the first fight b/w Bane and Batman. And throughout the whole scene, i was like
O.O - I mean they never showed that in the first 2 movies, this was the first movie where they showed that Batman can be beaten, as you guys mentioned there's a moment in that fight when Batman actually screams in anger, such a natural expression.
My favourite movie of this year.
You both are fucking hilarious.
No music during the batman vs bane scene is what made it for me.
It's funny though. DKR has some brilliant characters and character development, where as for me Interstellar left me completely cold in regards to the characters.
Kasino80 wrong
Dr. Olympus you can't really say that it's wrong. I really didn't care about them. You did, and that's fine.
To say that I've been a huge Batman fan my whole life is an understatement, but this is the absolute best review of The Dark Knight Rises I've ever seen. I just wanted to thank you both for this review. Keep up the good work! Thanks and God bless.
I love the movie, but Banes death IMO was so underwhelming
During the climax when batman was taking the bomb away my heart started to pump quickly! Man what a Moment!
holy shit! The Flick Pick bulked the hell up!!! What steroids are he on? He even has a deeper voice!
I think that John Blake needs to be written into the comics now, to be honest. LOVE that character, and JGL was fantastic.
