Interestingly, I saw one of the Mikey Chen podcasts at the time shortly after. However, Mikey Chen actually did state he 'completely understood why Nigel did it' (paraphrasing). I cannot speak for every podcast Mikey Chen appeared on, but I thought he was actually being pretty cool about the whole thing and was rather understanding. I think he was a little annoyed, but he didn't verbally/vocally saying anything outwardly negative about Nigel from what I recall. However, if you do not watch the whole podcast and you are in a certain mindset, you could potentially convince yourself you were 'thrown under the bus', but I don't think that happened.
Really is mental gymnastics and has to be soul crushing for comedians now who've got a presence online. However, what the cancel culture fail to realize is that when they try to cancel a comedian for a spicy joke, that comedian then becomes more well known and watch their specials just like with Dave Chapelle.
I remember Mike Chen/Strictly Dumpling saying Nigel did not contact him during the apologizing to China thing. I think that's why he went on those different channels and talked about it

In my country (Thailand) a famous song was banned from any live stages because most of the singers and its listener changed the lyric during the chorus for sing along to criticized the military coup 🤣
Every western country in the last 80 years: "fuck..."
It’s ok China he’s not yours anyway. He proudly belongs to us Malaysians ❤
So good to hear the full story from Nigel. On face value, I enjoyed his vids and was just disappointed he 'shilled' for the CCP. Now hear this wasn't the case, just a reminder to me to not completely swallow what's fed to me. Cheers guys, nice interview 👍
We don’t care if they cancel you Uncle Roger! From Philippines!
Screw you, quit being a hater. He's funny. QUIT BEING A HATER!
Really glad to hear this. Saw the Strictly Dumpling thing real time. Had no idea about all the Falungong deal and all that.
He has links to FLG events and stuff in his descriptions all the time as far as i can remember, though he's more prevalent in his involvement on the second channel.
Just discovered Uncle Roger. He is unbelievable . Good luck !
It comes up time and time again. If you apologise in this current world, all you are doing is confirming you were "wrong" and then opening up avenues for further attack. It does you no good.
I love how organic this interview is!!! We all need this. Exactly!!! Make fun of everybody. That's comedy. I stutter - it gets better or worse - but if people crack a joke about it if I start up - I dont get offended if its funny. Humor and discrimination are 2 different things.
Well spoken, articulate very funny what a great guy!
I love uncle Roger. Very glad to see this and get a peek behind the curtain.
OMG!!! I am sooooo excited for this!!!!! I LOVE Uncle Roger!!!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I had no idea Auntie Helen was German lol
It was a surprise for Me too😂❤! He is also part of AMWF community🥰❤️!!!!
Howewer Auntie Helen was lucky as Fuck LoL Ahaha😍😁❤️!!!!
Really is mental gymnastics and has to be soul crushing for comedians now who've got a presence online. However, what the cancel culture fail to realize is that when they try to cancel a comedian for a spicy joke, that comedian then becomes more well known and watch their specials just like with Dave Chapelle.
Uncle Roger is hilarious. Keep going!
Respect for Uncle Roger! Didn't know the full back story until now, great interview!
Uncle Roger is a full on China propagandist..
I remember Mike Chen/Strictly Dumpling saying Nigel did not contact him during the apologizing to China thing. I think that's why he went on those different channels and talked about it
Congrats Nigel! I discovered you this year and can't get enough of Uncle Roger. I live in LA, let me know if you need any help getting settled.
Fun to watch & informative. A fine interview.
You are very welcome to Taiwan!!!
There's a saying "有共不辱,愧對父母“, from a famous Taiwanese TH-camr, 波特王. lol
I do like the fact that he refuses to take a political slant. That's clever marketing if it isn't true and downright beneficial if it is.
In his case he's refusing to BE a political slant

As much as I enjoy the societal/political stuff, the interviews you do with other comedians always feels like one of those great chats you have with mates at the pub when 5 beers deep!
Good on you, lads, for posting this today
Please come to Taiwan! Stand up comedy is getting popular in Taiwan now. It is probably the most open minded, free country in the Mandarin speaking world
Always great material! Keep it up.
Wow this is explosive information. Of all the Strictly Dumplings videos I watch, I have no idea that Mikey Chen is a member of Fa Lun Gong...I don't recall him ever mentioning anything in his food review videos. Sorry to hear that you have to go through that mess of a situation. It's like stepping on a landmine without knowing it.
He has links to FLG events and stuff in his descriptions all the time as far as i can remember, though he's more prevalent in his involvement on the second channel
I honestly try to avoid anyone involved with CCP and FLG. We don't need the psyop.
Lovely and funny man, just started following Nigel and I am impressed
Thank you uncle Roger & thank you Triggernometry. Finally, someone let English speakers understood the real CCP and what meant of Chinese style freedom. But fact is, the case is even worst than that.
Uncle Roger, many people of Chinese race all over the world love you. Stay true to yourself. Support you.
Nigel's story needs to be seen on the big screen...either as a biopic drama and/or a documentary. Dave Chappelle should be involved, perhaps as the primary producer.
Wowee my absolute favourite episode EVER. This is amazing 👏 🙌
This podcast came up randomly on my feed and got me glued to my phone for an hour. Brilliant!
I love seeing the guys blossom when interviewing a fellow comic. This is a comedy show right now
Very interesting to hear how social media works in similar ways in very different cultures and seems to amplify outrage everywhere.
Hello! Just want to thank you guys for inviting Roger to the show. I have to admit that I immediately stopped watching all of Roger contents as soon as i heard that he kowtowd to the CCP. Needless to say, i then didn't bother to research or dig deeper on Roger side of the story.
Glad to hear his side of the story now, and I have to admit that I'm ashamed of my immediate decision back then. Apologies Nigel, glad that everything's going well for you now :)
good on you for watching this then and moving on from what you thought then. Hope you've enjoyed catching up on his stuff :)
Uncle Roger's full comedy episodes are hilarious. He does the food reviews, working in restaurants and more. Get to see and hear from Nephew Nigel too. He has a full season you can watch. 👌🏽
Nigel Ng being afraid of both CCP and Falun Gong shows how tragic the situation is.
That China comedy clip was golden. Damn that’s funny
Somehow, I suspect Jamie Oliver was the mastermind behind all of this...
That chilli jam...
😂😂😂
That “green curry” ... that chorizo “ paella” .... ohww and that pseudo “ lasagne”.... 😅😅😅
No mention of the mango chutney... wtf!?
Holy cow, thank you for reminding me of how much I love being American! (At least for now since many would like the prosecute their political enemies here.)
Petition to get J.K Rowling on the show.
Signed!
It would be LEGENDARY.
YES PLEASE!!
Just found this channel ( because you have Uncle Roger as a guest ) and I love that you guys give your guests the opportunity to speak their truth as apposed to the haters “ opinions “ of them. Nigel ( Uncle Roger ) is an excellent choice of a guest , he’s hilarious humble intelligent and appears to be a very decent nice guy. Uncle Roger being cancelled is insanity, his words are comedic, jokes ffs, he’s a COMEDIAN and has my 100% support ❤️I love his channel also. Thank you, subscribed and notifications on 👍👍
Uncle Roger is the reason I bought a rice cooker albeit a budget but rice cooker none the less
I have been watching your first video and now can’t believe how far you’re now! . Congratulations
When KK said he didnt think CCP would cancel people, he really had no idea.
shows what a bubble he lives in!
It's not really cancelling as we've come to know it in the west.
@@justme-hh4vp he doesn't strike me as someone in a bubble but it's all the more surprising given hes from Russia and Stalin was the OG cancelling
@@chrisbfreelance west cancel culture is only social. In China, there are social and government cancel culture. If worse come to worse like humiliating xi, they will jail you.
I don't think it is always an obligatory, diversity thing to be hired. A lot of cultures "take the piss" out of their own. We have indigenous Black Comedy here in Australia and they are great, "Deadly" as they say. I think you are genuinely loved because of your attitude and you are truly a funny man to listen to.
Love Uncle Roger! He's a great comedian and should get a bigger chance!
Awesome content, this is the exact juxtaposition of interesting sub topics that is the real deal of interesting thought experiments everybody should be concerned with,
52:20 Wow Nigel brings up a seriously good point. I've never though of Andrew Tate like that. Now come to think of it he's basically a pro-wrestling heel on social media, never dropping keyfabe. All you gotta do is to not take him seriously and all of the sudden the shit that people get offended by becomes pure entertainment. He's just a guy saying crazy shit, shit you can't come up with yourself, and getting rich off of it. Good for him. The people that actually take his advice? Well, I'd assume Andrew Tate is not their main issue.
In tears laughing at this. Absolutely fantastic interview with three admirable people! Haiyaaaaaa!
As a Chinese mainlander,it’s good for you to give up the Chinese market
how so?
Historically artists have always been the truth tellers. Its why art is so important even though the medium changes with time.
You can tell how much it impacted him. Very sad. Someone who just wanted to make people laugh and have a good time. Those of us who are reasonable people have your back, Nigel.
What a freaking amazing podcast episode. Insta-subbed.
Konstantin and Francis, FUIYOH!
auntie helen is german! 😱
Would have never thought i would see the legendary uncle roger on trig!
Uncle Roger not cancelled --- people (maybe outside China) love him even more.
