They do pay income taxes tho, non-us citizens receive a ITIN number to file taxes. They pay into social security without any benefit of it - the exact statistic of non-us citizens who DONT pay taxes is difficult to measure (since they’re off the grid basically) but what we do know is in 2015 4.4 million ITIN filers paid over $23.6 billion in total taxes I don’t think those numbers are anything to write off - it’s a substantial amount of illegal migrants paying into the system Not saying illegal immigration isn’t an issue but making a generalization without nuance causes more harm than anything lol
I don’t know the exact in and outs of the US but if you are somewhere illegally and the US government give you a number to file taxes is insane you should just be sent back home as you are in the country illegally, I would bet 95% don’t file for this as no one knows that they are in the country so why pay tax when you can get cash.
@coreydoolan9979 there’s was an estimated 11 million illegal migrants in the US in 2015 meaning not 95% aren’t paying taxes. Let’s not throw out numbers without researching a little I mentioned it elsewhere but the benefit and reason for it is that a subset (at least 4.4 million according to the resource I found) don’t come here with bad intentions. Even if the entry is illegal they pay taxes the right way because they still desire citizenship. Something should be done about the subset who don’t pay taxes but for those who do, is deportation really the answer when they’re paying into a system (social security) that benefits everyone else but them? To me that sounds like the kind of foreigners you WOULD want in your country if they’re willing to pay taxes when they could get away with not doing so. I may be wrong but I don’t think they get questioned on their method of entry when they request an ITIN number. If they have no social security number they’re just given it (correct me if I’m wrong tho)
ITINs do not permit someone to work in the U.S. you need a ssn to receive payroll. I was a financial crimes investigator for over 5 years. If someone just had an ITIN and was receiving payroll their accounts got closed and a SAR was filed. They need an SSN lol. Thousands of accounts were closed per month.
@@TheAverageGam3r yeah this is true, my post was only meant to inform on the claim that migrants don’t pay taxes at all which just isn’t true.
